I always see a tendency with musician brides or girlfriends to act as if she is part of the band or the musicians herself; for one example, when Larry is asked if HE practices before a show, she is the first to dismiss the thought. So so silly >_< We get it! You are his wife, get over it!!
Who is that lady? Tell her too shut up! Jesus Christ, she's so rude and those people are so loud! Show some respect! This man is trying to interview "Larry Graham" not his "wife" or "main squeeze" or whoever she is. I found this interview to be so offensive. No joke, I had to recollect who Larry Graham was because he's so old school and guess who inquired about him. ..MARKLOWE! I wouldn't even know this guy excisted if it wasn't for him. What a class act. You can't even approach the guy.
I just saw an article in the New York Post say that Sly Stone was broke and living in a van. If it's true, what kind of world are we living in that could allow that to happen?.
Hi Marlowe, this video is awesome!!! you must have been so happy to interview the legend... btw I subscribe to your channel ;) you are the biggest thing on youtube bass, all credit to you.
Dude, Mr. Graham still looks young. There's no wrinkles at all, he looks like when i was forty but with glasses. Must be the funkin' powers keeping him young, or something. Or maybe I just need to fetch my glasses.
How awesome for you! We all benefit from your efforts, Marlowe! Keep on doin' what you do! (noticed you're sportin' the Zappa sticks, too. A tribute?)
Congrats Marlowedk I am so profoundly hyped for you! This clip is evidence that if you pour your soul and passion into what you believe - you can DRAW your dreams into reality - a GREAT lesson for all of us who have greatly benefited from your capacity to SHARE your passion. Thanx for SHARING this clip, too!! :-)
Thomas - so happy you got to interview your idol. You deserve it, and you do an amazing service for the bass-playing community. Thanks for all you do!
I loved how Marlowe lost control of his recorder when Larry Graham told him " I was actually telling them about you!" . A beautiful moment caught on video camera.
MarloweDK, you're really doing good work for bass and for bass players. It's good to be a great player and have a hit website -- but you've got the class to appreciate the players who've gone before. I admire you and thank you!
Interesting interview. I went to see him in San Carlos California with Graham Central Station as the opening act for The Crusaders. Two of my favorite guitarist at the time, Larry Carlton(Crusaders) and Hershal Happiness(GCS). I went to see Clarence Gatemouth Brown at San Jose State in the early 80's. I thought to myself that Larry and Clarence were very similar in approach to the instrument. Now I know why
Such a great video! Obviously a very emotional moment for you...the interview is such a pleasure to watch. Did you grow the disco 'stache for the occasion?
Marlowe...sorry but I'd like to ask something thats has nothing to do with bass (but plz, answer anyway asap ;] tks): Is racism present in Denmark, I mean from danish citizens? (not from all of them of course).
@paleceumacolneta Yes we do have kind of racism against immigrants here - there exists a rightwing party for the scared and uneducated mostly from rural areas - go figure.
@paleceumacolneta What is your definition of racism? Most Americans that I speak with do not go out of their way to hate people in general. What most Americans do hate is what people do!!! Crimes perpetrated by certain ethnic groups plus their laziness do not help the cause of accepting certain cultures in America let alone in the world.Alot of people throw around the racist conotation and really do not know understand the truth of what is in people's hearts.
@GalaxyDaveD I don't mean to be rude but, firstly, I'm not interested in what North-Americans think about it, and, sorry but...are you presuming that I don't know what racism is?
And racism is the stupid fact that some people think that they are better because of their bloodline, culture and some other factors.
And I don't know to wich ethnies you're refering to.
Good for you MarloweDK! I hope, one day, to meet Les Claypool. I got to meet Norwood Fisher and he was very nice and very patient with me. Looks like Larry is a good guy.
Amazing! The story about "Okie Dokie Stomp" is wonderful! Clarence was the real deal and I was lucky enough to meet him...he was a favorite of so many including Keith Richards and Eric Clapton among many others. What a privilege for you...proof that great things happen when you believe in the power of music!
Hey Marlowedk, i have something very important to tell you: I might be hallucinating, but I'm pretty sure I heard your voice in a Chemical brothers song, they might have sampled your voice! The track is
Chemical Brothers - The Devil is in the beats
I'm pretty sure it's your voice in it. Tell me what you think. I recognize your voice.
@MarloweDK Oh, your accent is so german!! :)) I always think of that when I hear you talking, because I had a german history professor in university :)
Great interview Marlowe! You were very composed, even though you could tell you were very nervous! What a thrill to meet him, let alone have him recognize you..... Larry is a class act, and was diggin' your questions! Looking forward to more....!!!
