Adya himself also spent 3-4 hours a day meditating, under the guidance of a teacher, for six years before experiencing an initial awakening at the age of 25, and then another seven years of practice until a second, deeper awakening at 32. So, a lot of hard work.
I believe Adya when he says awakening is happening more frequently, but one should never underestimate the difficulty of it for most people. Whether you have an idea about how it 'should' be or not, the reality is that so many of those who authentically wake up tell stories involving great determination in practice and bouts of existential terror, rage, grief, despair, and an emotional rollercoaster as the mind purifies. This is commonly termed the 'Dark Night of the Soul'.
@Simon0 hello there just read a couple of your comments and thought i would respond as you seem to be soul searching but not sure if you are. The biggest thing to understand is that as homer simpson put it " trying is the first step to failure" , ironically he is right, why because as Ady points out trying is a concsious decision. Meditation is a wonderful thing but the more you search for the answers the harder they are to find, this is because there are no answers only questions.
@joinery11 hi thanks for both your comments. Yes i am still searching. At the moment i am i would say in a slightly confused state. Im gonna see how it plays out!
@Simon0 anything i can do to help, i will. just one thing to stop the confusion .......stop searching........ you are already (in essence) everthing you can and will be, you are unaware of it because you continue to search, if you remove everything that isnt real from your mind, i.e. the past and the future, you are only left with the present moment and your essence, when you know this, you are enlightened. I wish you well. the truth shows itself to you when you let go, so do yourself a favour.
@Simon0 What is seeking my friend? That's the core to your dilemma and mine. Seeking is a joke! It's a sign that what you are looking for is not always already present.
@Countrychiddler its kind of to do with stories i have heard. like stories about people who meditated for thirty years and become enlightened. this gave me the idea that there is something to realise, somewhere to go. otherwise why does someone need to meditate for 30 years to see it.
@Simon0 also, The truth is in the still mind, this is where enlightenment is. So many people see enlightment as a huge and incredible thing achieved only by the elite, through dedication and through constant meditation, this is not so. Yeh ok its wonderful to be enlighted, but you will not gain an enlightened mind by trying, quite the opposite is needed. Once you let go of the need of control then you will become enlightened, you will wish only love to everyone because this is how you feel.

ive had this idea since birth you need to be special. it comes from stories of people meditating for 30 years before they become enouightened.
That made me think enlightenment will be too difficult for me as i havent got the right stuff to be able to do that..

Agreed, I think people are beginning to notice that spirituality is just a concept, and that the experience is much more than the concept.
