I remember this show like it was yesterday. Hard to believe that it's been 20 years and it's still as Epic as ever! Seeing this brings it back to my days in the drum line! Never forgotten!
Very clean and clever tenor feature around :35. I do love this show too. IMO it was musically the strongest in DCI that year. No one could match the power of this hornline. Just listen to the overtones in the last chord!
Drill wise they were clean when marching. Leaving the hornline to relax through the 2nd half of the drum solo couldn't have helped their level of complexity rating!
That aside, this was my favorite of 1992 and one of my all time favorites too!
Every time I see this my hair stands on end.... this is just Fing UNbelievable ......I saw this show live a few times and hands down one of the SCOUTS BEST........this is one of my top drum solos of all time and I've seen many Being a Drum Corps News photag. & a drummer with DCA's Erie Thunderbirds. Man O Man....Explorer Scouts The Inovatores of in your face DRUM CORPS......
I have this show on Cassette Tape. I still listen to it from time to time. I would LOVE to see the whole show. Please try to upload the whole show. Thanks!
I saw this performance live. It was at DCI finals in Madison and the crowd were absolutely primed. Madison was, by far, the loudest corps that night and had a rich, clear brass sound that brought chills left and right. The ending set, which I heard was called the "House of Pain" set, was so close the front stands and compact that it just blew the doors down in Camp Randall stadium that night! I can watch this and remember like it was yesterday. Thanks Johnkwesif!
In 2010, I PLAN on joining this amazing corps to make it better. I would be strictly honored to make a difference in a positive way to the perfection on the field. GO MADISON SCOUTS DRUMLINE
I marched in the Scouts battery '94-'96...Jeff wrote the quad break on Christmas eve in 1991, gave it to the line at the next rehersal, and said they nailed it from day one.
I am so glad I found this! I had this on VHS and played it until the tape broke! Then had the DVD, and someone sat on it! Gah! Man, this is one of my all time fave shows! I miss plate lines! Seems like no one does them anymore.
I love how this percussion showcase was written and how the tenor solo works into the melody and into the snare feature. Jeff did an awesome job writing this. This is one of the VERY FEW tenor solos that doesn't have any unwanted rimzzzzz !!!! Then the build up to the hornline makes the hair on the back of my neck stand. Still to this day, I couldn't believe how loud that hornline was behind us when they came in. Goosebumps!!!
If you were in that battery, congrats to you. It was no easy feat getting into that line in the 90's. That feature is still on of my top 2 favorites, conveniently 94 was #1 heh. I sure miss the Madison of old days. BUT at least some of us fans got to see the prime before it got "fuzzy".
From 92 thru 96 the requirements just to march in the scouts battery was ridiculously hard! I saw some of the music for auditions and I could barely play them. I miss the Scouts of old. Hopefully they make some noise in 09 and win some fans back.
@TheFarmboys If you want chills find Madison doin Malaguena I believe from 1988......This is how its done but nothing comes close 88 Madison Malaguena
My percussion director almost marched this show. He marched Star of Indian 1990 when he was seventeen and reconsidered DCI with the Scouts this year, but decided not to in the end. He knows these breaks though, still plays them fairly well.
I too have waited a long time to see this video, thank you for posting. This has arguably to best transition from drum feature to the hornline entrance....goosebumps every time.
sure would be be great if you'd upload the whole show in two parts, it'd make us DCI fans really happy this is only on field footage of 92scouts on the internet.
I marched 92Bluecoats and sat on the 45yd line a few rows up from the track, and to this day that show still gives me chills. I remember doing everything I could to get in the stadium just to hear that show one more time before getting ready for the last walk onto the field for scores re-cap. I'll never trade being a Bluecoat, but I enjoyed competing with Scouts during the summer. I knew Chris from the Guard. Please post the entire 92Scouts show if you can. Also if you have Bluecoats 92 Final.
I dont understand why no one will show full shows on here anymore, its disappointing
