  • Bazinga.

  • Wil is such an intellegent ,interesting guy.Good interview.

  • REMEMBER THAT TIME WHEN YOU CUT IN LINE AT INDIANA JONES?

  • "I thought that was incredibly irresponsible of Bill Maher..."

Maher does that shit all. the. time. That guy never bothers to take the time to do some actual research to create a well formed, educated opinion because he relies on his audience to reinforce all of his statements. People who usually agree with him are just now comng to terms with that fact because they finally disagree with him about something. Annoying.....

  • Shut up wesley :P

  • He isnt above playing the dead Mee-Maw card

  • Hmmm how active is Will in politics??? It would be amazing if he could run for president in the future

  • Wil Wheaton the nemesis of Sheldon cooper XD

  • every time i say Wil Wheaton i say it like Stewie... lots of emphasis on the H's preceding the W's hahaha

  • OOOOOOF COOOOOOOURSE

  • Wil Wheaton fucking rules.

  • @CrossTheGrigori I don't have a religion I have a relationship with my god.....

  • lmfao. What is up with the subtitles?

  • I downloaded a free diaper pattern from megaupload which wasn't an illegal activity though there were plenty who probably did use it illegally but that doesn't mean the owners of the site foresaw that. Besides I'm sure they had a disclaimer in their terms of use saying they aren't responsible for the content uploaded. So honestly this shouldn't even be an issue.

  • SHUT UP WESLEY

  • WILL WHEEEEATOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNN!!!!

  • @CrossTheGrigori We do have fact, like if you put all matreals you need to make like in the right condistion and NO life come out of it, and your Sicence is more flaud more then my relationship with god is, so end of the debate it you side relies on test, data, and all that that only a few selecte sicentist are alowed to look at, so that means they could of said eatting your poo is good for you and gave all this stuff and you'd belive it.

  • @CrossTheGrigori To butt in for a second can I point out that while you asked for a rational discussion you are coming off as a hypocrite. For one thing you are stepping on someone's personal beliefs which you have no right to tell someone is right or wrong. Furthermore what does it matter? You're happy with your beliefs and so is the person you're arguing with. Bu you know you're just trying to argue on YouTube comment section- 1 Fail point to you :)

  • Nevermind SOPA, ACTA is the real threat right now.

  • @CrossTheGrigori Meh..... okay you belive that fail idea, I won't say anymore I don't fight useless fights.

  • Well said Mr. Wheaton, Well said

  • Shut up, Wesley!

  • I was expecting Sheldon to make him look bad

  • Oh my good. Ive never paid much attention to will wheaton, but watching this opened my eyes. He became instantly my hero :P very smart and logical arguments, and for a good cause... These sopas, and actas can do some serious damage to the modern society, and seriously aid misinformation of citizens, making democracy a thing of the past.

  • People should be focusing on ACTA, which if I'm not mistaken, is pretty much passing. As one sight said, this is a mere distraction. CORRUPTION.

  • The best part of Star Terk was when they cut him. It was so stupid that a 15 year old saves the world that many times.

  • This dude played Floyd Hansen in Criminal Minds!

  • @CrossTheGrigori A soul is the core of what make you, you, if you had not soul you'd be mean, non-careing, and believe in nothing not even yourself, so do you have a soul? I hopee you do.

  • @jackof4356

And what exactly do you base all of this ?

What is this "soul" you speak of, where is it located ? what is its purpose ? what is it composed of and what are its properties ?

Or maybe you are refering to adults believeing in fairy tales ? it is 2012 we no longer believe in mysticism and vodoo magic

  • @neveSykcuL It was a figure of speech, let him be.

  • WHEATOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNN!!

  • poker cat.

  • lol i know nothing about star trek, i know this guy in big bang theory

  • Shut up Wesley!

  • 'Burning a house to the ground because there was a stolen DVD in it' - Don't give them any more ideas...

  • THE.BIG.BANG.THEORY

  • I just got hooked on the Guild because of this interview. >.<

There goes more of my life on Youtube...

  • The Guild! XD Your character was such a turd on that show but you were awesome haha

  • WHEATOOOOON!!

  • Sheldon Cooper ownedpwnz him plz +_+

  • tell us how you really feel will!

  • I support SOPA.

  • @cyb3rbully1nghurts Posting this on youtube, one of the sites that could be shutdown by SOPA.

  • Thumbs up if you knew the top comment was gonna be thumbs up if angryjoe sent you here.

  • @nikojjjj i won't thumb u up becuz ur an attention whore who failed at life so miserably at life that you have to get recognition on the internet.

  • Don't trust him. He's not above pulling the dead memah card.

  • Sheldon's nemesis :D

  • @RozZinDisguise I was just thinking of Sheldon screaming "Wheaton!" lol

  • SOPA: *in the style of Jean-Luc* SHUT UP, WHEATON!

  • Normally I am actively against celebrities injecting their personal politics into their material, and actors actively giving political interviews; they're here to entertain, NOT to lecture. BUT, I have to give Will Wheaton a lot of credit. He came through with the proper research, correct information, and actually sound like he has a brain. Even a conservative like Dwight Shultz would be proud as a fellow Star Trek actor.

  • As Captain Jean-Luc Picard said "The line must be drawn HEEAAH, This Far! No Farther!"

  • WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAATOOOOONNNN !!!

  • WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAATOOOOONNNN !!!

  • WHEEEEAATON !!!

  • Cenk is such a cocksucker.

  • @ZM7241994 How mature.

  • @ProudAtheist90 Thank you! :)

  • well the amount of copyright material/illegal material on just youtube is insane. even the biggest sites got stupidly high amount of illegal stuff on them, if they cant hold people personally responsible for their uploads they should be responsible for the content and use some off their millions of dollars to uphold the law.

  • @Erebus2075 and this isn't becouse it's hard for them to find, i can do a 1h search and properly come up with over 1k hits of illegal copyright material on youtube, so more then clearly they are not even trying to keep it clean. do agree that the law need to be tweaked but there is diffinately a need for a law FORCING big websites to obay the law or get shut down

  • ¡¡¡WHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEAAAAAATTTTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNN!!!

Hope Sheldon Cooper doesn't find you, but still, I HATE SOPA!!!

  • bortaS bIr jablu'DI' reH QaQqu' nay!

  • Wil Weaton sounds like a really smart guy and he backs up his statements quite firmly. I don't get it why people give him so much shit.

  • @helgih580 because he didn' appear at comiccon

  • thumbs up if u went here cause of ANGRYJOE

  • @RYANBOIRDRLAWDS No, Kevin sent me.

  • I heard in an articel that SOPAs leader downloaded pirated material on the internet. fail?

  • @Dennizjoon yeah. For his campaign website, the background image used is under copyright if someone else (I forgot the name DJ something-something), who weren't given the credit for it. In other words, Lemar Smith (The idiot behind SOPA), used pirate material for his website - Epic fail.

  • WWWHHHHEEEAAATTTOOONNN!!!

  • @bentep0511 i was loading this page up and thought about posting that lol

  • Now fetch me Will Wheaton!

  • ACTA!!! *Sigh*

  • Most politicians are middle to over the hill in age and don't know shit about the internet or new technology especially this congress that wants us to go back to the stone age. These politicians only do what the lobbyist tell them to do. Why don't they have studies going on by experts before they make these quick and stupid laws?

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck off with this "wheaaatooonnn" shit people. this man belongs to star trek, not some fucking big bang crap show.

    id prefer "shut up wesley"

  • He's turned in Will Riker.

  • WHEAAATOOOOONNN!!!!!

  • cenk star trek joke. fail.

  • Why do people in the entertainment industry find it completely reasonable for them to be paid over and over for a job they did ONCE?

  • @Jessehz

    do you get a pension?

many people working in this field do not have unions and don't get pensions.

  • @Jessehz Uhhh...because they are liberals?

  • "Intellectual property theft"!?

BITS ARE NOT REAL TANGIBLE OBJECTS THAT CAN BE STOLEN!!!

  • I must say TYT is amazing to me, I never really care about news and politics, but in some way they make it interresting :)

  • I think Cenk would jizz in his pants if he ever got to interview Patrick Stewart...

  • @DeJach Wouldn't we all?

  • @CrossTheGrigori You cannot separate business and state because states are businesses. (And poorly run.)

  • Everytime I hear his name I cant help but hear Stewie Griffin saying it...

  • How can he call the people at MU dirtbags those guys are awesome and they have over 130 million users a day how do you expect them to regulate that, which they tried to do. They would have to download every single file even ones that might have viruses.

  • @grkpektis He called them dirtbags for what they were doing with MegaUpload, not for MegaUpload itself. Read up on the case, they were involve in some very shady business, which is why the SOPA lobbyists would argue that if they were a more legitimate business the government would not have shut down their site and curtailed their users' pirating of software.

  • my arch nemisis

  • SHUT UP WESLEY

  • Glad to hear Wheaton tell it like it is with Bill Maher. I like Bill Maher too, but he was such an embaressment when he talked about SOPA. The TYT episode for it got alot of thumbs down for a damn good reason.

  • @EvilAlienPresents was he the guy mentioned in family guy?

  • Yes, like Savio so powerfully said...sometimes you need to throw your body upon the levers and the gears of the machine...we have the numbers, some of us may have to die to bring about more freedom for others.

  • The "devil" may be in the details, but as a musician, I love the internet for the mere fact that it doesn't cost ME to distribute my songs, and it's global so I don't have to go hitch-hiking around the globe with a sack of CD's. This is how most true artists feel, but the corporations really oppose the free flow of music. To call it "theft" is ridiculous. Theft requires that you deprive someone of something. "Steal" a song off my channel, I still have that song. This is the purpose of the web.

  • WWWWWHHHHEEEAAAATTTOOONNNN!!!!!

  • Sheldon Cooper created 17 accounts to dislike this.

  • Comment removed

  • I have to agree with him on Bill Maher on this one point, if Bill didn't pay attention to the bill or do any research how the hell are people supposed to take him seriously anymore?

  • @the1tigglet Yeah I respected him a lot up until that point. Then I had to wonder, what else hadn't he done research on that he talked about? He is now 20% less cool.

  • Shutup Wesley!

  • That dude turned 40 and he still looks like a twelve year old with a glued on beard.

  • whil wheaton look'in good. dudes 40???!

  • Comment removed

  • Shut up, Wesley.

  • Someone needs to send TYT the Mike Mozart videos about how the companies pushing for the bill DISTRIBUTED the pirating software in the first place

  • Bill Maher did not say that he didn't like this... Or maybe I didn't hear it, but I am sure he didn't.

  • Again..Bill Maher did NOT say he liked Sopa. He admitted he didn't know anything about the bill, but liked the idea of legislation that would end online piracy. He didn't argue at all with Republican Buddy Rohmer who pointed out how Sopa would "maim" the internet. Arguably, Bill should have been more conversant about the bill before using it as a pretext to rant against online theft, but he did not endorse SOPA per se. The bill sucks, and Bill hadn't done his homework. No more, no less.

  • @SteveMayhemPresents That's why you shouldn't discuss an issue until you have done your homework. That's very unlike Bill, and quite frankly he had no business talking about something he knew nothing about.

  • @JeanDoe80 Again, he didn't discuss the bill. He discussed piracy.

  • In my honest opinion, the freedom of information and education about any and all things takes president over the ability to maintain intellectual property rights. In fact, intellectual property rights can be demonstrably shown to become detrimental to the advancement of mankind as a whole. This is something i wish I could get the input of the likes of Will Wheaton, and others of his profession.

  • @frankleeseaux while your statement is probably true, it raises questions. How far would you go to promote the development of mankind over an individuals rights? Would you perform unethical experiments on sick people because it will benefit mankind more to not have ethical bariers etc?

  • @TheMuziekmann Wow!!! That was amazing!!! How did you make such an incredible leap of logic, from intellectual property rights, to experimenting on humans? Go Evel Knievel, Go!!! They are such completely unrelated topics of interest. Did you have to use a rocket cycle with special fuel?

  • @frankleeseaux its connecting the dots lol, youre implying that progress of mankind should precede rights of individuals (intellectual property). I'm talking about the other extreme...where would you draw the line? How far would you go for the sake of progress? Maybe this thought is too much to comprende vous? lolz

  • @TheMuziekmann Intellectual extremism aside... What I implied, very explicitly, was that the notion of protection of intellectual property rights impedes, demonstrably, the progress of mankind as a whole. What you have done, with your admitted 180, is to attempt a straw man. it is a false equivocation. Logic fallacies might be fun to engage in, but they are very unproductive. But then, of course, your attempt at calling me stoopid is probably and indicator of your intellect.

  • @frankleeseaux wow someone has a chip on their shoulder. u cant talk about "progress of mankind" and disregard anything and everything related to it. If you think it's a strawman arguement and want insult others be my guest, whether you realize it or not, what you proposed has ethical consequences. Thats was my point. Have fun being emo!

  • @TheMuziekmann I will consider your argument of those far reaching, unforeseen consequences, if you can demonstrate how intellectual property rights equates to unethical experiments, as you have suggested. I will be glad to demonstrate my point about intellectual property rights leading directly to a slowing and even halting of progress within the human condition. If you will first demonstrate your point.

  • @frankleeseaux thank you for considering my point your majesty. But if you dont see my point regarding giving up the concept of intellectual property for the sake of mankind - and disregarding ethics using the same logic (to advance mankind- wether its humane or not) as a result , then I realy can't help you.

  • @TheMuziekmann Wow. You really are full of them, aren't you? Umm, one way you could help this conversation along, quite nicely, might be to actually demonstrate your premise. It would certainly be a start. So far, you have used ad hom attacks, and a few logical fallacies. But, you've provided nothing of any social relevance or value.

  • @TheMuziekmann How can I be expected to see your point when you have not, in fact, even made, or demonstrated a point. You've only made a bold assertion that, somehow, denying intellectual property rights equates to real human suffering, and unethical human experimentation, but, have not provided a single example of this notion. Nor have you done anything to offer evidence of how the two could possibly be related to one another. Just more ad hom attacks. I call BS on your argument

  • The question, at this point, is how to support and protect the notion of intellectual property, while protecting the rights of free speech, and freedom of information.

  • Hwill Hweaton!

  • I really wonder. If I had never seen Wil Wheaton's movies and shows he starred in at all before watching this video, would I think he looked like he was 40? I still see a little kid, even with the beard lol

  • I used to like Bill Maher back in the late 90s when he 1st started that politically correct show. Then I grew up and realized his actually a big pompous, hypocritical zionist piece of shit.

    Fuck him.

  • TheOldJerk.

  • Gordy LaChance for the win!

  • he don't look 40, does he? and yeah SOPA bad and all that....

  • the masses have to wake up

  • Its the Wesley CRUSHERS!

  • He puts his finger where it hurts most: this legislation is giving a huge amount of power over the internet into the hands of some greedy corporations, intent on curbing everyone's rights to shove their contents down our throats.

And I was using Megaupload legally to distribute my personal contents to friends. This sucks big time.

  • I can't get over the fact that Wil Wheaton is 40!

  • Just like english is now the global language, flawed and ridiculous as it is, and even though english doesn't belong to the US, they're going to assert their claim and have everyone either pay taxes to speak english or shut up and not communicate. The only solution will then be to innovate and come up with a new language of our own.

  • This is just stupid. First invent the internet as darpa and when you have control over it hijack everyone else's life. The only way the rest of the world has to show US the middle finger is to innovate for themselves. Boycott the US and innovate for yourself. Piece of shit suckers, thinking they can influence everybody else's life.

  • Wil Wheaton says wise and clever things and should be elected to say wise and clever things.

  • love how american people are always like the world revolves around them. Newsflash suckers ! The world revolves around the earth ! bastrds

  • @FlashBlack very clever.

  • @FlashBlack The world revolves around the earth? Really dude?

  • Thanks to the us government it is hard to buy stuff legitimately now a days. I doubt this is for copy right material or they would not shut down an entire site. It is intimidation. Little by little they are cracking down on the internet until they have complete control. Without the internet how would we get information. The people that they like when they commit a crime they get a slap on the wrist if anything. Anyone else goes to jail forever.

  • Picard never said "get the boy off the bridge"

    He said "Shut up, Wesley"

  • 17 people seem to dislike the freedom that comes with the internet

  • I can't see Wil Wheaton without picturing Sheldon yelling out "WIL WHEAAATOOOON!!!!"

  • Cenk sure came off like an old fogey in that interview. Damn.

  • @PatPowers1995 I know, I was waiting for Cenk to go into why Betamax is sooooo much better than VHS

  • Wil? with a Beard!?

  • Comment removed

  • To anyone that thinks FBI do anything about real criminals they don't care, they just want to be noticed by people and feared, they don't do anything about the terrorist like websites they could easily shut down, if they are going to shut down megaupload then they need to find the others thousands of worse websites and shut those down too.

  • Got news for people for SOPA and ACTA if you like those, just so you know Windows was built together by a pirate do your research if you doubt me.

  • O look its WHHill WHHeaton!

  • One day people will look back and realize that giving corporations rights reserved for the people was one of the worst decisions in history and took away rights from the people.

  • SOPA/PIPA were a distraction from ACTA......and it worked.

  • WARP 9. ENGAGE!

  • Isnt the megaupload fiasco only to shift public attention to SOPA and PIPA. with people saying hey we can take international sites down without it. While ACTA is being passed internationally as we speak which is actually it's bigger brother and they could maybe take down Megaupload because ACTA has been signed by a lotof countries already

  • @Shifurei Actually Megaupload was going to create it's own music service that would put 90% of profits right into the artists pockets

The recording industry saw how that could finally wipe out the entertainment dinosaurs so they had to kill it

  • @dffykvn Interesting your source being?

  • @Shifurei (ht) (tp:/) /ww (w.d) igitalmusicnew (s.c) om/permalink/2012/120125conspiracy

I've found a LOT of articles on google about "megabox"

That was just the first result

Killing an emerging platform to free artists from the megacorps is a much more likely reason than bullshit allegations of copyright violation (I don't see the FBI raiding and arresting google execs for pirated stuff on youtube!)

  • This guy is intensely annoying for some reason.

  • Wheaton is an asshole. I saw how he treated Sheldon Cooper.
