  • Better than The Last Airbender...

  • I dreamt with the whole story of this movie when I didn't even know this movie existed! Creepy...

  • This movie was the biggest let-down in the history of movies. After I rented this one, I decided to never trust Shyamalan ever again.

  • @BillG37 theres no stifling someones taste

  • This movie was the worst movie, ever!!!! Lame....

  • @elpedo69 we watched this in class 1 kid was drinking a juice and when the guy poped out he threw juice at the screen

  • The narrator in this such a dam liar lol.

  • it turns out the main character was a rubber duck!

obviously people are gonna talk shit about the ending...duhh

  • This film has a massive twist! and omg it's rated 12 !

  • @cloverandshen123 the movie is, like, being advertised as a horror film although it's not really much of a horror film.

  • @rkd02tg3tm3a2gry yeah i know, its sort of a thriller but the ending confused me so much. so shockeddd

  • i think that heath ledger would have been a good actor to play the main character.

  • how do you get the clips onto a youtube video?

  • Memento soundtrack scoring the village movie?lol

I believe the song is called "The Facts" for any die hard Memento fans.

  • This movie is really about how you perceive it, unlike many of the movies today. One could look at it one way and another person could see it differently. I wouldn't look at it as a scary movie though. Some parts scared the living daylight out of me, which i cannot spoil, but you have to watch this movie to understand the concept because you cannot put in words. I also think that if you are going to pick up this movie, read the giver, gathering blue and messenger. It really adds to the story.

  • I saw this movie about a year ago, and I still have nightmares, and im like mid-teens!

It is so freaking scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8O

  • @ogglebob1 And btw these monsters dont exist they're made up by the elders.

  • @rkd02tg3tm3a2gry dont give that away grasshole

  • They do not cum to our village (PERVERT????)

  • Adrian Brody went full retard in this one. Went home empty handed.

  • Im not to fond of him as a writer... I mean come on avatar the last air bender(which he wrote the script to was sooo bad I couldn't stand to watch it and i like the series but as a directer he is not too bad but he defiantly is not as good as James Cameron or Ridley Scott

  • Scary as.......... But I was not scared at the end when she climbed over the fence I was like WTF and it all made senesce

  • Comment removed

  • Omg i am actually terrified of this movie haha idek why!

  • I disagree with the naysayers. This movie haunted me for a long time after seeing it several years ago and I saw it again today. (I agree with Kkyyrruu.) If you do not know the suspenseful story there are excellent surprises ahead. It is also a beautiful love story and tremendously creative overall. We need more hope in our world today if only from an imaginary one. Kindness and community are explored, as well as a simple way of life. Bless all involved.

  • My 8th grade class watched that today

  • The thing about m night shamy is that he is an incredible director, he just gets handed shit screenplays and shit actors

  • i luv this movie its not even scary its just interesting

  • I can't believe this movie got so many bad reviews

It was a brilliant movie. I guess some peolpe are to thick and blind to see amazing work of art

It makes you wonder if there really are places like this out there. Could be possible

    M. Night will always be my idol

  • simmilar to gathering bluee

  • M. night is amazing man.. idc what nobody says

  • We had to watch this in our English class in junior year.

  • Good film

  • You'd think a plane would have flown by.

  • @LeviGerard

At the end the guy said "I had alot of trouble once (so and so) found out this place was made a no-fly zone."

So the forest and village was ordered to be a no fly zone, making sure nothing would happen.

  • @LeviGerard That actually was my first thought after the movie ended!- "What about planes?" Actually that was my thought throughout the whole movie-"What a shame, if only they could fly over the woods." Then ol' Ivy climbed the fence. lol

  • @crownedinbeauty The reason for that is that ivy's grandpa was soo damn rich he could pay the government to not have people fly over it and he did.

  • Yea I am he made better movies than this fucking Indian shit head at least, after the sixth sense and Unbreakable that was the end if his career

  • egh i think i watched this movie when i was younger, but i am not sure, is it the 1 movie in wich the retard is the monster?

  • Scary Movie 4 did a great spoof on this...

  • This reminds me of The Forest of Hands and Teeth. Great book....it looks so similar!

  • I liked the film, but it was not as good as I expected.

  • This one sucked, last airbender, and lady in the water were just terrible, oh yea!! And The Happening

  • This movie kinda sucked..... M. Night should go back to filming school, and don't ever compare this guy to Michael Bay!!!

  • @OfficerMickey1 Wait, WHAAAT!? Are you seriously defending Bay?

  • All the reviewers who gave this a bad rating should be ashamed of themselves. They allow Michael Bay to get away with murder in the film industry, they allow cheap and stupid rom coms to go unpunished, but when a movie comes out that actually makes you think a little, actually has something to say regarding human nature and population control, they throw that directer under the bus with their snide abuse. All they cared about was the ending, not what was important.

  • I really liked it, especially the relationship between Luscious and Ivy! Great music and acting, M Night doesn't disappoint :)

  • this movie was good. had a real nice twist

  • I thing the Village is one of Shyamalan's best. The atmosphere and the Cinematography are brilliant. Yes, I saw the twist coming a mile away, but in my opinion, this film is great.

  • I say this movie when I was 9 and it haunted me for a whole week. I still get the shivers when I think about it.

  • Uh this music sounds so familiar. It's definitely from Memento.

  • Like others have said this trailer gives you a false idea of what this movie's about. People went to the theatres expecting a hack & slash movie. Instead The Village is a psychological thriller. It shows fear as a tool to "protect" an isolated, perfect society. Village elders use this fear to control their own people. This echoes today's relationship between the government and its citizens. Not what I expected... This was much better and it blew me away.

  • @spacecowboy5000 You got it perfect except for the govt. part. It should be organized religion vs. the brainwashed followers.

  • @b0b95eg You're right. I'd been looking at conspiracy theory vids at the time and they "polluted" my opinion at the time. :D

  • youre a fucking idiot for saying "m night so its not THAT bad." have you seen his recent movies? theyre shit compared to this, and this movie is brilliant on many levels. it offers mystery, suspense, action and is thought provoking. most scary movies dont do that. its way above average

  • M. Night Shyamamalama-sama-kun directed this? Damn I really liked this movie <;/

  • Has anyone else caught Jesse Eisenberg as an extra @ 0:33

  • The most underrated film in history.

  • This trailer is stupid. Because of it, I hated this movie when I first watched it because I thought it'd be a horror film.

Happily, I came to my senses and saw this film for what it really, truly was, and fell in love with it... but if I ever encounter a person who's never seen this movie, wants to see it, and wants to watch the trailer first, I will wrestle that person to the ground before letting him/her see this trailer.

This doesn't do the movie ANY justice at ALL.

  • this movie is so scary!!!!!

yeah well o'm really afraid of horror movies so yeah...

  • I hate fights over YouTube...

  • "Some people - just a handful, mind you - give off the tiniest color. It's faint. Like a haze. It's the only thing I ever see in the darkness..."

  • I love this movie. It scared the crap outta me the first time but now I love it. Bad ending tho :/

  • This movie would have been PERFECT if it weren't for the stupid ending. Anyway, I went to go see it with my cousins when it was out in theaters and we were scared through most of it! We jumped in our seats so many times lol. But seriously, the ending... ??? :/

  • hey this is about to comeon tv, should i watch it? cos family guy is on too and i cant decide :P

  • Comment removed

  • I think the trailer for M Night Shyamalan’s The Village is one of the many reasons why the film was so violently hated. I mean, it’s bad but it’s no The Happening (one of the most delightfully bad movies of all time). The trailer for The Village promised a very, very different movie than what was delivered, and to be honest it promised a much better movie. People complain about trailers giving away too much, but sometimes they can give away too little as well.

  • 0:33 ZUCKERBURG!!!!

  • @googleboy314 yep that's Jesse

  • @RKODest1ny you're welcome! :)

  • @RKODest1ny well i can say fucking whatever i fucking want. its a fucking trailer. anyone who fucking wants to watch it can fucking put a comment on it, fucking fucking fuckitty fuck fuck!

  • @RKODest1ny really?! this movie came out like eight years ago....also, dont read comments on movies you havent seen maybe! so there!!!!

  • Amazing movie!

  • I LOVED this movie. i loved lucius and ivy's relationship. but one gaping plot hole....wut the hell happens to them once the elders die? i mean, does ivy go on pretending the creatures are real? does she tell lucius? do the rest of the villagers just kinda find out and eventually go out into the modern world? i'd like to see THAT movie...

  • I remember watching this moving in a cooking class in 8th grade about... 6 years ago?

  • I too love this movie. There is already to much blood and gore in the world, and this movie is not that. This movie is a test , a challenge, a mystery for all who live in the village. M. Night lost his touch I think after this and signs. I hope he comes back with another good one like this. Some people hated the ending, make it whatever you like. You must think of what will happen, that's the mystery. Loved it soooooo much!!

  • what does that mean "the truce is the ending"?

  • I absolutely LOVE this movie, and i always have. This is one movie i really wish they'd make a sequel of, Maybe Ivy, and Lucius running the village some time in the future and in this one maybe have the creatures be real and terrorizing the village? I just think it'd be neat to see it happen.

  • This movie Is scary, BUT FUCK NO!! SCARY MOVIE MADE A RIPOFF PARODY! THAT PIECE OF SHIT!! GET YOUR OWN IDEAS DICKWEEDS!!!

  • This movie reminded me of Gathering Blue, the sequel to The Giver. Great book.

  • @UncleFizzmo Agreed. Great book. when you read Gathering Blue the whole time i was like "how the fuck is this related to the giver?" then i read the messenger.

  • @UncleFizzmo makes me think he copied gathering blue

  • @UncleFizzmo i read that book and my teacher told me that when he saw this, he was sure that m. night shyaman read gathering blue, because gathering blue and this are extremely similar! and i havent even seen the movie, but i can tell by the trailer. I agree with you, but i didnt like gathering blue. i felt like it had no plot.

  • this movie disturbed my dad so much he didnt want to watch it a second time...M. Night depicts perfectly the background my dad came from...the way the leaders invented an enemy to control its people...for those of you who dont like it you dont get it i promise you

  • valt mee

  • the trailer sucks so wont watch this.. the happening is better imo

  • the only thing I didn't liek about this movie was how the ending kind of dropped off. you never saw if Lucien lived or not

  • @RukisxGoldxPants Obviously he lived. She has a big old smile on her face and she can tell if someone is dead. She can hear the breathing and all, *she can see the colors* that we do not.

  • I love M. Night's style...the violence and gore of horror movies today are really just disgusting, and not truly frightening as a good scary movie should be...to me, at least...M. Night is perfect with getting just the little subtle things to seem realistic and frightening

  • don't know what you're talking about, i think this movie is excellent, some of his best work. all the actors are brilliant, it's shot beautifully, the score is haunting, and there was a great twist at the end. what more do you want from a film? it was never meant to be a horror film. it is a thriller. let's treat it that way.

  • this seems like it would be good

  • can we include Justin Beiber in the list of those of which we do not speak of LOL

  • @DCRuben Naw. He needs to be speak of. People needs to know he sucks balls.

  • Absolutely loved this movie. It might be my favorite movie ever. Just the cinematography alone is gorgeous. The story is very profound and it goes much deeper than most even let their brains comprehend. It's a new kind of thriller and I don't think anyone was ready for it.

  • This is actually one of my all-time favorite movies.

I don't understand why so many people did not like it.

It is a brilliant movie. :-)

Thanks so much for posting this trailer. :-)

  • how could you not like this movie. it wasn't THAT scary. but it was well made. but when they said the elders were acting as the monster things, you just cant watch it the same.

  • Back in 2004, M. Night Shyamalan, released a movie that many thought was a misleading piece of junk. To this day, I think this is his best movie. Yes, if you went by the trailers, you were expecting something else than what was presented, but if you got over the fact that is how movie marketing works, you would find an amazing film about humans. A film that shows no matter how perfect a society and how much you try to scare people, evil and rebellion will slip through.

  • I love this movie also. I think the plot twist is brilliant, its kinda M. Nights way of doing things...his style and there is nothing wrong with that. The cast is grade A and the acting was flawless, the plot kept you wondering and those creatures still give me the creeps even though they were fake lol

  • one of my favorite movies!

  • I loved the movie!

  • This movie was such a let down, i was expecting something much more and i was expecting this creature that was keeping these people locked in to be quite terrifying. But it turns it it was just the village idiot and the people keeping them under control, and im kind of insulted when people were saying you didn't like cause it wasn't gory, violent, shocking. Uh no i didnt like it cause it didnt keep my interest and most movies that are shocking ect do better then this piece "art".

  • @hapibth0pel3ss you have ADHD

  • @deepblack123 Okay i do you know i have adhd or not? Your assuming i do but you dont really know...so you saying i have adhd makes no sense.

  • @hapibth0pel3ss whatever you have, learning basic semantics and grammar would be to your advantage. you make no sense otherwise.

  • @TheHumansight Okay i said i didn't like the movie and you come at me about my grammar? How does that make sense? And you know I would care that is if you were my English teacher but your not. Also why is that when people can't come up with a better comeback they talk about someone else's grammar? Who gives a crap this is YouTube i'm not writing a freaking English paper, now are we going to talk about the movie or you just going to bitch at me about my spelling cause i dont have time.

  • @TheHumansight And despite my grammar you still didn't understand what i was talking about?...wow.

  • @hapibth0pel3ss haha.. i was just making an observation and jerking your chain. this is youtube; to each other, we are all merely letters on a screen.

  • @TheHumansight ps. i wasnt talking about the movie, i was just talking about some random persons (you) use of language. to me, this is all you are: letters on a screen; ergo, whether your intelligible or not matters. with all our technological advances i'd think kids at least learn how to write. it's not that hard. in fact, it's an essential part of day to day life. ps. i realize this is what the net community calls the grammar Nazi meme, but whatever. bad grammar is just as annoying.

  • @TheHumansight Good grammAR, bad grammER. Doesn't make a person any smarter or dumber then they already are.

  • @hapibth0pel3ss than* LOL.

i really should stop kicking a dead horse, but this entertains me while i'm sitting at home with the flu. so, anyway; actually, it does. if you can't do something as trivial as compose a paragraph, you obviously have something wrong with the broca's area of your brain. that, or you can't be much older than ten years of age. in fact, i sincerely hope that english is not your native tongue and you are under eighteen; otherwise, it would just be depressing.

  • @TheHumansight actually their is something wrong with my brain, I have Tics. Now how does that make you feel ass? Have fun drowning in your flu and may God bless you. Oh and this is what you do for entertainment? You need to get out more.

  • @hapibth0pel3ss i get out plenty. that's not the point, though; right now i merely exist as a semi-anonymous message on your monitor. in a nutshell, all i was implying is that maybe you should read a book once in a while. anonymity aside, for a person who goes out & gets drunk & parties as much as me it's almost ironic as to how repulsed i get by much of my generations cognitive condition. although it seems like its a direct "attack" on you, its directed at the gestalt of who you represent.

  • @TheHumansight I love to read actually unlike a lot of teenagers. I read all kinds of books if they get my interest, I've even read Twilight and half of my peers think its to much to read when its not. As long as you understand what i'm saying to you does it really matter how i right it? When i was in school i put a lot of effort into my work and made sure it was correct.

  • @hapibth0pel3ss On behalf of "a lot of teenagers." We like to read. And we also read enough to know that Twilight isn't exactly impressive when your trying to convince us you are very literate.

  • @SasquatchMCR I thinking reading any book means your literate. What the plop of a book is or who the author is make someone not literate? If so then your a very ignorate person to believe in that, you dont have to read those book with the big complex words to make you feel smart. Cause just because someone does or doesnt read those type of books doesnt make anyone's I.Q. any lower or higher. And for the record I do like to read educational stuff with the big complex words.

  • @SasquatchMCR I meant to say think, not thinking. I type to fast plus its this damn new laptop, not use to flat keys.

  • @hapibth0pel3ss I don't give a damn about complex words. Any good writer knows if you stuff a book with them it is extremely irritating. I just mean the quality of books! Twilight is a fun read, but isn't very well written and also completely unoriginal. I found it funny that you used this book to prove your point.

  • @SasquatchMCR How is it unoriginal? If its unoriginal then all fiction stories are unoriginal. Is it unoriginal because she decided to use her own ideas and twists instead sticking to the same old boring traditions that most vampire stories are like? Can't go out into the sun, garlic and crosses hurt vampires, same old BS, at least she threw in something different into her work. I think her writing was fair, there are far worse out there like Marked by P.C cast. Now that book was terrible.

  • @TheHumansight whoops i used their and instead of there..go ahead make a comment about it i know you will. Should i capitalize my i's as well? No i think that will bug the crap out of you more so im just going to keep doing it. OR SHOULD I SPELL WITH ALL CAPITALIZED LETTERS? DOES THAT BOTHER YOU EVEN MORE NOW? HUH? HUH? you know what maybe i just comment you in text form maybe that will really bother the sh!t out of you sense your so perfect at grammER. whoops there i go again.

  • this is the most boring movie i've ever seen. some creatures are living in some forest and attack sometimes and then some girl goes through the forest to get some medications or something and comes back... and that's basically everything that happens. booooooriiiiiiiiiing

  • @LunaLoona20 you're blonde inside

  • @deepblack123 hahahahaha her spirit is bleach.

  • where are those radishes and turnips everyone's been talking about?

  • I just watched this movie for the first time, and I LOVED it!

  • We are watching this movie in my Acc.English class...creepy stuff lol

  • what creatures...?

  • im gettn ready to watch it as i type this

  • What a bloody good film, one of M. Night Shyamalan's very best. Adrien Brody is macniffecent in it. What a brilliant twist at the end, I don't know why a lot of people are saying it's crap, I think it's scary, thrilling and very well made!

  • not a good movie

  • I luv this movie, and bryce is so beautiful I luv her too, I'm only gonna see the new twiligth movie, because of her.

  • I love this movie and think it is one of Night's best. But wouldn't the villagers have questioned where the creatures in the woods got their red capes? EBAY???

  • This movie cannot be what you expect because the trailer is not giving away any clues. After seeing the trailer you still have no idea what is the movie about. My favorite movie!

  • @2:14 RU N

  • Definitely a great movie M. Knight is definitely my favorite writer/directors. It's good to see that there are other people out there who agree. Its funny because I dont really remember the trailers and it is weird to see how it was advertised, unfortunately directors dont get a say in how its advertised its all done to draw crowds and sell tickets which isn't necessarily a bad thing I suppose, but holding true to the movie is important too.

  • i liked the movie alot, just wish more people did.

    M. Knight said he made it as a romance. but didnt advertise it as one, he instead advertised it as a horror/thriller, so the demographic that saw it was completely different.

the again, i dont know if how the trailer is made is completely in his hands, or the studios.

  • psychologic-horror T_T

  • awesome movie

  • Loved this trailer! I like the movie, but I admit it wasn't what I was expecting.

  • I agree. The trailer doesn't do the movie justice. It makes it seem like really gory and stuff. but who needs gory when you got edge-of-your-seat-killer-jumpy stuff, eh??? :D

    OKAYYYY trailer... i suppose...

  • right, for all you poeple who have to watch films like cabin fever and the hills have eyes and stuff, that crap is written by teenagers and the plot is as stupid as "Poeple get killed, blood sex, bad acting and lots of scary pointless parts"

these types of films make u think, there scary in there own way, it doesnt have to be all screaming and killing, this is a fantastic film and if you dont understand it, start think what the hell is the point of making films that have no point? :-p

  • @Domk931 lol, I would hardly call this scary. Go watch an Enigmatv documentary. Those are scary, lmao, anyway I kinda did think a little bit after I watched this movie such as where planes are non existent in that area? Or is that Jeff Bridges? No. Is that Michael Cera? No, again. That's the dad from the movie Black Irish! Yes...TELL HIM WHAT HE WINS BOB!!!! A NEWWWWWW CCCAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR

  • This movie wasn't as good as horror but brilliant as real thriller. Unique story line, great acting.

This movie is great. The atmosphere is great, the cast is fantastic, and what I mostly love about it, it's clever. It's logical. And whatever you say about it, it's CONSISTENT. Compared to the other Hollywood crap we are getting served lately, this is a VERY good movie.

Joaquin Phoenix, Sigourney Weaver, Adrien Brody, William Hurt and Brendan Gleeson were brilliant

  • I definatly agree, the movie was wonderful... the trailers didn't really do much for the movie. They give the wrong impression.

If you look around on YouTube, you can find the horror trailers for Home Alone... seeing that you'd think the movie was a horror movie.

Trailers can do a lot, these didn't do the movie justice.

  • @jasonsgroovemachine I agree.. the only reason I was disappointed when I went to see this movie, is because I was planning to go see a scary movie, because of the impression the trailers gave me. After watching it a couple more times after, I started actually liking the movie

  • @jasonsgroovemachine ah good! i just bought it, didnt watch it yet, and now i saw this.. And i didnt like the trailer.. hope the movie is nicer, im going to watch it right now:)

  • @jasonsgroovemachine Seriously... a good example of that is the trailer for You Me and Dupree, where they make Matt Dillon the 3rd wheel & Owen Wilson the husband; very believable. And emwall315 is dead on about the movie, I thought it was amazing, especially because of the non-gory part...

In my opinion it was very well put together... the cinematography was very good, and the music was incredible... plus joaquin phoenix's lines on the porch scene were simply heart-breaking

  • Loved this movie. Those that didn't like it were just disappointed that it wasn't gory and violent and horror-filled. It is more of a study of human behavior in society.

  • @emwall315 AMEN to that!

  • well i liked it....

  • great trailer!
