It was put into place after FDR died while serving his 4th term of office as President (1932-1945). The most significant cause of the 90's boom was the "peace dividend" at the end of the Cold War. At the end of the 90's, the dotcom boom helped too, I agree. But so did other things, like overall prodcutivity gains from PCs and the internet, and all those former defense resources and capital pouring into the private sector.

@ropeman1968 I put "smarter" in quotes because politicians aren't really smarter than us at all, in fact they're useless. They simply fool you into supporting things that you know are wrong, like war for example. The people that move the world and make effective changes are those that produce and contribute. Researchers, inventors, artists, doctors, etc. Politicians simply allocate those "resources" if you will, to further their agendas, along with their constituents' (the rich).

@Incizor1 The law states a person can only be elected for 2 terms (whether consecutive or not)(also, if serving at least 2 years of an inherited term this counts toward the 2 term limit). It was put into place after FDR died while serving his 4th term of office as President (1932-1945). Before that it was just tradition following the precedent of Washington who stepped down after 2 terms and refused a third.

The most significant cause of the 90's boom was the "peace dividend" at the end of the Cold War. At the end of the 90's, the dotcom boom helped too, I agree. But so did other things, like overall prodcutivity gains from PCs and the internet, and all those former defense resources and capital pouring into the private sector.

All presidents can hurt an economy, or aid it moderately, but their fiscal policies aren't the direct "cause" of a good economy. They get too much credit and blame for "thier" economy. Clinton faced conflicting pulls from the dems about how to use the peace dividend. He chose fiscal responsiblity over restoring the social spending cuts. That decision played a major role in allowing the economy to flourish. Give him his due.

Gary Johnson is the best presidential candidate for the american people. He has the most logical and ethical economic solutions for this nation as a whole. I ask that you at least research him, and if you do not, if I did know you, I'd have to ask, why are you voting when you do not have all the facts? Why vote only for your own sake instead of for the sake of our nation . Take some time and read, and see what else is out there? besides what the media tells you
