no.... If you want a good word processor you'll have to buy iWork (but its not that expensive compared to Microsoft office) but macs come with text edit, which is a basic word processor like wordpad on windows

You did the right thing not purchasing the 13 incher back when it was just a MacBook before the 'Pro' status. A £1000 Mac with no FireWire connectivity at all was NOT a good move on Apple's part. The addition of the SD slot finally is cool, something even my 17" still doesn't have yet.
