I first watched the Delicate sound of Thunder on VHS in the early 90's -This was my favourate track - Gilmour is the man - been trying to sing and play like him since!!
Damn it man..I keep coming back to watch this...Gets me every time...The lyrics and the beat and the backing vocals...The whole thing....What a band...
man his voice sounds great, it sounds like it hurts a little, it sounds like hes sacerficing a little bit of lifeforce to sing it that well. its quite unexpectedly diverisified.
Ihave the orriginal VHS of this concert. but this is much better qualitty than the VHS (and it is not a copy) where dit you get this video from????????
No offence to David Gilmour but Delicate Sound of Thunder showcases probably his worst vocals. Great show, still. And I love him, he's my idol :D. But compare him to what he sounds like on Pulse.
That incredible sax player is Scott Page. He also shows up back stage on disc 2 of Gilmour's Remember that Night West coast tour on video being filmed by Rick Wright. Dave and he are talking about his mulet hair cut.
Dick Parry was in semi-retirement from the music industry at the time this film was made and working as a farrier (he came out of retirement and back to playing sax in 1992 and rejoined Pink Floyd during Christmas 1993 after he sent David Gilmour a Xmas card and DG gave Dick his old job back and Dick played on "Wearing the Inside Out on The Division Bell and did the 1994 tour). The saxman here is Scott Page whom previously played with Supertramp on their final tour with Roger Hodgson in 1983.
Yes, that's Scott Page: "Dogs Of War" is his trademark tune. You'll hear him on the studio version from MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON, as well as this lovely DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER concert film, which includes him on "Us And Them" and "Money" (of course), as well. You can also see Scott on electric rhythm guitar on the "Learning To Fly" music video. He's an L.A. stalwart, played with Supertramp, TOTO, and tons of other bands. Google him and see~jk
@johnsonkatt Hey John! Thanks for a "now we know" on who is playing the tenor sax! Maybe Hall and Oats was another band where Scott played the mean sax. It was the cool hair style that reminded me of that. I saw Hall and Oats live inside Evansville, Indiana's Roberts Stadium. It is one spooky song with the rabid dogs of terror on the loose!

You can't stop what has begun
Signed, sealed, they deliver oblivion
We all have a dark side, to say the least
And dealing in death is the nature of the beast
One world, it's a battleground
One world, and we WILL smash it down!
