  • what is photocell?

  • keep practicing! :) nice idea!

  • Great project and enjoyed the presentation.

I guess I should build the Model 2732 version of this !

  • I wanna replace the photocell with a pot what value should i take?

  • @pietzeekoe 5K - 10K should work

  • Completely useless and utterly wonderful! Great job! Love it!

  • Excellent job!!

  • be careful with the cat near the soldering iron!!

  • @brandon14872 lol, he knows it's hot. :)

  • ive made a few "theremin" circuits with 555's and this is by far the coolest . i had a similar idea but using a lamp on a goose neck . your tube idea trumps that nonsense in a heartbeat . i had fun building this and i have been playing it a lot too . its great for karoakieing Adrian Belew guitar solo's .

  • Nice idea for the slider! Add a second slider and you'll have a Theremin :-)

  • Hope you got permission from the Star Trek people.

  • @thunderhammer

Yep! Spock and Kirk were both here yesterday at he DinoFab Lab getting their Tri-Corders recalibrated and I asked... "Say guys, can I use the theme song in my video" Spock answered... "Since it is in the public domain your question is most illogical". So yeah... it's all good!

  • Sweet! I gotta build myself one of these.

  • awesome, are the marks on the sliding LED holder for musical notes?

  • @Rasec77

Yes they are... approximately anyway. The tone can wander a bit due to variables like battery voltage, resistance at the on switch, ambient light etc.

  • I love the idea, but if i wanted to add a volume control, where would i add the potentiometer ?

  • @Timfc1

You would connect it to the positive output between the 100mF cap and the speaker with the wiper going to ground. It acts as a voltage divider. Do a Google image search for "volume control schematic" and you'll find examples.

  • @dinomaui Thanks, I was wondering if it would mess with the 555, but i remembered it was an output, thanks all the same.

  • ...a simple but fun project, nicely done and brilliantly presented ;-) Well done Dino!

  • Thanks. The camera is a JVC Everio GZ-MS110.

Thanks for visiting the online store. :)

  • nice, what kind of video cmera are you using the quality of the youtube vid is great too. oh by the way I got one of your 555 logo items from cafepress, great idea.

  • Nice !
