Daaaamn.....I 4got all about this classic shit!!! Aww maaan this was my shit!!! This came out in my high skool yearz! I'm glad I got to experience shit like this! I feel fortunate!
what were they thinking calling themselves BUMS? I know its well-meaning acronym and all that, but its hard to take a group serious when they callin themselves that. They played themselves.
easily one of the most slept on albums in hip hop history. every track is gold, just like alot of the l.p.'s that came out between 83 & oh, let's say 98. fuckin empty-v bullshit these days.... the wack eyed cheese, lili waynus, soulja toy, drake the fake, etc. , all that shit is hip pop or pop hop or whatever.
Ah man i was in the 9th grade for this, i miss these days, where the heart of hiphop go, hard as hell to find quality like this, shout out to 1996 my favourite year, bless
I remember when a mixed sample cassette found its way into my hands and this was on it. I had to run out and buy the album. B.U.M.S. album was tight from the beginning of side one to the end of side 2. Hip Hop today is lack luster and is in need of an overhaul and a Renaissance period. "When all rappers participate its fate for rap to elevate." What happened to that?
@Cr00klynD0dger Don't worry bro , i have a dream to bring Classic Hip-Hop Back , im gunna do that threw my music , all 90's beats all day , back to when talent was everywhere
man 1995 Bosnia we didn't even have electricity bu we managed to tape yo mtv raps somehow and watch it when power comes on after weeks without ...this was a medicine
i bought this cd on a whim back in the summer before 9th grade and still have it after 15 years. i just downloaded the songs i like off itunes. My favorites are Wreck your ears, Lyfe n Tyme, and Let the music take your mind, among others. Westcoast smack is a funny track also
Yo these niggas could rap, they have an excellent rhyme scheme and technique. This isn't an easy beat to rap to most would rap slow as hell on this beat. But they rode the beat quite nice. And put alot of words together and managed to stay on beat.
"When ya album sits on da desk....THAT'S WHEN YA LOST!". LOL. Classic...damn I remember when I bought this single. I wanna go BACKKKK! When women's asses wasn't in every rap video. When rappers actually spit some real shit that I could relate to. Not the flashy shit I could never afford. Thank you for this.
This is Oh So Dope! Treal talk I've been wanting to see this vid for years. I kept remembering Crazy Leggs Breaking over that Break Beat! Stuck in my head the B.U.M. Ill Flows & Hardcore Mic Skillz. This is a Old New Fav.! This is Hip Hop not that stuff on Pop Radio! I had to say that! Peace & Blessings from Down South ADJNS/
Used to have this song on my i pod's top 25 most played. Teddy's "close the door" had a real smooth instrumental that could make any song that sampled it good.
@MIXEDMADNESS ... Yup man... Me too. Sophmore year... All sorts of ill shit to listen to. Spending the whole summer just chilling and bumping my walkman.
v For real. I'm 15 and I can't go an hour without listening to stuff like this. I wish I was born 30 years ago when all of this began and developed, not when it fades out. :(
@9thwonderisking you could've been boon 15 years ago and experienced it like I did. I was a teen during the golden ers. I got alot of new artist that u should check out. Underground. and check me out too. let me know if inerested.
@9thwonderisking....... Trust me it only fades out when the song ends ....& that's what repeat is for! This music is timeless & HipHop lives inside of all who have a true passion for the culture.
YOOOO! I remeber the B.U.M.s DayUm! I miss the 90's HiP-HoP! They keep the Knowledge on a cycle rotation an true.U had ya Hardcore hip-hop, had the conscious hip-hop, Party/chill hip-hop. the Emcee/lyircal hiphop. man we was on point back then.. the 90's where the genisis Of RAP.. Now I don't know Wat the fuck we got out here... but it ain't Hip-Hop
I got to see these cats perform live in L A in 95. Two dudes started fighting, I think it was Evol, jumped off the stage between them and kept rapping. Broke up a fight and embedded a memory in my mind forever.
Looks like their company gave them a nice budget for their 2 videos. Too bad it didn't sell. The 4 chicks in the video are the original Jazzyfatnastees. The big guy with the dreads looks familiar. Kinda looks like Craig G?
This is good MCing. Back in the days, MCs gave good hand gestures which helped illustrate the points they were making. I think that is something that has become lost over time in hip hop.
got the album...remember hearing this on the 10 o clock bomb...sway and shit b4 they left for l.a. cmc shit with chuy...lol...still slap this on my ipod homie...this shit still shits on these weak ass cats now...timeless shitttt
It's unbelievable the amount of cats that slept on these dudes...I copped their cassette back in '95, I remember I was on probation for weed possession when I copped it. In '03 got the CD. It's so fresh so original, bomb shit.
This is such a classic. I remember when I heard the first few seconds on Entourage I was like AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH OHHH SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Y'all should peep the whole album, it's incredible. One of my favorites of all-time, actually.
wow 1995 was a good year...this album was a sleepr. Some real skillful Cali cats. They even shouted out my college on one track "Tuskegee"!!! Let's bring it back
i remember the first time i heard this i was like, "Damn did AZ leave the Firm for the B.U.M.S"? The first verse sounded like him. Who was that D-Wyze or the other dude....forgot homeslices name.
yeoooooo! wow .. brought back memorys freshman in high skool... what i love about dis video is dat.. they put crazy legs from rock steady crew,, b-boyin to dat hard break beat for 25 sec.. dats real hip hop
Sic song and video. Reminds me of what hip hop use to be. Sad how talented cats like this come and go so quick. I'm pretty sure that was Xzibit in the video
On a mission from GOD" to make the conscience so itz live when Im rhyming......I take tracks of coal and then compress it to a diamond!!! CAN TOUCH THAT LINE RITE THERE!!
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!! this is the first time i heard this sample and its never been done so rite, all i need is a back woods and a five sack. peace to the real era.
dammb been lookin for this joint heard it on entourage this is a real hip hop joint love it has a jazzy tune one that makes u ride in ya car on a sunny day or just chill and relaxin thanks for this joint peace!!!
I had this on a single's tape back in the day. I have been looking for this track for a long time. Thanks to who put this on, somebody knows about classic shit
It's kinda sad but I remember buying the album on the strength of this one song, only to find the rest of the album as weak. There's this one song where the taller artist featured rhymes about a typical day in his life and it involved smoking so much weed tthat it wasn't even funny or entertaining. (Sorry, can't remember the song title).
So, with those west coast cameos (Ras Kass, Ahmad, Xzibit, etc.) did that make 'em west coast? Their style seemed more east coast.
Daaaamn.....I 4got all about this classic shit!!! Aww maaan this was my shit!!! This came out in my high skool yearz! I'm glad I got to experience shit like this! I feel fortunate!

seems to be def one of the more used samples out there
I read here audio two and even newtimers like 50 (never heard it though),
but I can add one more from the same release year as bums:
Keith Murray - Get Lifted (Erick Sermon Remix) (1995)
watch?v=1rwTLf444Z0
Green eyed bandit version may be a bit more repetitive,
but Keith def got his shine on.
