  • This piece is nothing short of the very essence of choral music power.

  • The performance of this song was absolutely stunning. Well done.

  • 3:46-3:54 is like a musical hug. <3

  • that alto part at the beginning is my FAV!!!

  • I sang this song for our chorus competition. I don't like how they are all swaying though.

  • i need to learn this to get into Madrigals...hoping i get in!

  • I remember singing this.. ahhh...

  • my school is singing this for our coral festival tommorroow

  • 1:23

most beautiful arrangement of notes i think i have ever heard.

my choir is doing this song and i can only pray we even sound close to this...

  • my choir is singing this song but we just started and our boy section contains a biggg chunk of freshman and sophmores (very scared ones), And our choirs only 30 people big so it is difficult but we've come 4th in state competition before, So who knows what will happen this year

  • Oh ya, I remember that now. Glad Dickau arranged it~ so gorgeous!

  • we are learning this sonnggg

  • Just watched this video and the MLK one of the Lacrosse Central Robed Choir.....my high school choir performed both songs, and I must say, this choir did an excellent job! It sounded almost exactly the way we performed it. It's nice to find top quality high school choirs on youtube.

  • Composed by Purcell

  • @Leighsutherlin Actually this arrangement is by David Dickau

  • Good, but the tenors need work on blending their vowels.

  • Which competition is this in Davenport, Iowa?

  • We sung this Last Night ! <3 i love this songgg

  • thunbs up if you absolutely LOVE THIS SONG

  • we're doing this in my school and the tenors always have a hard time getting up to the g flat during "for my listening soul you move" (thumbs uo if you agree) but i love this song it's avery mature piece and semi-challenging but i love it so much. okay enough of my rant lol

  • this song is hard to do if you dont blend and have stong tenor and saprano alots and bases really for just overall strong well rounded choirs to do it well

  • I love this song. my choir is singing this and its just breathtaking!

  • In Ohio, at competition, nobody but the judges are allowed to have any type of recording device. If caught with one, the choir is disqualified.

  • who composed this?!?!

  • *Yawn*

  • Where can i get the sheet music for this version? I've searched everywhere but can only get a shorter version. :(

  • Where can i get the sheet music for this version? I've searched everywhere but can only get a shorter version. :(

  • woah, that was so cool! I heard overtones at the end! That is, unless you had some sopranos that added the third above the Eb. But I distinctly heard it, so I think you got some nice overtones. :) Great job on the piece!

  • i really love this song and this choir sang it BEAUTIVELY!!!!!! WOW!!!! this really espresses my love and passion 4 music!!! i can't w8 to become a conductor and teach this song!!!! :D very nice job!!!

  • No black people must be the beverly hills

  • @lewiscameron74 nope, only Iowa

  • Mr. Esser always did like his songs rampant with suspension and neighboring tones...lol just learned what that was in my college theory class. It was awesome being in his choir, he's a hilarious, passionate human being, and he believes in high schoolers making beautiful music so much, that even though he's more than qualified to teach at a University level, he's sticking with high school. he's awesome :)

  • i almost cried at "pleasures invade both eye and ear"...

our choir is doing this, i could only wish it sounds close to as good as this..

  • my school kennard dale is singing that this is a really pretty but its hard

  • My university's choir is doing this song. i absolutely love it. having a hard time hearing a certain part of it though, so i'm going to be listening to this video quite a bit ;)

  • So, I got the opportunity to see the Robed Choir live, and they are really amazing. Just saying. :)

  • We're actually singing this for my highschool Chorale, and we just started practicing today :)

  • it was very good, one of the only thing that i can say is it was just notes on the page, i really didn't get the message you were trying to send, but it was very good :)

  • Great sound! Careful about rushing at some points but amazing!

  • Our choir is singing this, we have 8 basses, 6 tenors, 4 sopranos, and 3 altos. And we are soooooo gooooood lol. the guys actually over power us sometimes!! lol

  • Ain't that a doozy...

  • we sang this for honor choir! great song!

  • Can I say, this is the tempo I wanted to hear?! I've searched for the right tempo and I landed on this. Although there were some balance issues in some parts, the OVERALL sound was absolutely beautiful. Thank you for posting.

  • Great performance of a great song. Bravo!

  • lol . Diction.very well!

  • terrible vowel shape

  • i love their vowel shape actually....wat was bad about it?

  • See they actually have enough tenors and bases for this song. I AM SO JEALOUS! T.T

  • agreed, singing this in choir and bases and tenors need to be loud and sopranos and altos gotta quiet down

  • haha, in my choir we have 3 tenors, 4 bases, 6 tenors and 6 altos, so it's a small, but incredibly balanced choir. If only our bases could learn to not sing out of their nose....

  • wow. they are absolutely amazing. the beginning, to me, is so powerful.

  • I love this song! My choir is doing it for our spring show!

  • I like it! My choir is singing this song! and i love it!

  • I heard "chew"'s. XD I still love this song. We're doing it now for a festival next week. =D

  • this is absolututely beautiful....the dynamics are so strong and powerful. the vowels are awe inspiring and the choir seems in perfect union with every note......amazing

  • Our choir sang this song for a regional competition and we got the highest rating...this is one of my favorite choral pieces.

  • Beautiful. Just watch the vowels at some points.

And tenors watch out for the "er" sounds.

    Hehehe.

  • I agree. I must admit I'm usually umimpressed by the vowels of most midwestern choirs. This group is an exception. Very nice tall, round vowels, Bravo!

  • A... friggin'... MAZING...

I can only rate up to 5 stars... I want to give like... 8... xD

Very nice, the interpretation was fantastic, and the dynamics are BEAUTIFUL! The emotion was VERY full and rich... a mature, dark sound... You guys pwned. Epically.

  • Shhh Kris!! It's a secret!

  • hey like mrs. morrison is going to stumble upon this jerkface

  • so good. i'm singing this with chambers as a gift to our director.

  • Absolutely brilliant! My choir is singing this on Sunday March 1st in Chicago - and I hope we sound half as good as you guys do! Bravo on a job well done! :)

  • we had my men's choir sing this song. we got superior!

  • Wow... we r practicing this in our university's choral and we r gonna perform this in May 12th

I hope we sound as good

  • that was an amazing performance. I remember singing this piece back in 2000. thank you for posting this video.

  • this is one of the best songs ive ever heard, great job!

  • W3 SUNG THiS SONG FOR HONOR CHORUS...i LOV3 iT...THiS SONG iS SOOO B3AUTiFUL...TH3Y DiD a GR3aT JOB!!!

  • very nice. such a musical and moving interpretation

  • REALLY good, my chorus sang this for NYSSMA last year and got bronze i think. it was my favorite chorus song ever :)

  • This choir is VERY balanced. Usually there is too much soprano, but I love how the alto's are really heard constantly through the video.

  • ya totally agree....i was able to follow the altos all the way through and they were amazing.....naturally im a little balanced

  • i meant *biased not balanced LOL

  • damn.... they are so good... i love it... my choir is singing this and i wish we could sound like tht

  • the only thing I would point out the prounciation of "pleasures". I heard it pronounced "plez-yoors". Other than that, absolutely phenominaly! the tempo is perfect!

  • I love the tempo actually it makes it so enjoyable

  • this song is awesome.

my choir is singing this song now, and it is very fun and beautiful...

  • it's pretty cool how they mix up where the voice parts stand. it gives it a uniform effect, like unity, one voice.

  • Too slow on the so fearce the part

  • this song is great. Wisconsin State Honors Choir 08 is gonna rock this song

  • this song is beast

  • The long pauses were a bit annoying, but other than that, I loved it :-)

  • wonderful!

  • i love this song

  • We Had To Sing This Sing For P.C.C. YaY!! LoL

  • great great great song

but one bad thing too slow of a tempo

i know this song suppose to be slow but not that slow

    but anyway great great performance

  • Last year in Fairfax my choir took first place with a rating of 99 superior, and this was part of our repetior... i love this song... but to perform it to the level it was written it takes emotion and deep passion... im not sure if this choir has got that flowing through every measure... they sing it well... just maybe not with the heart so much as the mouth... if you catch where im coming from... nice job

  • this is such a great song... amazing vocals but i dont think half of their hearts are in the music at all...

  • this is my most favorite arrangement...i fell in love with it the first time i heard this piece.

  • This arrangement is composed by D Dickau, published by Colla Voce.

  • That kind of comment is arrogance... this is a wonderful performance. Leave it at that. Let's not be childish.

  • dont get me wrong they sounded great compared to some ive heard but i cant see them actually believing wat they are saying.

  • OMG!!! Can you say robots...

there is absolutly no expression here

  • Wow, you obviously aren't watching the same video I am...I see movement, and freedom in the bodies....

  • half of them... not even

  • i see a typical choir concert.

  • i see a typical concert choir too. the vocal ensemble in the middle school by me is better than them.

  • I love this!

My chorus just performed it last week.

Great job guys! It makes me want to cry...

  • Great job. My choir is performing this for the first time tonight. I think we can do just as well.

  • do you have the arange, or please me tell me the author...

  • If Music Be The Ffood Of Love text by Henry Heveningham, music by David C. Dickau

  • You guys make this song worthwhile to listen to.

  • Beautiful!! One of the best performances I've heard of this song!!

  • We my 11th grade year in high school, and I must say you guys sound just as good as we did.....and we were GOOD. Great job you guys!!!!!!!!!
