Photons held together in great numbers? It sounds like you're trying to say that you're condensing light photons, and that is not possible. Even if you had a ball of "pure" light, you wouldn't be able to see it, because none of the light would be released, and so no light would reach your eyes.
But, a plasma, like lightning, can emit several different types of light, even including such energetic forms as gamma rays. You need a light source to have light, that's what I am saying.

If it was ball lightning, it would float in the air until it hit something to ground out to. The surrounding air has to be exceedingly dry,so it acts as an insulator to encapsule the high charge of ions.
I've done this with my capacitor bank for my coilgun. The stuff disappears after it hits the ground, at least in my lab. Molten metal would normally re-solidify and would thus be visible after it cools down.

Photons held together in great numbers? It sounds like you're trying to say that you're condensing light photons, and that is not possible. Even if you had a ball of "pure" light, you wouldn't be able to see it, because none of the light would be released, and so no light would reach your eyes.
