  • I sing this song. I'm mr macafee in our musical!

  • @walleyewinder23 as am I :D

  • The whole mcafee family is great but doris is AWFUL! She's so plain

  • Im playing randolph

  • I get to play mr macafe in a production!!!

  • Im Miss.Macafe For my SCHOOL!!!!!! LOL

  • mr.macafe is a horrible actor and his face scare me a little....

  • I was casted as Mrs. Macafe yet in the school and this song is the hardest song! Well I may be partial sense I am a lyrical soprano having to sing an alto part witch some times i cant even hit its so low. :P

  • great audio but let me outta here!

  • i play mrs.macafe in this play and i hate this song -___- and mr.macafe -_____-

  • Mr.McAfe kinda scares me with his faces!!!

  • I was only watching this because of Mad Men. It's actually a terrible load of crap. The film must be awful.

  • @kenmarkwalsh shove up it your ass you dick shining, cum eating, bitch face

  • the hooded claw in penelope pitstop!

  • I'm Mrs MacAfe.

  • paul lynde...im sure he was the voice of some animation in the 70's. does anyone know please?

  • @elvisuk

he was the hooded claw in penelope pitstop.

  • @ladylamb2001 And Mildew Wolf on "It's The Wolf".

  • @MrLogoman007 i loved 'it's the wol-uff'

  • @elvisuk He was Templeton the rat in Charlotte's Web. Don't know if he did anything else animated.

  • @elvisuk

Charlotte's Web. He was the rat.

  • I've always loved this song since I was a little girl and first saw it in the movies.

I love the harmonies. It's actually very pretty. Paul Lynde makes me laugh.

  • 1:35 HA! What is he looking at?

  • Love Bye Bye Birdie

  • I directed this musical once, and I still think that this is the best song from this show.

  • who in their right mind would start singing when they get good news?lol!

  • this was on tcm a last week

  • I remember when Paul Lynde sang this song on Ed Sullivan's TV show back in the 60's. Sullivan seemed to get a big kick out of it.

  • Three first rate numbers and the rest so god awful it can be painful to sit through. At least there was the rare sight of the great John Charles Daly in color! Anyway, whatever magic there was in the broadway show was long gone by the time this mess was made. Ann Margaret, Janet Leigh, and Dick all gamers but the movie, just dreadfull.

  • best song in the movie

  • Hahah oh my god, I love this movie <3

  • omg @ 1:32 the dad turns evil!

  • <3 it

  • omg, i LOVE this song! i laughed myself sick when i first watched it when i was ten. paul lynde is hilarious!!

  • He ad a good voice . Whats funny is that he said the movie should have been called Hello Ann Margaret rather than ByeBye Birdie .

  • this is my favorite part of the movie, probably because the dad is just so hysterical, I loved him, he made the movie for me.

  • Paul Lynde..very talented dude

  • This was fun to watch.

  • Paul Lynde is my dream dad.

  • God I miss Lynde

He was such a talented guy

  • I love Paul Lynde. He's my favorite closeted homosexual. It sucks he's dead because he was a riot.

Fact: He's the inspiration for the Alien's voice on American Dad.

  • Closeted? I can't think of anyone more openly gay!

  • Wasn't he closeted until the 70's? Maybe I'm wrong :P

  • @jehouse Paul was an example of "gay but not gay." He was clearly gay but never openly said he was gay.

  • @NoirFan01

Well yes but he was really flambouyant!

  • @jehouse Yes, Paul was a flamer in his own way. As a kid I had no idea he was gay. I just thought he was smarmy. lol

  • @ChachiTelevision1979

Wait.... you mean Roger ISN'T voiced by Paul Lynde???? LOL.... j/k.......

Yeah, he was like Bob Crane... very closeted... but when you look back on it, it's easy to spot.... kinda like Rip Taylor...

  • @conradragzoff Paul Lynde wasn't closeted by the standards of the time, nor was Rip Taylor. Everyone knew. It just wasn't discussed in the media.

  • @conradragzoff Paul Lynde was very openly gay in Hollywood especially in the 70's. He and Charles Nelson Reilly showed how fun and non-threatening gay men really were and I think everyone there loved them for this. Oh, by the way, speaking of closet cases...what is the real story about Eddie Murphy and the male transvestite prostitute he was found with in his car parked on a back ally right off Santa Monica Blvd. at 4:15 AM a few years back. NATIONAL NEWS AT THE TIME!

  • This is my favorite song from "Bye Bye Birdie". It was a stroke of genius for the producers to let Paul Lynde reprise his original Broadway role for the movie version. He was BORN to play Harry Macafee. What a hilarious talent he was. THANKS for sharing this delightful clip with us! :)

  • The father's part is hard if you sing bass most of the time. It gets so high there at the end for someone used to singing so low.

  • homosexuals are gay

  • and deep!

  • ugh.

  • This was my absolute favorite movie from my childhood. Ann Margaret was beyond sexy and Paul Lynde (the father) was hilarious! This clip was one of the highlights of the movie. Thanks for posting! It brings back many fond memories.

  • From 1948 to 1971, dozens of comedians, singers, musical groups and other performers got their first national exposure on the Ed Sullivan Show. Watching Ed Sullivan on Sunday nights was almost like a religious ritual for millions of American families. Hence, the mock church choir treatment of this song. In show business, Ed Sullivan was God!

  • Wow, nothing like our Randolph

We settled with Randolph. The one kid in our high school whose voice hasn't dropped. But he is a great singer.

  • why does he talk so weird. the guy that sings first

  • Comment removed

  • thats uncle arthur from bewitched and that was his screen voice. he was a classic comedian from the 60s rip!

  • The guy is Paul Lynne, known for this, and 'Bewitched' and other stuff in the 60s and 70s and he affected his voice in order to funnier, and it usually worked. He was also gay, out, and that was what he was, without saying it, trying to affect, so so one would black ball him, which they did back then. Ciao!

  • @JFairy789 paul lynde?that's just his voice.

  • i auditioned the other day &. i got mrs. mcafee. i wasnt exactally shooting for her, but oh well. i'm happy i got a part!

  • Do you happen to attend a school called LCA? Cuz I do and I went to Bye Bye Birdie on Sunday.

  • Nopee. i go to Blue Mountain High.

  • Wow, I remeber watching this as a kid. Brings back some memories.

  • in the play im albert!!! i was feaking out when i read the cast list =D they gave me the script and i have a bunch of lines.

  • I can honestly say it's like nothing I have ever seen before...

  • 1:40 ! ! !

    HE MEAN IT !!!!

  • LOL

  • hahahaha

  • Twilight?

  • i was gloria before. but then they changed my role :) cause yeah.

  • The Mom in Bye Bye Birdie also played the Mom in the Living Doll episode of the old Twilight Zone shows, with Telly Savalas.

  • i'm playing kim.. but if the guy playing mr. macafee was THAT creepy, i would not do it! lol

  • That is Paul Lynde, a very funny comedian from the sixties and seventies.

  • haha. i was saying if the person playing mr. macafee in the play i'm in. i know who mr. macafee was in the movie :)

  • Gotcha!.

When I was growing up, Paul Lynde was the funnyman of the decade. I think everyone liked him!

  • OHHHHHHHHH MAI GOD, THIS IS SOOOO CREEPY. Because I'm playing Mrs. Macafee. And...

I mean, did you HEAR THAT LAUGH?

Did you SEE the MANIACAL FACE on his FACE?

    ....

    face on his face...

    interesting concept.

    But yeah.

    That just creeps me out.

  • OmGz!

    I'm Mr. Macafee too

Can't do that laugh for my laugh o.O

  • Mr. Macafee- my life! Love him! he cracks me up SOO badly. My favorite character EVER!!

  • My favorite musical, this clip is very funny

  • I wonder what Ed Sullivan thought of all this?

  • Paul Lynde was a funny man

  • Mr. Macaffee cracks me up so bad!!!!!!!

  • I absolutely love this song!

Actually..I absolutely love all the songs.

Especially "Are you gonna be sencere?"

    Birdie is so cute. :)

  • i like the new movie better. even though the girl who played kim was kinda a diva type, everyone else was really dramatic and fun to watch. the only gross part was that vanessa williams had to kiss jason alexander. if you don't know him, hes the short fat bald guy on seinfeld.

  • i was mrs. macaffee in the play in the spring. i got to do all that lovely harmony. the best part was that i got to be a family in the play with all my friends.

  • i love this version of the movie!! the remake is not good

  • i love this version of the movie!! the remake is not good

  • This is my favorite song from the whole movie!! Paul Lynde is AMAZING! Steve Carrell(Don't know how to spell his name) does like THE best impersonation of him!

  • was this from 1963?
