Japan's military is not sufficient to protect mainland Japan. Taiwan has a much better air force and army. (and marines, most importantly). Anyway, Atago is world's 2nd best, after KDX-3. Japanese leaders cared too little about national security. Rather than some equipment(which is not the world's best,anyway), Japan needs a territorial defence comprising 2 million active duty ,light armed soldiers and about 10 million reservists.
Ya well we dont really need our own army... you attack us you have to fight USA... and I dont think anyone want that! lol Iv talked to many soldiers stationed in my home and in Okinawa there is MANY soldiers from USA.
The US will not protect Japan or any other country forever. Our country is not that large but can mobilize more combat capable people in wartime than China.

They dont have to, a lot of their military hardware are provided by the americans. while china has to start from scratch in every aspect-industry, technology, trainning. if china has the kind of availability to western technology japan has, she would need only a portion of japanese expenditure in defend to achieve dominence over asia.
Japan should introduce conscription;instead of spending too much budget on equipment(which is not much better than that of other militaries but much more expensive), Japanese Army should be increased to 3 million active duty and about 30 million reserve forces. The japanese army should also carry out missions to eradicate organized criminals in Japan since these criminals may cooperate with North Korea in case of war.
The equipment of the Japanese military is in fact not better than that of other countries; in addition, a well trained,disciplined and determined infantry of young conscripts is ALWAYS better than an equipment-only military. Japan dosent have a military, America is Japans military. Japan just has the Japanese Self Defence Forces JSDF like you just saw. And these guys are traind exactly like the American troops so saying there there arnt traind well is like saying American troops arnt traind well.

They dont have to, a lot of their military hardware are provided by the americans. while china has to start from scratch in every aspect-industry, technology, trainning. if china has the kind of availability to western technology japan has, she would need only a portion of japanese expenditure in defend to achieve dominence over asia.

Japan should introduce conscription;instead of spending too much budget on equipment(which is not much better than that of other militaries but much more expensive), Japanese Army should be increased to 3 million active duty and about 30 million reserve forces. The japanese army should also carry out missions to eradicate organized criminals in Japan since these criminals may cooperate with North Korea in case of war.

The equipment of the Japanese military is in fact not better than that of other countries; in addition, a well trained,disciplined and determined infantry of young conscripts is ALWAYS better than an equipment-only military. Japan should also stockpile 30+ years of supply since in wartime Japan will be blocked of any resources from the outside by the CCCP and PRC military. Of course, Japan should have nuclear MIRV ICBMs.

Japanese army soldiers should get real training and real weapons, at least like those of Korean soldiers. The Japanese military in current status is not sufficient to protect Japan against infiltrating or insurgent forces, especially if they exceed regiment size. Korea has become a major international power with strong diplomacy and military; Japan only has economy. I think that Japanese leaders are less determined to protect their country than the Taiwanese leaders.

The real problem is that Japan does not have enough power to deter infiltration. Japan's military weapons are not all ahead of others; the lack of a well-trained and sufficiently manned infantry is the real thing that matters Japan. I don't think that Japan can defeat Burma's army in case of war.

JSDF can't attack the other countries. They have no bombers. They have no aircraft carriers. They have no nuclear weapons. They are just a self-defence force. I'm proud of Japan's policy, and I hope the government to maintain it in spite of China's expansion of military power.

I'm warried about the change of national policy. It have been seemed that Japanese people think the peace to be the most important idea. But Japanese are "atmosphere-reading"(kuuki wo yomu) people, so they may choose nukes and agressive military power. I hate that. I want Japan to be stupid but pure and honorable, rather than to be of hard power but cunning and shady.

lol, bullshit, Japan has been begging for the US government for F-22s because they see themselves to be at a disadvantage against PLA airforce. the JMSDF' truph cards: Kongo and Atago are both Arleigh-Burke class built by Mitsubishi. That means the Japs doesnt have to come up with their own shit. While the chinese under arm embargo has to start from scratch, and yet, the Chinese are catching up. Even Korean KDX-3 is better than Atago. envious of JMSDF, yeah, but that's history already.
