  • You are right, it was the VVT actuator. A common problem of the L3 motor until April 2007. From then on Mazda used an improved version of the actuator during production. Customers with this concern are eligible to get their actuator replaced within warranty time. A TSB (technical service bulletin) regarding all L3 models (Mazda 3 MPS/Mazdaspeed 3, Mazda 6 MPS/Mazdaspeed 6, CX7) has been released.
