  • I reload and I have both a 19 and a 66 How should I load the .357 mag round in this I heard they can't handle full house .357's just wondering

  • I picked up a Ruger Blackhawk .357 SS 1980 Vintage. I watched this video two days ago and had to get one! Mine is in excellent condition, and has seen few rounds through it.

    Be safe.......Shoot straight.

    Marc, Tampa, Fl

  • I finally shot one of these today, the longer version with hollow point rounds. They are pretty powerful, I was more surprised by the blast you can feel after shooting it and not the recoil.

  • @Youareabtch 158 grain hollow points

  • why do you hesitate to load all six rounds in your dad's gun?

  • @Makin27Bakin The firing pin rest on the primer on those old SSA guns not the safest thing

  • Just got a Rossi 461 357 magnum please do video

  • I picked up a security six .357 the other day. I love the weapon; that is saying a lot because I am a huge fan of autos but my dad got me into the .357 revolvers. Great weapons with excellent ballistics. Just a quick question for you: how much difference is there (speaking in terms of accuracy and range) from a 3in barrel vs a 4in?

  • Im 31 and I just bought my first revolver. Im learning with age,I didnt know what I was missing for along time.It was all Glocks .

  • the 357 magnum is just a pissed off 9mm.....lol

  • I've been watching your videos for a long time and only just now realized I wasnt subscribed. I am now though :)

  • I love my model 19 I can't wait to get something in .44 magnum ;-)

  • i love his vids

  • I love my snub nose 357 magnum. Man u are a killer shot.

  • My best friend got his Wesson .357 today. Now all I can think of is getting one of my own.

  • me gustan mucho tus videos hickok, eres un profesional, lastima que no le entiendo al ingles.,felicidades por tus videos.

  • Love it. glad I found your site. you obviously have loaded , unloaded and reloaded a revolver once or twice. nice to see a "safe shooter" as compared to a lot of the fools we see on here

    Cheers

  • just powerful enough.

  • hickok, about how far out is that small gong you're shooting at? Are you aiming above it at all? I guess the best question is, how flat is the trajectory on the 357?

  • @alexnet69, View more; comment less, please.

  • @alexnet69 He gives basic to intermediate background on each weapon he does, if you don't like it go to another channel. We don't want your kind here, so shh.

  • @Zboyco No, the 38 Special and the 357 Magnum having different numbers does NOT mean the caliber of the bullet is different. While the cartridges as a whole are different -- with the 357 being more powerful -- they both take the same bullet. I hope that answers your question.

  • Is .357 too loud for self defense? Let's be honest.

  • @capecodpirate7

    only for the bad guy

  • you are awsome man keep up the great vids

  • CHIAPPA RHINO. C'mon, you know you want to :)

  • My model 66 replaced the model combat magnum in stainless steel. They changed the design number, when the changed it from nickel platted, to stainless.

  • IT COULD BLOW YOUR HEAD OFF

  • @thomasproducer1 could have frangible rounds

  • hickok, you're a fucking beast!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @thomasproducer1 depends on what your shooting most lead bullets are fine but steel rounds will bounce right back

  • Love your reviews! Ive watched them before purchasing every firearm I have (since finding your vids). Today I just bought a Ruger GP100 after seeing your video on it.

  • You should do a review of the Rossi R46102 compared to the S&W's. They are 1/2 the price yet an awesome quality gun!

  • What do you guys think about the Rossi .357 magnum? Is it junk or is it ok for a first gun?

  • I bought a ruger sp101 3 in barrel today at a gun show. I had not fired a revolver in almost 20 years. I took it to the woods with a box of 38's and was very suprised at how accurate I was with it. It shot at point of aim, thank god, i'm sick of guns shooting low. I hit a bottle cap at about 12 yards. 1st shot was at the 2 liter bottle and when I saw I hit where I was aiming I shot the cap. I think this gun is my new favorite.

  • Just picked up the Ruger SP101 4.2 Inch.... Just curious what your thoughts are with this gun and if you have had a chance to throw some lead. Big fan of these videos.

  • I've been watching several of your videos and I found them very informative and entertaining , Kudos to you Sir !

  • IIRC, Patton called his 357 his killing gun, (in comparison to his Colt SAA)

  • Revolvers FTW!

  • @thomasproducer1 ya the bullet just falls down loses its energy

  • I am 25, yet I never caught on to the weak caliber semi-auto craze. I still loved my SR9 to death but the ol' GP100 will never depart from my life.

  • To reassure you hickok, I can vouch and say revolvers are more fun to shoot than most guns!

  • i have one but its nickel plated

  • 357 is one of the best guns around.very powerful and reliable.

  • Oh sorry, perspiration, ladies

  • My first handgun was a 357 and I still have it today. It will be passed down to my children some day.

  • I would love to see you review a COONAN 357 MAGNUM pistol. I own one and It is by far my favorite gun. Its a beast and incredibly accurate.

  • i always keep my s&w .357 loaded with 158 grain plus p .38s , but, man this guy can SHOOT!

  • As usual, wonderful job. Keep up the good work, God bless.

  • Seems the trigger spring has weakened. Why is that ammo making so much smoke?

  • Hello Mr Hickock! I was wondering if you know where i can find some info about my 686 by searching the serialnr? i know S&W have a sort of "bibel" where all is listed thou, but i live in Sweden and it's kinda hard for me to get my hands on one of those.

  • 9:03 That is some incredible shooting with a double action revolver. Love it! (I wish I could shoot like that. LOL)

  • Excellent recoil control :)

  • Are you clint eastwood's grandson?

  • A guy wants to sell me the same one he has (the short stainless one) for $150..... is that reasonable? ..... (I'm new to firearms)

  • @Dubtarded Thats a great price if its in good condition just make sure nothing is wrong with it

Sources i love guns and know alot about them

  • @EZOD22 Ooohh... ok... 2 problems: He is a known drug dealer.... .hes basically the kingpin of my school and i dont want to get involved in any transactions with him anymore lol , and second, i just found out it has "2 bodies under it" .....meaning in hood terms, "he shot 2 people and is trying to get it off his hands" ......i guess thats y the price was so low.... shame... =/

  • @Dubtarded Lmao i know what it means im like that you dont want a gun thats been in any crimnal activities cause then you a suspect if they see you own it

  • @thomasproducer1

If you haven't been hit by a bullet that bounced back at you, you don't shoot enough.

  • Hey Hickok, how do you feel about these great new revolvers that Ruger is putting out onto the market? (Ex. The Wiley Clapp GP-100 or the SP-101 Kit Gun?)

  • I've got a Ruger GP100 with a 6" blued barrel. I think its my favorite hand gun that I own to shoot. .357 Is such a great round & .38 specials are cheap to shoot. It's fun to be able to shoot double action or single action just for variety. Semiautos are great but a large revolver is just something special to shoot.

  • hickok, how much do you know about weapons and firearms?

  • @937738 This much *stretches arms wide apart*

  • @937738 Based on the number of videos and subscribers he has... A LOT!

  • @937738 , Not much, but I'm trying to learn.

  • @hickok45 then you are on a great way my friend, because this is amazing!

  • @hickok45 Thank you for the background info it's really cool learning the history behind historic firearms that where instumental in the securing of our nation.

  • @hickok45 Enough to be dangerous

  • @hickok45 great answer

  • @937738 i think hickok45 is the least informative person in the world about firearms. im sure eric holder knows more than he does!... btw .. sarcasm

  • I have a thing for revolvers, thanks!

  • @thomasproducer1, Of course not; that's nothing I would ever do.

  • @hickok45 can you make a vid about the jericho 941 i ask you yesterday via pm?

  • @MrAktenzeichenxy FYI, great question. Mr. Hickok usually doesn't respond to singular requests such as this but he does take into account all requests for guns to shoot. If there's enough interest or if its just a gun he's interested in and owns/has access to, he will do a video.

  • @RedRocketArms yeah i forgot he is now a celeb.it was only a question.i love the lokking of the jericho941 and in my country austria is it not easy to get the license for own a pistol!its crazy we build one of the best pistols on earth the glock series an its really difficult to get the license!fucking law austria i hate you for that!

  • @MrAktenzeichenxy sry i mean ''looking''

  • @MrAktenzeichenxy LOL, I agree, it stinks that you live in a country that makes a great gun and you can't even own one. That's one of the reasons I support the 2nd Amendment in the USA. If we are not vigilant, we could lose our right to own and bear arms in as little as one generation.

  • @RedRocketArms lucky man you can buy easy a pistol in your state!i hope that the law never change in america!america no firearms alowed-no one get a gun in ozher countrys!

  • @hickok45 Which round is moe powerful? The 45 acp of 357 mag

I am thinking of getting a concealed carry with 5-7 rounds but do not want to sacrifice power for concealment.

    Thank you Hickok.

  • I shot a 6 inch 357.

  • what holster are you using in this video mr. hickok? would it also fit a 4.2 inch barreled Ruger GP100?

  • Once when i was walking to school i found a bullet casing and on the back it said federal .357. now i know what gun it came out of. thanks :)

  • Your gun collection is very impressive. Do you have the 357 magnum in a 2.5in barrel model? That's the one I'd love to own :D

  • Does anyone know anything good about the Taurus tracker? I know they have established their name as a gun manufacturer through their revolvers, but does anyone have first hand experience with one?

  • I just got a model 65 in 4in barrel and am 25 lol. Great round keep up the great work!

  • I gots to get me one of those.

  • I have a .357 model 27 N-frame. Definitely a fantastic gun to shoot!

  • If you live where I do, a 44 mag or 357 magnum is kind of necessary if you go out to the woods. Grizzly bears like eating people who don't carry high power weapons.

  • Im gonna buy my first revolver soon, i cant decide if i want it in .357 or .38special but im excited to buy one either way.....

  • @pdxjason503 Buy a .357 magnum, most can shoot both the .357 and the .38 special without much difficulty

  • @filiberto599 Thanks, I think thats what Im going to do! The .357 mag looks like a fun round.

  • Hickock sir, my dad left me all of his firearms when he died last year. Among them is a Smith Highway Patrolman. Just founf another 1000 rounds at my moms house. I'm 37 and haven't fired this one in 20 years.

  • Love all your video's, can't tell you how informative they are & fun to view !

Appreciate all the quality history/information you provide on your collection of guns.

Not to mention how accurate of a shooter you are, wow !!

Thanks & keep up the amazing videos.

  • ever notice how gun experts are some of the most educated people on history? Seriously these guys KNOW their trade!

  • In Bill Jordan's era if you went into a gunfight with an automatic- you had better of made sure that your life insurance was paid up.

  • i do gun wessing

  • Oh shit you look like my grandpa!

  • i have shot a .357 magnum and i could barley keep back the recoil so got to give you props for shooting that quick with such acuracy

  • @SubZeroVsNoobSaibot

I own the Colt Python. It's a great gun. Very accurate. Very reliable. I put 100 rounds in it down range, no problems. I highly recommend it!

  • Love that hat ! I got the same one but army camo color

  • I want to see him shoot oranges out of a tree like Eastwood and van Cleef in For a few Dollars More.

  • i'm only 17 and i absolutely love shooting wheel guns, especially the older ones my dad owns. i'm just a little impatient when it comes to reloading

  • @sasquatch4liffee wheel guns?

  • @KILLERKROW23 aka revolvers

  • I am 22 years old sir, and I prefer the revolver actually. I own a few automatic's I just bought a model 66 -2 I trade on of my autos for it.

  • whats the difference between model 65 and 686

  • hickok is too good for Top Shot. Wish the History channel will go back to documentaries.

  • Great review. I love my Ruger SP101 in 357Mag. To answer another posts question. It has a bobbed hammer and for that reason it is what I carry and is my primary defense gun because if I have to use it "they" can't say that I had the hammer back and the "hair" trigger got pulled by mistake and put me in prison.

  • my friend has a .357 magnum

  • nice shot grand father

  • is that you personal range or is it public?

  • Don't worry hickok45, I'm 25 and my favourite handguns are mostly .357s. And I know a few people my age who'll help keep those awesome revolvers around. Thanks for the great channel and all the amazing reviews.

  • i dont know why but i love the smoke from the lube on the lead bullets even though clean up time is tripled.

  • Can you please tell me why did you cut off the hammer

  • what do you normally use for a ccw?

  • You are the top shot

  • that is the exact revolver my grandfather used as a police officer back in the early 70's. still have today, it is an awesome weapon

  • i wanna come chill with you for a month

  • Justin Bieber's penis is the size of the dislike bar. In Soviet Russia, the ground falls on you. Chuck Norris is somehow related to this incident. Rebecca Black sucks. Thumbs up if *insert obvious bullshit here*. My parents thought I was watching porn. 310 views and thousands of likes!? press 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 or 9 and thumbs up. I hate ads and I'm thankful that porno doesn't have them. I pee in the side of the bowl to make less noise!

There. Now you only have to read one comment

  • @Mellow6ties Not the right video for that... no one seems to be even making cliche comments like yourself.

  • Camper bitch haha jus kidding your cool @hickock45 give me a 357! I got one I just want a black one

  • CLINT EASTWOOD!!!!

  • dis grampa got mad skill

  • Just today I got to shoot my Neighbors old, I mean OLD, S&W Model 19. Amazing Gun.

  • @hickoc45 you are kool

  • saw a really cool smith the other day it was a snub nose .38spl it did not sport a sheathed hammer which I find as a major plus I'm not a fan of sheathed hammers, anyway i shit you not when i say the barrel was only mabey an inch long, it sported a 5 rd cylinder, i would love to buy one to keep in my safe in my bedroom, perfect for self defense or concealed carry lightweight as well :)

  • Go on top shot hickok45! they need an youtube star who is as boss as u to show the rest of them good ol boys a thing or two bout dispensing lead

  • I'm not very bullet savvy, but why are round nosed bullets not good for self defense?

  • @IgorVonE Generally the type of ammunition preferred for self defense would be hollow point rounds. These rounds are, of course, hollow in the tip, and are designed to expand when they hit their target. The surface area of the bullet increases and it slows down inside of the target. As opposed to many other rounds, hollow points are going to stop when the enter a target, and thus are thought to posses more stopping power.

  • @Keiseroll MMnnnyeah, that's understandable.. simple physics really :P thanks

  • @Keiseroll -Weren't hollow points originally made to be higher velocity rounds?

  • @saints360row Are you thinking of "Armor Piercing Rounds"???

  • @Privat3Kag3 -No.

  • @saints360row Ok, no idea then.

  • Comment removed

  • i love your video,s but the only thing that bum,s me out is you,r praising of glocks, what give?.s revolver,s rule!

  • I'll buy the longer barrel model with the wood grips from you :) It's beautiful

  • @ocarlson007 smith makes great and beautiful guns that is for sure

  • You need to go on Top Shot! I really enjoy your videos.

  • @TakeDetour actully if he goes on top shot i hear he will have to close his youtube channel...so no i dont want him to be on top shot...top shot is wack now anyways..

  • @JUKEBOXX1990 Oh, He needs to not then.

  • @TakeDetour better idea, he should guest star in an episode of The Walking Dead!

  • @maxrocks19 GREED that would be great, have him hole up in a house and they stumble across the hickok compound and hes got piles of dead zombies =)

  • @maxrocks19 he would attract too many zombies.

  • What in the fuckin world do we need any of these things for ??

  • holy crap what guns dont you have?!

  • @Psycho12345123 It'd be a shorter list, wouldn't it?

  • @aluisious pardon?

  • @Psycho12345123 The list of guns he doesn't have would be shorter than the list of those he does...was supposed to be a joke.

  • @aluisious oh okay i get it.

  • what is meantd by K frame?

  • Do you think the average 12yr old could shoot a .357 magnum?

  • Comment removed

  • @hickok45 how about a 357 cop derringer

  • 4 Peoples got their homes robbed , and the robber had a 357

  • does the .357 kick hard? my dad has one but im kinda nervous to shoot it

  • @southwest1998 my dad has one two and i was nervous to shoot it at first to haha. but to me it dosnt feel like any more kick than a 9. mil pistol. the only thing is fire shoots out the sides and you can feel the warmth on your hand.

  • @southwest1998 how old are you

  • @southwest1998 i turned 13 in march

  • @southwest1998 im 12 and im gonna go shoot my dads in a few days

  • @BlurConfusion me to, thats why i asked

  • @BlurConfusion I shot it and it wasn't bad at all, infact it was fun! me and my dad are gonna go shoot it some more tomorrow

  • why would roundnose bullets not be used for self defense. are round nose bullets less powerful.

  • i love this gun, specialy the version with the long barrell.

one question. is better the colt 1911 or the pyton?

  • @wolfschanze92 Neither one is better in my opinion, because the 1911 is a semi automatic and the Python is a revolver. Each one has their positives and negatives, and in my opinion they come out equally.

  • @wolfschanze92 Python is better for power. And 1911 is better for accuracy. They are pretty much equal.
