  • Thanks for making such a video for her! Can I post your video on the Guangxu Bar on Baidu website? I believe many people will be interested in it! Thank you~>< Waiting for your reply.

  • Fantastic vid. Thanks for posting.

  • she died in a tragic way when she's only 24 years old, i think she's beautiful

  • She's eerily pretty.

  • For those intereseted in this love story, you must watch the Shaw movie. Ting Lung played the emperor and Ivy Ling Po played the Empress. The actress acting as Empress Dowager was a famous actress. Just forgot her name.

  • Bravo stunning work discovered here. Thank you for putting all this together. I would love you to get in touch with me . I have a very specific question to ask you about a sculpture of the last Empress.

  • Anchee Min's "The Last Empress" provides another perspective of her personality.

  • Love the Picture at 3:54! thank you for sharing!

  • 3:04 is particularly disturbing. Beautiful pictures! Thank you!

  • excellent song selection! Bjork, "all is full of love" an unlikely but fitting song for this movie i think. Well made.

  • excellent documentation. ^_^

  • Very Nice

  • When the Guangxu Emperor and Empress Dowager Tzu-Hsi were leaving the Forbidden City after the colonial powers conquered China for the Boxer Rebellion, the Pearl concubine threw herself infront of Tzu-Hsi begging them to let her come with them.

Tzu-Hsi, in no mood for her, ordered: "Throw this wretched minion down the well!" despite the pleadings of Guangxu.

  • It's pearl concubine because that was the translation of her title Zhen Fei or consort Zhen

  • two thumbs up monarchist. love the gowns Again and cool music

  • i ve always loved things manchurian.after watchin this vid, to my surprise mine birthday is as pearl concubine's,thanks for uploading. mmmm,,,,reincarnation

  • and what makes her so special? i mean, there were so many concubines of chinese emperors but, why is she even named ; pearl concubine'? did i miss something?

  • It's called "love" -you don't need to have a reason for it, it's a feeling. The Emperor loved her best because she loved him. Simple as that.

  • @KheMJoH Poor girl. She supported the Emperor Guangxu to fight back against queen dowager. 1900 when foreign invaders approached Beijing, the whole royal family had to run away. Before they ran, the Queen dowager asked an eunuch to throw her into a well. She is famous for this murder.

  • MY GOSH!!!!!U MADE IT!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes, quite a while back -someone wasn't paying attention ;)

  • He he sorry MaMonarchist. I haven't been surfing on youtube because of school :'(

Thank you so so so so so so so so so much!!!

  • thank you for all the pictures of pearl concubine, and nice pick of tune. Bjork, eh??? what is the name of the song?

  • wow thanks for sharing and, by the way where did you get all those pics ?

  • Lots and lots of searching -plus a few that were photoshopped.

  • This was nicely done MM, excellent pick of tune. The Pearl Concubine will always be remembered for her brave actions and of course the dedication and love toward Emperor Guanxu.

  • Glad you like it, the music was not my first choice, or even my second, Youtube rejected them so hopefully the third time was the charm.

  • Interesting. Just out of curiousity, what were your first two choices?

  • One was "Everybody Hurts", I'm not recalling the other at the moment.
