His contribution is far immense then any other Ghazal singer, espacially his contribution in introducing Ghazal genre to College Students & Youngsters.

But there are many greater, better Ghazal singers of all time. They are even still alive, esp. in Pakistan. But yes in India there is no better Ghazal singer alive right now. I could drive many, many miles for his ghazals concerts, and would do everything to get a handshake or a picture with him.His ghazals taught me the philosophy of life as Jagjit Singh sang for all of life's occasions.
