man i just got home from this move about an hour ago and i must say... im not sleeping tonight lol. it wasnt just the ending but the drag in the hallway almost made me piss my pants. all in all GREAT movie!

i watched this movie with my girl and the shocking ending had us reeling with all the built up tension, however , after opening weekend i was given a dvd screener (i dont have it anymore) with the psychological ending. Im not debating the endings, however if you really , and i mean really want to screw ureself out of a good nights sleep, watch it with headphones by yourself, my JBL headphones made me feel like i was in that room and i could every sound made by that "presence"

I wasn't aware of the alternate ending. And I was just watching the trailer online recently -- at night -- wearing Bose Headphones (Quiet Comfort 15) and that was a creepy experience. It was scary. I think however, that when the DVD is finally released a lot of the scare factor will be lost. For best results, the film should be seen in a reasonably full movie theater.

spielberg made the ending shown in theatres. however the true ending made for this film was not shown to the general public. kinda sad really because the orginal ending lets your imagination run wild while the spielberg ending is "in your face" to say the least

Good Job-I saw the movie last night and was impressed with it. One of the best supernatural movies I have seen. Too bad some people do not understand how well the film was written,filmed and acted.

Thanks very much! I can see why a film like this could easily be maligned, but the genius of this well-worked film is what the audience (namely a packed-house audience) brings to it. Subtle generally works better than overkill. I agree with your assessments.

Good review! This movie scared the hell out of me and had my girlfriend keep the nightlight on while clutching me as we slept. All in all it was an unnerving experience.
