my choir is singing this song but we just started and our boy section contains a biggg chunk of freshman and sophmores (very scared ones), And our choirs only 30 people big so it is difficult but we've come 4th in state competition before, So who knows what will happen this year
Just watched this video and the MLK one of the Lacrosse Central Robed Choir.....my high school choir performed both songs, and I must say, this choir did an excellent job! It sounded almost exactly the way we performed it. It's nice to find top quality high school choirs on youtube.
we're doing this in my school and the tenors always have a hard time getting up to the g flat during "for my listening soul you move" (thumbs uo if you agree) but i love this song it's avery mature piece and semi-challenging but i love it so much. okay enough of my rant lol

this song is hard to do if you dont blend and have stong tenor and saprano alots and bases really for just overall strong well rounded choirs to do it well
woah, that was so cool! I heard overtones at the end! That is, unless you had some sopranos that added the third above the Eb. But I distinctly heard it, so I think you got some nice overtones. :) Great job on the piece!
i really love this song and this choir sang it BEAUTIVELY!!!!!! WOW!!!! this really espresses my love and passion 4 music!!! i can't w8 to become a conductor and teach this song!!!! :D very nice job!!!
Mr. Esser always did like his songs rampant with suspension and neighboring tones...lol just learned what that was in my college theory class. It was awesome being in his choir, he's a hilarious, passionate human being, and he believes in high schoolers making beautiful music so much, that even though he's more than qualified to teach at a University level, he's sticking with high school. he's awesome :)
My university's choir is doing this song. i absolutely love it. having a hard time hearing a certain part of it though, so i'm going to be listening to this video quite a bit ;)
it was very good, one of the only thing that i can say is it was just notes on the page, i really didn't get the message you were trying to send, but it was very good :)
They did a beautiful job. Does anyone know where I can get this song for my ipod without downloading or buying it...is it possible? I've been obsessed with this song lately.
Our choir is singing this, we have 8 basses, 6 tenors, 4 sopranos, and 3 altos. And we are soooooo gooooood lol. the guys actually over power us sometimes!! lol
Can I say, this is the tempo I wanted to hear?! I've searched for the right tempo and I landed on this. Although there were some balance issues in some parts, the OVERALL sound was absolutely beautiful. Thank you for posting.
haha, in my choir we have 3 tenors, 4 bases, 6 tenors and 6 altos, so it's a small, but incredibly balanced choir. If only our bases could learn to not sing out of their nose....
this is absolututely beautiful....the dynamics are so strong and powerful. the vowels are awe inspiring and the choir seems in perfect union with every note......amazing
I agree. I must admit I'm usually umimpressed by the vowels of most midwestern choirs. This group is an exception. Very nice tall, round vowels, Bravo!
I can only rate up to 5 stars... I want to give like... 8... xD
Very nice, the interpretation was fantastic, and the dynamics are BEAUTIFUL! The emotion was VERY full and rich... a mature, dark sound... You guys pwned. Epically.
Absolutely brilliant! My choir is singing this on Sunday March 1st in Chicago - and I hope we sound half as good as you guys do! Bravo on a job well done! :)
the only thing I would point out the prounciation of "pleasures". I heard it pronounced "plez-yoors". Other than that, absolutely phenominaly! the tempo is perfect!
Last year in Fairfax my choir took first place with a rating of 99 superior, and this was part of our repetior... i love this song... but to perform it to the level it was written it takes emotion and deep passion... im not sure if this choir has got that flowing through every measure... they sing it well... just maybe not with the heart so much as the mouth... if you catch where im coming from... nice job
This piece is nothing short of the very essence of choral music power.

In Ohio, at competition, nobody but the judges are allowed to have any type of recording device. If caught with one, the choir is disqualified.
