@ian2008931 He's just ok, yet he's an All-American who happens to be the leading candidate to receive the NCAA basketball national player of the year award? Lol Jared Sullinger's a beast
hahha yes i was very wrong i will admit, jared was arguably the best player in the nation at parts of this year, but id say its fredette for the season.......NBA potential? I really dont know how good he can be but wont be doubtin him anymore
The kid is dominant at 17 and 10. He is surrounded by talent. If he went to a team with out talent he would be 25 and 11, early! Plus, his game is mature beyond his years. He reminds me of how Charles Barkley and Adrian Dantley use their lower body to get position so that they can get their shot up. As well, his upperbody is strong. And he will commit to the weight room even more. He is going to look like a conditioned defensive end playing basketball in a few years. He's a beast.
This guy may do well in college, but he will not be good in the pros. If hes 6'9 (more like 6'7 or 6'8) he doesnt have the hops to play as a small center/pf in the nba, But theres still a lot of time
Played with his brothr. Played for his dad. Satch teaches good post play and fundamentals. He will do fine. He dominated Findlay Prep and can take over games. His fundamentals remind me of Duncan. He used to come to are open gyms when he was in 5th or 6th grade and Satch would let him play against the Freshman and Sophmores. He was killin them. He's not flashy but will be like Karl Maone with his passing ability and ability to shoot. They have projected him to go lottery 6th round next year.
He has good hands & soft touch....lol....seriously though he can score & obviously he can block shots looks to be an average leaper for his height but his shooting from the outside could make a difference looks like he needs to hit the weight room though get a bit more solid. oh he has to improve his left hand..has to be able to score as well as dribble with his off hand...if he is going to be an outside threat he REALLY has to improve his handle has alot of potential though
He has good hands & soft touch....lol....seriously though he can score & obviously he can block shots looks to be an average leaper for his height but his shooting from the outside could make a difference looks like he needs to hit the weight room though get a bit more solid. oh he has NOOOOO LEFT HAND didn't shoot left once that I saw or dribble drive left either has a TON of potential though
This guy is a beast, 6'9" I saw somewhere he is listed at 280, muscles, athletic, can handle, can shoot. Develope the ball handling a little more, and quickness and we're looking at LeBron on steriods. He can shoot, dunk, post up, play D on the low post. I'm excited to see what he does for Ohio State
NBADraft.net compared him to Al Jefferson; that's a good comparison, with maybe a touch of Carlos Boozer's athleticism (before Boozer went to Duke and put on 40 lbs.).
He'll be a viable offensive threat at OSU, but I think he's going to have problems on the defensive end. He needs to drop some weight so he can get back on defense quicker. The college game is a lot faster than high school, and a good team will get the ball back up court pretty quick. Although other centers may not be able to muscle their way to the basket, they'll be able to outrun him. He's going to need to sit out frequently to catch his breath.
He is already getting into better shape. I saw him play in Oregon with some of the best basketball recruits from all over the world, and he dominated that game with his speed and strength.
i think with him deshaun and some returning players they will defintley win the big ten i dont usually like ohio state but latley theyve been really fun to watch
i wouldnt call him fat or buff i just wanna say he hasnt completely grown into his body...with that give him 2 years at least at OSU and he will be a monster
certainly he could be leaner, (and probably will be before long if you know Matta) but the notable thing to me is how amazingly athletic, graceful, and highly skilled he is carrying all that bulk.
OSU opponents should start hoping for another 1 and done, if they aren't already doing that. it could be truly scary, considering what else they have -- and have coming in -- if this kid stays 2 or 3 years.
i dunno buddy, saw him play last night in Northland's win against Findlay Prep (a school that starts 5 future D1 players).. flat out dominated with 32 pts and 17 rbs.. and they had 2 guys that were 6'10", one goin to Texas next year.. also, he is looking a little thinner than last season... he is such a student of the game as well, he has no worries at the next level, and I'd say he'll end up being fine at the level after that
Yeah because all the guys in college aren't the same players he's been dominating on the national level for years. Don't underestimate Jared, he's going to be a beast.
@tayshaun128 You do know that these are his Junior season highlights right? His athleticism and explosiveness improved dramatically his Senior season. His AAU team won more consecutive national titles than any other team in history. He was a two time Mr. Basketball in Ohio. I think he'll be fine at OSU.
@youdontknowme25 I agree he's got to lose weight. He has good fundamentals, but he lacks quickness against these high school guys. I'm sure if I looked around for an AAU clip, i'd see the same thing. He's a Big, that's physical. But he's still gonna be growing.. just needs to lay off the Little Debbie's..
@youdontknowme25 I hate wen guys act like they are experts on young players. You have no clue how he wud be in the NCAA. Shut your mouth and be spectator!
@youdontknowme25 u do realize that the same awards he won in HS are the same awards, Lebron, Kobe, Dwight, Wade, JORDAN, etc (no need to name more) won in High School? dude is gonna own at the college level, yea he gonna lose weight, but he still gonna be dominant.
@youdontknowme25 most players his height dnt weigh 280lbs, he has slimed down since you comment 10 months ago to 280. he wont have to change a thing, this guy is about to dominate the paint like shaq did in his prime.
@youdontknowme25 well you certainly are wrong so far...umm, he's averaging 18 points and 10 boards a game with the undefeated buckeyes...damn...dude is a beast
I made myself look dumb? How by watching him play about 20 games in person, or how about watching his AAU team All Ohio Red, or I guess, Rivals, Scout, Espn, and just about every expert should throw out his highschool highlights. I beg to differ, you really really made yourself look dumb, there winner. I love people who think they no somenthinng but in reality you no what you are told, not learned on your own.
shanestt, YOU ARE AN IDIOT, plain and simple. Hes low and fat you are a stupid idiot, and everything you ever say regarding basketball will not be worth shit. You presented a clear lack of knowledge as well as a the stupidest remark of the year on You Tube, and my friend that is saying alot.
I agree that he looks a little over weight and slow. But ohio states fitness program will get him in shape. And I also agree that you should never EVER take highschool highlights as a background for a successful collegiate career. You just made yourself look really dumb,
BUT FOR THE BUCKEYES, Sullinger put up 30+ and won the game with clutch free throws for his team tonight. GO BUCKS!! :D
And this guy has a nice body compared to Mullens. He can post-up can put the ball on the floor. Also looks very confident about his game. His gonna be a good player.
BJ Mullens went to my school and a looked alot better than that in high school and everyone knows his epic college failures at ohio state. This guys got alot of potential but those who ecpect him to be first team big ten his freshman year are probably going to be disapointed.
BJ Mullens lacked the skill set that Jared has. His outside shot is very smooth and consistent, his post moves and footwork are superior to Mullens', and he's more of a competitor than BJ ever will be. This is a bad comparison to say the least.
@cityleaguehoops Exactly. Two completely different players. Another big difference between the two I see in the vid... Sullinger used two hands when rebounding ;-) Mullens had superstar size and athleticism, but no desire to excel and improve at the collegiate level. It was just a pit stop on the way to the NBA.
BJ Mullens was a fucking idiot. He couldn't learn the offense, so his job was to be tall and play defense. And he even sucked at that. Don't ever compare any recruit to that 7 foot waste of life. Fuckin BJ Mullens
Are you serious? BJ Mullens played in the MSL where the average player is 6' at best, so this comparison is a joke... And not trying to sound racist, but there were a total of maybe 6 black dudes in that whole league. My point is, there weren't ever many good basketball players in the MSL, best ever was Gary Trent, then Mullens. Plus shit, Mullens is barely seeing PT in the league.. His work ethic sucks..
