  • What happened to this kind of beautiful?

  • Franj Sinatra too sings a beautiful version of this lovely song.

  • @albionplace Really? is his version here on youtube? I'd love to hear it.

  • @lesengir I have changed my sign in name. I'm sorry for the delay in replying to yiour email. Yes, Sinatra is on youtube with this beautiful song. Both versions are stunning, but, I have to say, as much as I love Jo stafford, Sinatra's version has a depth of feeling typical of his approach to such wonderfully written pieces. I hope you enjoy it.

  • Jessie Matthews version more magical than this one? Only the most devoted Matthews fan can think so.

  • Lovely dreamy version but cant help but I agree with Ynot 1666, Jessie owns it. Jessie Matthew's version seems to me a little more magical and makes my world oh so lyrical..

  • wow is all i can say

  • ANCING ON THE CEILING

From the London Musical "Ever Green"

    (Richard Rodgers / Lorenz Hart)

  • I love discovering a new song from this era. What a beauty this is .Can somebody tell me who the composer is

  • DODDIE STEVENS did the best version this song of course.

  • Don't let's forget that this was Jessie Matthews's signature number from the early 1930s. Jessie was a fabulous dancer, not perhaps the greatest singer but she owns this song as far as as I am concerned.

That said, this a terrific rendering - the best I've ever heard. I just don't want Jessie Matthews to be forgotten.

  • Beauty, charm, and one of the purest singing voices there is, or ever was.

  • One of Jo's best. Thanks for posting.

  • She's not only singing the song. She's putting all of her emotions into it. A wonderfull singer.

  • Chester, this is the best version of this song I've ever heard - better even than Ella herself. Do you have any idea why it starts after the first stanza of the song? The other versions I've heard all begin with "The world is lyrical/ because a miracle/ has brought my lover to me..."

  • @schnellguy , you are absolutely right she was in a league of her own, never to be beaten by any female vocalist - I'm so glad she is still with us and always will be, we love you Jo - the angels must be so happy to have you with them. See you later dear lady and thank you for all you gave us. Voldpilot
