Yes they are ; though, hyenas aren't really canines. Actually, they are genetically closer to mongooses and meerkats, and also share some similarities with felines. They are really unique creatures :)
For once, it is good to see people act with kindness towards an animal which is usually victim of his popular (and totally erroneous) image. Hyenas are as essential as any other wild beast in the natural ecosystem. Very nice video !
