  • I remember this. My family watched the credits suddenly roll early and Uncle exclaimed, "Well, something went wrong there! He was already out cold when he went out the window..." The country waited on tenterhooks to learn the extent of Charlie's injuries. [Personally, I never found Charlie Drake, Mr Pastry, Brian Rix, Bonehead, or other early TV slapstickers actually made me chuckle - I was just too embarrassed for them!]

  • Best thing that ever happened to Charlie Drake

  • @26highstreet What a stupid comment.

  • Whirlygig, I want to congratulate you on preserving this for posterity. CD is the most underrated comedic genius of the last century, and so little still exists of his work. Thank you - this, amongst all of the rude, boring, mundane rubbish on u tube, is an example of why it should exist.

    so little choices back then

  • Hello my darlings....

  • I remember watching the "accident episode" when it was broadcast. The dangers of doing slapstick comedy.

  • A real Pro`

    What a Man !

    Gawn. But not foregotten !

  • I watched all Charlies shows, up to 1977. Then I came to Canada. Very. Very funny guy.

  • I remember the incident like it was yesterday

  • I remember watching this as it happened. We were all a bit shocked and wondered if he would be back the next week.

  • charlie was a comic genius...

  • It was said he was hated so much by the back stage crew that it was done on purpose.

  • I saw a documentary about him a few years ago - he seemed to be a man singularly devoid of humour, he remained stoney-faced throughout it, but he was a comic genius! Comedy is a serious business after all...
