hey blanco - you may want to consider learning to spell proper Spanish if you are going to set yourself up as teacher - "EXHIBELA". And while you are at it, learning to dance not like a total white geek would be nice too. Sorry if I seem harsh, but this is me being as nice as I can.
do you have any video instruction of this basic step. I want to learn this miami cuban style. I normally dance the 123 567 but I'm interested in this variation, kinda hard seems to me. Thanks
We call it "basic step 1". It's simply stepping the regular step (123 567) on the spot. You also see here taps on the 4 and the 8, which might seem unfamiliar to you. We plan to have clips of the basic steps, including the different taps, at some stage, but we have some time till then. In the meanwhile feel free to ask us if you have further questions.
But generally speaking, there ARE eight bits there. Usually the 4 and the 8 are not pronounced since people are tought to stay idle on them. But some, like me, tap on them, which is legitimate, used in Cuba as a dancing aid and widely used used by Miami style dancers.
Actually, when dancing with "colombian taps" the 3,7 are used for tapping (assuming the 1 is the breaking step), and the 4, 8 are actual stepping, so the 123567 becomes inappropriate.
well, it might be, but in Salsa Casino (i think that exhibela is from salsa casino) you only use that tapping when youre going to change your direction abruptly or when u need impulse... Only was a note, you dance really nice sorry if i was a little rude in my past commentary
The tap you talk about is filmed here as "Tap de prima", which is used mostly in miami style, and not much on cuban style (both are Casino). The taps I talk about are the taps with the legs only, done constantly while dancing.
The fact is that 123,567 is a subset of 12345678. Just like the guapea taught by beginners is not the guapea we dance in the clips, and is a subset of the possible guapeas used in Casino.
The facts you present here are actually a subset of the total wide range of facts.

You should count only 1,2,3... 5,6,7...
Not 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ...
If youre giving private lessons u should be aware of that

The clip has no counting. It is music only...
