@thebballer25 I wanted to verify this so I asked my wife if bitches liked smiley faces. Good news is I get to stay up watching movies on the couch tonight. *thumbs up*
That new wiring is super messy, especially if you're trying to make it light up additional lines the further down the elevator the button represents. But eh, that's the price for downwards vertical wiring I suppose (despite the fact I know I could compact the initial button lines out, what would be the point if they still need to travel downwards).
@roboticaust I have been working on cleaning this up for the past 3 hours. only way i can do it cleanly is by spacing out the buttons. But if you have a lot of floors then you need twice the space for the buttons. If I need any help it would be with this. *rips hair out*
Like I said, having to go downwards doesn't make for the cleanest wiring. You can compact the triggering other lines thing somewhat, but the downwards part of it kinda fucks it all up since you'd still need a ton of strangely placed blocks to achieve it.
Replying to myself like a dork, but I just downloaded the world save, opened it up and took a look at it and within about 2 minutes, I had a fairly elegant solution to the button change problem. If you move a block into position above the brown wool with the wire that goes two directions, it cuts the connection (hence resetting it). So need to tinker with finding an elegant way to run the wire to both a piston and delayed a bit into the rs-nor so it resets each button press.
Noticed a flaw or possibly my own ignorance in the design. Not sure which yet, but I think you forgot a floor since you're signifying stone as the base floor, but their are 5 floors total, meaning their should be 4 buttons at that top floor if I'm not mistaken. Looks like you forgot light grey since it goes dark grey, white, stone. Don't want to make a mess of wiring if it would be for nothing >.> but I got my idea working in a mediocre compact manner twice now. Hit me up today!
@roboticaust Each floor already has 2 button that take you down and they are right in front of you when you open the zipper. One on the left takes you all the way downs.( in my new design I removed all the stone which took you too the bottom) and the one on the right which takes you down 1 floor. That's why there isn't one with the others.
@roboticaust Yeah in the video I had stone but removed it and then I actually went around labeling with sign to get a better idea. I am going to upload my new world download here. It will be below my old one in the description.
Well I meant it skipped over light grey before. Just seemed weird to me. Didn't notice it until my 3rd configuration to try and squish it down that it was missing a floor in a sense. Also, some of your color coding was wrong too. Noticed some blocks you had labeled as teal were light blue on one floor lol.
Yeah, I got the piston idea to work in a few configurations (experimented with from the sides and from above), just wiring it to trigger all of them takes up a bunch of space. Getting the wiring from the buttons to where they needed to be wasn't too terrible though. Found a rather nice way to compact most of that down. But I'll wait on the new save then play around with that.
@roboticaust Awesome. The new save is out now. So there is the way you see installed right now. then there is the one behind the zipper. It's kinda like Minecraft addicts array for his minecart station.
This is a lot cleaner now that you have room for the buttons and less buttons at that. Lemme get to work putting in the piston resets for the other floor selections. Originally I thought what you had planned was making the one floor at a time more of an "execute" type thing and having the buttons set up to change how the execute performed. Which isn't that bad of an idea either to ensure it can be reset to single floor usage if a wrong button is pressed.
@roboticaust "Originally I thought what you had planned was making the one floor at a time more of an "execute" type thing and having the buttons set up to change how the execute performed" For the most part that is correct but it also allows for single floor when no buttons are pressed.
I just meant the recent changes reminded me of the ticker display I worked on. Input then execute. So floor selection, hop in and hit the execute and if nothing was selected, it would default to one floor. But the thing is, you would still need a way to default it to one floor to cancel out the floor selection, or you have to hit the button, travel to a floor you didn't want (or camp on the floor you are on til it finishes executing), then correct yourself.
The piston thing I was toying with was a way to reset button presses in case you change your mind about the floor. Seems kinda silly to implement if it still forces 2 or more floors to be selected into it if a button has been pressed already. Get what I'm saying now?
excellent addition to your elevator the floor selector
Can't you find a way to reset when choosing the floor(like just before it select the right floor) you want so you dont have to push the button in the elevator ?
