  • I think Mark Mancina wrote this.

  • Thanks eyeontv for posting this. Doy you by any chance have the full extended version of the music. I worked at a CBS affiliate for years producing election night, but am kicking myself now for not keeping the election opens packages.

  • does anyone have the 96 election opening?

  • eyeontv, do you know who did the graphic design? It looks like Novocom to me, cause I think they did designs for CBS at that time - but I could be wrong.

  • Thats a good guess, I dont think the company is listed on the slate, I'll have to look, but Novocom could be right.

  • I'm sure it's Novocom, because their site showed the stills for the 1991 CBS Evening News graphic package (novo[dot]com/broadcast[dot]html). They didn't have the Campaign '92 stills, but its gotta be.

  • this is the most amazing election music ever heard. Nothing this year matched this

  • Agreed!

  • Was the "CBS Special Presentation" bumper before this?

  • Not that I'm aware of...CBS News and CBS Sports programs do not normally have a "Special Presentation" bumper before the actual program intro.

  • The NBC Decision 92 intro had the "NBC Special" bumper before it. Then again, I didn't see anything like that before the debates.

  • did they use this for the 1996 election? This music is awesome cuz of the suspense

  • Excellent - the music without voiceovers. Do you have any other years? 2000 / 2004, or 1988?

  • Actually I think I might, stay tuned!

  • That would be great - I will indeed stay tuned.

  • Me too!

  • I'm disappointed - the videos covering 1988 and 1992 elections seem to have disappeared.

  • Any luck on finding these? Thanks!

  • eyeontv do you have this theme in mp3?

  • looks a little old for the 90's

  • One thing I always liked about the CBS election theme from the 90's was the patriotic themed flute that played in some of the openings and closings. You can only here it a bit towards the end of this clip, but I recall them using it quite a bit in '96 too. To bad they used something different in '00 and '04.

  • Great clip. Thanks for posting.
