thats a very smart fuzzy and cute dog... but one thing why make him sit there and wait for u to say eat the treat for so long.. im pretty sure its like more practise but i feel bad for the dog to to stay there looking at the treat and wanting to eat it so bad and ur keep telling him to not eat it so he can pleaz u. well anyways great training
I've watched your videos on Jasper and really would love some advice on my 9 week old sammy. I'm not sure if Jasper has this problem, but my Samson gets barky during meals and even though I ignore him, then praise him once quiet, he's stil outta control.. how do you tell Jasper off for something wrong that he is doing?
aw hes really cute and smart! ive had to sammys but they werent that smart! after living 3 years with a dog im gonna get one soon like in christmas shes supposed to be born really soon like the 14th of october and i hope my samoyed will be so talented like yours lol! :D oh and anyways how did you make him learn all that so well only by doing what you did in your vids like giving him treats when he obeys you and showing him how to do the things that you tell him to do?
Yeah I trained him by using the clicker + treats method. I only use positive reinforcement when training Jasper. I found it's been the best way, and he picks up on it VERY quickly. He's very smart. Repetition and clicker + treats is my recommended training method.
Congrats on getting a Samoyed soon and good luck :)
@JaspersDen heyy!! im the same person that commented about 2 years ago!! hahaha anyways jasper was such a help to sooth the wait for my Samoyed puppy! now she's 2 year's old and i also have a 3 month old Bernese Mountain Dog feel free to watch some of my vids of both of 'em playing ;)
Actually I did NOT name him after a character from twilight. When I got him, I'd never even HEARD of Twilight. Rude comments on my videos won't be tolerated and you just earned yourself a BLOCK for your rude comment, you moron.
PS: Learn to spell. You spelled "from" wrong, as well as "Samoyed" wrong. Now who's not smart.
It should have been "they're" as in THEY ARE. Not "there" as in "over there."
I do not usually partake in pointless internet warbling, but your post was just too moronic to resist responding to.
Also, to clarify, I named my dog Jasper after a place in Alberta, which is called Jasper. Do you even know where Alberta is on a map? Since you clearly cannot spell, I'd be very surprised if you knew basic geography.
@JaspersDen hahaha thats kinda funny even tho i dont even know ur responding to. thats nice to name ur dog after jasper i go there alot b4 i left to boise.
Just an observation-I wouldn't let him have the item you've told him "leave it" over. It could be sending him the message to "wait" instead. I'd pick up the "leave it" item & give him a treat from your other hand as a reward for a good job.
You don't want him chowing down on something you don't want him to have later. "Leave it" can save lives especially if the item is poison or something that could harm them if ingested. I use it on walks to leave cats & other interesting creatures alone.
Yes I realize that in puppy training class shortly after this video was taken, ever since then we've done it the way you stated above. Thanks for the tip though :)
Ha ha! My dog Harlow does the same exact trick! But instead of saying "Leave it," I say "Don't." She is a year old Chihuahua, and is black with tan markings. Instead of staring at the treat, she looks away, looks at it for less than a second and turns her head the other way.
try not to repeat yourself so much =),especially when the dog is still behaving properly because ideally you want to say "leave it" once and not have to worry about it again...unless of course you're just doing this for the novelty of it and not for practical training =P just remember if he breaks the command you can always correct him then instead of reminding him throughout, happy training!

You also used the wrong form of "there."
