Thanks eyeontv for posting this. Doy you by any chance have the full extended version of the music. I worked at a CBS affiliate for years producing election night, but am kicking myself now for not keeping the election opens packages.

eyeontv, do you know who did the graphic design? It looks like Novocom to me, cause I think they did designs for CBS at that time - but I could be wrong.

Thats a good guess, I dont think the company is listed on the slate, I'll have to look, but Novocom could be right.

I'm sure it's Novocom, because their site showed the stills for the 1991 CBS Evening News graphic package (novo[dot]com/broadcast[dot]ht­ml). They didn't have the Campaign '92 stills, but its gotta be.

Was the "CBS Special Presentation" bumper before this?

Not that I'm aware of...CBS News and CBS Sports programs do not normally have a "Special Presentation" bumper before the actual program intro.

The NBC Decision 92 intro had the "NBC Special" bumper before it. Then again, I didn't see anything like that before the debates.

One thing I always liked about the CBS election theme from the 90's was the patriotic themed flute that played in some of the openings and closings. You can only here it a bit towards the end of this clip, but I recall them using it quite a bit in '96 too. To bad they used something different in '00 and '04.
