  • Du, da! Wer sind sie? Was machen sie hier?

    Kom hinter,los!

  • BEST MUSIC EVER!!!

  • Cette musique est captivante. John Williams est un génie pour les trames sonores!

This music is captivating. John Williams is a genuis for soundtrack!

    Bonjour de Montréal, Québec

  • @12333054

Yeah! That's why Star Wars is magic too!

  • @Zixp60

Thanks for you comment. Stars Wars is actually one of the great soundtracks of John Williams. But there are many others: Jurassic Park, Jaws, Schindler's list, Home alone, Superman, Poseidon adventure(1972) and many more.

  • 2:22-2:46 the best and scariest part!

  • Foolish mortals! You have looked into my eyes. Your path now leads to the Gates of Doom!

  • i p[lay thisw while searching for underground caves in mine craft

  • This song always gives me goosebumps, go Indie!

  • Damn, this theme give me chills

  • 2 people are working under Beloch.

  • 2 people should have been left in the vault.

  • This brings to mind everything mystical, eerie, dark, conspiratorial, ancient, cryptic and ethereal about the world -- Williams' music always extends far beyond what it is specifically written for.

  • This defines the word "epic".

  • *pschoooom*

    *Laser shoots from the staff*

  • Death has always surrounded it... it is not of this Earth..

  • Wait a minute... the staff measures 60 inches... and Indiana Jones is smaller ?

  • just an awesome, awesome piece of art from the genius John Williams....EPIC

  • Don´t mess with god. That´s the meaning of this theme.

  • 2:30 is incredible!

  • Pure Indy awesomeness.

  • I still get goosebumps, every single time I hear this -

just like I did in the theater when it was brand new!

  • John Williams is a music God !

  • This blew my mind.

  • 2:52 awesome

  • "Belloq: Jones, do you realize what the Ark is? It's a transmitter, it's a radio for speaking to God, and it's within my reach. Jones: You wanna to talk to God? Let's go see him together, I've got nothing better to do. "

  • Actually, when Marcus brings up "the Egyptian Pharaoh", who invaded Jerusalem and 'may' have stolen the Ark, he actually refers to Biblical history. 2 Kings makes it cleas that Shishak took ALL the gold of the temple...and the Ark was overlayed with gold.

Hence, the movie has Indy go to Tanis...the ancient capital city of Egypt.

Of course, it's possibe the Ark went missing beforehand.

  • this, for some reason, always makes me think of something you just dont want to fuck with. its powerfull stuff, AND ITS JUST MUSIC which makes it even better.

  • I can listen to this over, and over, without becoming disinterested in it. John Williams has accomplished much with the Raiders of the Lost Ark soundtrack, but this piece; the way it begins slowly, softly, and rises in tension and frightful speed is amazing.

  • Goosebumps everytime with this piece! Its my favorite orchestra work EVER. I remember hearing it when I was like 13 years old and being mermerized by it. this is the most dark and mysterious melody ever written to my knowledge.

  • Oh, They Sould Make a Longer and Louder Suite for Ark. Like.... 'Call of Crystal'.

Anyway, Ark Theme and Desert Fight is My Fav Tracks in Raiders. I Love This Movie, and All of Indiana Jones Movies were Parts of My Childhood. Ah, Good Memories..

  • Just listening to this music brings to mind being in a deep, dark tomb somewhere in the ruins of an ancient civilization, with danger all around you...

  • Awesome theme.

  • The irony is that the Israelites tried exactly the same thing that the Germans were planning to do in the movie in 1 Samuel 4. Just having the Ark didn't make one invincible as the Lord caused them to lose the battle and the Ark went into the possession of the Philistines for several months.

  • It makes for a good story. One wonders if the ark is still under the Temple Mount and if so, if Arafat's clumsy excavations wrecked it. Or if it is hidden elsewhere or if it was destroyed in the fire in 70 A.D. Since the Ark no longer had value or power other than historic after 32 A.D., it's not actually necessary for the Ark of the Tribulation Period to be the real thing, although it's quite possible that it is rediscovered.

  • @Nabukuduriuzhur Most Ark scholars believe that it's in a church in Ethiopia. Of course the church won't allow anyone inside.

  • @Nabukuduriuzhur If the is real and is what it is said to be, it's hard to imagine it being easily destroyed.

  • The moral of the story:don't mess with God

  • @mustangjoeuniondale1

    I agree XD

  • @mustangjoeuniondale1 more like: Items of god must never be use by man. Cause their power is far too mighty for us mortals.

  • @EJAXK13 No, the moral is : John Williams is God.

  • i want to say that iy didnt take place in the 50s it was 1930s before nazis were are (usa) enemy

  • @dalanebigsexy 1932 I believe

  • Holy ish, this is scary as hell.

  • I had the pleasure of seeing this on the big screen back when I was twelve, the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis TN played it on a friday night. It was so exciting and this scene always gives me goosebumps!

  • morning light shines through the little opening and directly through the precious gem. The medalion is at the right spot and now is exactly the perfect time. Slowly the light inclines. It creeps along the streets and buildings of the miniature city as it starts to condense to a precise ray. Like a laser beam it shows the place, where the saught-after arc is burried and the whole room is filled with light now. Indies eyes shining THIS IS IT....

Best scene and best music in this film

  • @hemmojito I could've sworn that was pulled from the script. Excellent writing.

  • Well thank you! =)

First time I watched that movie I was twelve or so and that scene just fascinated me so much.

  • @hemmojito Just goes to show how accurate Spielberg's retrospective assessment of the film was: that they captured lightning in a bottle.

  • Yes, NeroBlack2200, and it takes talent and a lot of work to catch lightning in a bottle, the guy is amazing. Spielberg has made some cult stuff. I liked "the colour purple" So many scenes that seem - I don't know - alive, you know what I mean....

  • Love this tune!

  • Williams at his best!!!!!!

  • Umm why does it say a trihead war productions when triheadwar didnt make this soundtracks correct me if im wrong

  • this is kinda like for creepy things you dont know!!!

like loch ness and bigfoot pictures

    but more for area 51

  • and i think they should have played it when we actually see the ark instead of this way where it plays when they enter the warehouse. btw was it AREA 51 they original placed the ark - i'm having a thougt that 51 stand for the year the facility was built or has it been there before the 30's. does someone know ?

  • doesn't it stand for Hanger51, just the number of the hanger it was all stored. I actually could be completely wrong.

  • i actually don't know - i only think of it because i have made my own 1cd edition of the Raiders Score (i manage to squese all cd tracks on 1 cd including the 8+ minute desert chase onto it so i'm thinking about changing some of the titles like "the warehouse" to "area 51" or something in that style but Raiders happened in 1936 and therefor if area 51 did not exist there it would be a goof - so i'm wondering

  • actually forget my last comment, i was thinking of 'hanger18' in area 51

  • The number 51 has no signifigance whatsoever to a year or anything. When the government was sectioning off land for atomic testing in the early 40s, that just happened to be section numbered 51. The base(which the governement took years to confirm its existance) was built shortly after WWII.

  • so that means that the Ark is stored in a warehouse until it was removed to new facilities at Area 51. :) - so i should just call the track "the warehouse" like it was titled on the DCC release

  • it doesnt stand for 51 years, but i dont know....

but it was build in like 1920s-1930s

  • i never said it standed for 51 - i said that it might be standing for the year it was bulid in as i could not find any information about it being used in the 40's. Read the text probberly

  • Thank U, For the Votes and Views People, More track will be coming soon

  • *drools over sheet music* I love the art in John williams work... Such a very clever man.

  • Honestly, the Ark of the Covenant was one of the best MacGuffins in cinematic history, and this music is perfect for it. It manages to perfectly convey the feeling of mystery, horror, and the sheer wrath of god of the Ark.

  • This song reminds me of sunburnt Nazi in Afrika.

  • This came out the year that I was born.

  • CRYSTAL SKULL! CRYSTAL SKULL! Suffer!

  • soup

  • i dont know if i was hearing things or not,but this music is also in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

  • Comment removed

  • It's in Last Crusade as well. Whenever someone mentions the Ark in these movies, they always play a snippet of this tune. Which I think is great because my words can't do this piece justice, or the movies.

  • we do not mention the crystal skull, it does not exist

  • Crystal skull is not that bad - only problem is - Indy belongs in the 30's - not the 50's

  • @Marcatolegato i agree, but it was kinda nice to see Indy do something a little diffrent this time around in Crystal Skull.

  • Yeah, but then Harrison Ford wouldn't have been cast as Indy, and they needed to make the timeline age-appropriate for him, so they had to make the movie to take place in the 50's. Plus, they wanted to keep the "cinema equivalent" alive (Saturday matinee serial theme the first three movies, and B sci-fi theme in Indy 4)

  • @RavensScrewSteelers The movie took place in 1932. The newest movie is in the 50s because it is 20 years later

  • @mikenike90 I thought it was 1936? I mean, that's what I remember seeing when he was in South America in the beginning, I could be wrong though, may as well check it out.

  • @mikenike90

    no:

    Indy 1 Raiders 1936

    Temple 1935

    Crusade 1938

    Skull 1957

Indy 5 (don't know yet, wait it'll be relased next year)

  • @mikenike90 actually this took place in 1936

  • Same composer - John Williams - he can use the same themes. ;)

  • You also here this snippet of the theme in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade when Indy sees a carving on the wall of the ark. Elsa: What's this one? Indiana: The Ark of the Covenant. Elsa: Are you sure? Indiana: Pretty sure.

  • If this four minute piece doesn't convince the world that John Williams is one of the best movie soundtrack conductors in the world (or ever), then there is no justice. Hyperbole? Yes...but, damn, this piece is epic.

  • not convinced. what's justice?

  • Agreed! I got to see this in the theater in 1981. I was 12 years old, the best time in a kids life to see it. Well, also Star Wars in 1977!

  • Even as a 7 year old I remember getting goose bumps as I watched and listened when this scene came out in the theater. Both the film and Williams' score is simply timeless.

  • Absolutely Amazing.

  • This piece is so beautiful, and the map room scene is chilling.

  • Comment removed

  • You know the Skull theme is the ark theme backwards?

  • Interesting. I heard the Lau Che theme was just a retrograde inversion of "Can You Read My Mind," but score analysis hasn't checked out.

  • Ah yes, the Ark theme! Masterfully crafted and developed in this four minute sequence. No one plays with parallel minor triads like Williams. This cue is indeed my secret favorite of his. While I'll always claim "Adventures on Earth" in public, inside I'll be humming those gorgeously haunting chords over and over.

  • Interesting that Hitler, of all people, was interested in finding relics like that. One wonders why? The demon in him that controlled him since his 30s would surely have known what would happen when he tried to use powerless items like the "spear of destiny" or the ark.

  • @Nabukuduriuzhur he wasn't possessed. He was just evil.

  • and insane.

  • This is the best track ever!!

  • I love the way half of the film is situated just around the tanis dig. It makes the chase for the ark so much more interesting and intense.

  • I agree. That map room scene blew me away as a kid. I never thought a film would transport me out of the cinema like Star Wars did way back in '77, but I was wrong. Thanks for posting it.

  • Simply great!

  • I love this piece. I can't get enough of it. We hear a brief snippet in the newest film, but I was dearly hoping they would bring back the Ark of the Covenant again. No other Macguffin in cinematic history even comes close to the pure power of the Ark!

  • This is an amazing bit of music that stirs

and builds to a fine crescendo, in a pretty spooky scene. Really captures all that wrath of god stuff, but magical at the same time

  • @Morhek Williams also briefly quoted it in "Last Crusade"...a picture of it appears in the catacombs under the library in Venice...when he is questioned as to whether he's sure it's the Ark, he deadpans, "Pretty sure."

  • @ignoranceandwant And again in the newer movie. Its revealed in the storage room during a crash.

  • My most favourite part and music track for the whole film! Thanks for sharing!

  • No it isn't. That's Miracle of the Ark.
