  • I love this, I was born in '57 but remember it so well.

  • No Dysfuntional families back then.......Everyone pitched in and knew there place, but i must admit we could never afford home help!

  • .....Ahhhhh how lovely....I'm little again....(born in 1955) I loved Spotty Dog!

  • sam got splinters from missus scubbit when he tried to get his leg over !!

  • Oh man, I was just getting into this when it ended... Nooooooo - Many happy memories spent watching this. Loved Spotty dog :-)

  • Yep I was born in 1948 and I remember watching this as a little girl - left England in the early sixties.

  • i´M TRYING TO FIND THE THEME MUSIC FROM (THE ORIGINAL)" wATCH WITH mOTHER" PROGRAMMES .aNY suggestions??

  • @id655sounds

The piano music on this ( woodentops ) one is 25 Norwegian Folk Songs and Dances, Op. 17 - Kulok

  • when is this stuff going to be on dvd !!!

  • Yes! I was born in 1955, and I watched this before the sixties arrived.

  • @c925sct The music is The Cow-keepers tune by Grieg Opus 63 No.2

  • Mid 50's definitely, this was always on Fridays - I loved it!

  • @bbellab thought it was wednesday

  • @haybee12 Bill and Ben was on on Wednesdays. It was Picture Book - Monday, Andy Pandy - Tuesday, Bill and Ben - Wednesday, Rag Tag and Bobtail - Thursday and The Woodentops - Friday.

  • @shrivel1 Blimey! Somebody's got a good memory! I'm a child of the 60's myself, so I grew up with Trumpton, Chigley & Camberwick Green...but I couldn't tell you what days they were screened!

  • @BritNostalgia I know, it's weird but if you look at some of the other Watch with Mother posts on here, you'll see I'm not the only one.

  • OK BritNostalgia. Thanks

  • Not quite just post war. Thsi is from the mid 60's ahhhhh

  • @Katfishh I think you will find that this originally ran from 1955 - 58, but was repeated until the early 70's.

  • @BritNostalgia Definately the 50's - I was born '55 and remember this. I've also got the video now and they're just wonderful memories; (apart from memories of going to the Dentist, Doctor, School Nurse and the teacher who used to knuckle me on the temples because I couldn't do my "arithmetic" - she would be in prison if she did it now-a-days! - scarred me for life that did). Thanks for posting

  • @waldenhouse No problem. Yeah, I had the knuckle treatment too! I'd like to see them try it now. I live in a small town - and so do most of the teachers who used to bully us back then. They didn't stop consider that we would eventually be on an even footing with them! Payback's a bitch!

  • @waldenhouse The school nurse! Wow, what a memory that conjured up! I remember we used to have to line up outside her office to see her, and she always gave us a spoonful of some ghastly, black medicine to take - what on earth was that and what good was it supposed to do? How times have changed....

  • @Katfishh mid 50s

  • @Katfishh 3.30 pm wednesdays mid 50s

  • @Katfishh Actually, it's from the 50's, because I used to watch it as a child.

  • Theres a traindriver with NIR called woodentop.

  • Makes you feel very old!

  • Brings back happy memories of the england team

  • Marvellous :) I watched this and rag tag and bobtail etc when I was little!

  • @Melodysk Rag, Tag & Bobtail is just slightly before my time (I was born in 1963), but I have seen clips, so I know what you're referring to. The Woodentops was made in the 50's, but played on the BBC until well into the 70's.

  • @Melodysk Rag Tag and Bobtail were my favourites. Have found an episode of them on You Tube too.

  • From three years after I was born. Thanks so much.

  • @patches53 . You're quite welcome. I just wish I had more Woodentops footage to put on here. Who needs 3D computer graphic cartoons when you've got good ole' Spotty Dog!!

  • @damienmildury How true.

  • @damienmildury woof woof to that !!
