  • That was actually 0-80 MPH.

  • You should warm the engine before accelerating to the maximum of rpm. So the indicator of water temperature should be in the middle (ca 80 °C)

  • @mrfab92 the engine is warmed up, if you see the gauge go any higher then his is then you have a problem

  • Dude why is your Nox so slow? 0-60 in 14 seconds? My I4 AWD does that in 10 seconds.

  • @dreammold Can you not count? 0-60mph in 10 seconds. Which is equal to 0-100kmh incase your Canadian.

  • @Bizzair1990 at the 2 second mark the video actually starts it hit 60 at the 15 second mark. so unless my counting is wrong thats 13 seconds.

  • 14 seconds

  • pretty good for a 4 cylinder and a car weighing 5000lbs

  • slowwwww

  • i love the gauges :)

  • Your 26mpg- how do you drive? lead footed? what sort of roads? Thanks, nice car!

  • can we say slow!!

  • Shifting at 6500 rpms just doesn't seem right to me

  • @cbrunner8331 yeah....7500 sounds better!

  • super sloww of the line and then 3500 rpm cam and it took off lol! Like it had turbo lag without the turbo!

  • Thats not that bad for a compact awd 4 cylinder suv. And the 26.5 mpg is better! lol!

  • Nice Acceleration from that 4 Cylinder.

  • Comment removed

  • its a little slow but i love the engine sound!

  • a 4 cylinder SUV? Not bad for a tiny engine and a big vehicle.

  • Dan, I like it when you go over 60 in your acceleration tests. It would be cool if you could go to like 75 or 80 on all of them!

  • @parsley0120 Thx, Parsley! One day, with luck, we'll get to do them all like that.

  • surprising how much quieter it was than the Rav4...

  • Good tranny ratios

  • 0-60: 9.2 sec

  • I really like that instrument cluster a lot!

  • @maxiy5757 that stupid sideburns guy doesn't know what he's talking about. VW does have some of the best interiors of it's class. Chevy is so shitty, but they're improving, but still not as good as vw or pretty much any japanese or German car maker.

  • @86bmw325i Personally I feel that most Japanese luxury brands look cheap on the interior. But that's just my personal opinion.

  • or should I say "bon au revoir fou"

  • haha lol apprenez donc à parler francais avant d'essayer de le faire et de passer justement pour un imbécile ... Je hais parler avec du monde incapable d'admettre qu'ils avaient tord.

  • what the heck happened at 3200RPM? vtec? haha it just took off after that, like turbo lag...maybe it's just the way they hit the pedal.

  • If I were in the market for a SUV in this price range this is the one I would buy

  • that or like a used for edge youll probably like that

  • I think it runs pretty darn good for a four cylinder.

  • they should put a v8 in it fuel economys shot but it would be a whole lot funner even so as @LawBoy25 said not bad for a 4 cylinder

  • not bad for a 4 cylinder

  • this is some serious proof that gm makes great vehicles.the commitment and innovation from the designers is evident even after the crap that they take from ignerant fools. they could have left and worked somewhere else but they didnt i wonder why?

  • It may not be fast, but at least it's smooth

  • This engine won Ward's list of best engines for 2010. Didn't think I would ever see a GM 4 cylinder on the best engines list.

  • Not bad but I would take a Volkswagen Tiguan over this.

  • @maxou5757 Why would you do that? The Tiguan's interior is rubbish when compared with the Equinox's.

  • Wrong. The Tiguan interior quality is actually the best in its class, a lot better than any average american car including the Equinox. It is plain I'll give u that, but has better quality materials for sure.

  • That's a load of rubbish. The Tiguan is not only plain and lacking in design, but the interior materials are nothing special. I'd confidently put the base Equinox's interior up against a fully equipped Tiguan. Especially if the Tirguan's materials are anything like the 2010 Passat I drove last week; ok, but nothing special.

  • Nô thats not bullshit. You are the only one saying that the Tiguan interior is ok and worse than thé equinox but look at your name... LOL fanboy, all reviewers agree

to say that the tiguan interior is the best in its

class, point. American cars are famous for their shitty interior.

  • The Tiguan is absolute rubbish, you can't argue that. All you have to do is look at it.

  • lol thats not what reviewers say.... lol deal with it the Tiguan is one of the best compact SUV out there and certainly better than the Equinox.

  • @maxou5757

Never quite done with the GM bashing are you? When VW fixes their electrical problems you can start making claims, until then please shut the fuck up

  • lol inform yourself better, VW does not have any electrical problems anymore. These problems were only true for older than 2006 VW models.

  • @maxou5757

The VW Tiguan is no better than an Equinox

  • yes it is, deal with it.

  • @maxou5757

    are you proud?

  • @maxou5757 VW has some poor manufacturing quality. my cousins VW new beetle has fallen apart along with her friends Jetta. I'm talking door handles, fog lights, interior handles, seats have broken where they slide back and forth. oh and the beetle doesn't run anymore.

  • lol you got all wrong lol thats stupid

  • @maxou5757 I'm sorry but I don't understand how I'm wrong when with a 7 year period one VW had the SAME problems the previous one did. Their interior quality is worthless. 2 seperate models with different features one being 7 years newer and they both have the same problems. mechanical and cosmetic. sounds fishy to me. they're both been well maintained. its living proof in my eyes. YOU're stupid.

  • lol chevrolet interior are plain piece of shit... this is not the case with Volkswagen except for the New beetle, the only piece of shit VW makes. a Tiguan, Golf, Passat all have a lot better interior than any GM car except for Cadillac.

  • @maxou5757 yes, chevy interiors were plain and basic (what some people call bad or cheap) but they have yet to fall apart like those volkswagen's and the audi a4 at my auto shop has. that car too is falling apart inside and out. GM has been praised for many of their interior improvements for 2010. The only VW that has a decent interior and quality is the Routan and guess what? IT'S BUILT BY AN AMERICAN COMPANY...ITS NOT EVEN VW, ITS CHRYSLER. hahahaha! they can't even build all of their own cars

  • LOOOOOOOL ... Routan interior iss soooooooo cheap look at the leather hahahaha no seriously VW interior are the best by far like Audi ... whatever what you say people are still going to buy vw/audi product and 1 of the reason is the interior.

I think you really dont know what a great interior is. I'm not talking about stylish interior, but quality materials and VW cars are by far the best in this aspect.

  • @maxou5757 it's VW fault. they take responsibility when they put their label on mr. big shot.

  • "Inside, the CC mostly carries over the Passat's cabin, complete with high-quality materials and well-designed controls. The CC adds a bit of flair, though, with sharp two-tone seats available on every trim level -- tan seat centers and door trim surrounded by black." -- Edmunds

  • "It's refined -- with lovely seats, elegant upholstery stitching, quality switchgear and top-shelf materials. The CC includes some welcome interior upgrades over the Passat." -- Los Angeles Times

  • "Passat presents a comfortable and upscale cabin. Fit and finish is superb and there's a feeling of precision to all the controls." -- Edmunds

"Like other Volkswagens, the Tiguan exists somewhere between standard line and luxury. That is most evident inside, where the Tiguan has more soft-touch solid materials than most compact SUV competitors." -- New Car Test Drive

  • "In keeping with Volkswagen's reputation for upscale cabins, the interior of the Tiguan boasts high-quality materials and tight-as-a-drum build quality. Real aluminum -- not silver-colored plastic -- enhances the premium feel." -- Edmunds

"Based on its quality of materials and level of comfort the interior of the Touareg 2's interior easily rivals the best in the luxury SUV class. Where it can't compete, however, is in seating capacity." -- Kelley Blue Book

  • SEE ? You cannot deny evidence, VW makes the best interior in its class.... now GTFO you have no clue of what you're talking about dumbass.

  • @maxou5757 yep. you're still arguing with yourself. I figured you'd do that. oh right, i'm a dumbass. who is quoting an outdated site that no one uses anymore. they're b.b. values don't even matter anymore. everyone uses nada. thank you mr. 1998. BYE CRAZY

  • please show me some reviews where they say VW interiors are crap ... I'm waiting.

  • @maxou5757 here's a review. fly your foreign ass to america and take a look in my cousins drive way. there is a 25,000 dollar pile of CRAP VW "new beetle" sitting there that DOESN'T run. :-) i'm done. you're a foreign idiot that can barely speak english. argue with yourself. i've already read the reviews. why else would someone have to come in and take over quality control? because they were failing at it. no other reason.

  • "Padded surfaces abound. Top-quality materials create an attractive, comfortable, well-made cabin. Sport's leatherette seats and faux-metal plastic trim are credible imitations and still feel class-appropriate. Luxury's leather surfaces, brushed metal trim, and chrome accents convey a classy, up-market look and feel." -- Consumer Guide

  • "From the solid ka-chunk of the door closures to the comforting embrace of the front bucket seats, everything about the latest Golf reinforces VW's renewed emphasis on quality." -- Car and Driver

"Everything from the soothing white instrument lighting to the high-quality switchgear builds on the Golf's confident driving dynamics, giving the car a premium look and feel." -- Edmunds

  • "The interior strikes a sporty, rather than austere, note. Brushed-metallic accents and chrome trim dot the cabin and impart a much-needed bit of flash. Most surfaces are high-quality-feeling soft-touch plastics." -- Consumer Guide

  • @ sideburns, I have one of those "pile of crap vws" your talking about, it has 400,000 miles on it and it runs like new. It's comfortable, reliable and averaged me 57 mpg for the whole year last year. I think your just a vw hater.

  • I'm sure it's a TDI. Old VW are fine. New ones have gone down hill for the average consumer cars....as in mid range price that more people buy. like the jetta. funny how i'm a "vw hater" when I'm the one fixing all the problems that friends/family has with them

  • @sideburns2009 the jetta's engine (2.5 liter 5 cylinder) is a US only engine made in mexico. the golf gti is made in germany and uses proper german materials.

  • I've had 2 audis (2001.5 A4 1.8TQMS), it saw the shop more then any car I've every owned combined (counting company cars). The dealer actually gave me a trade in on another one (good deal I couldnt pass) and it too was a POS, just not as bad. But your right...They had great interiors...Just VW/Audi could not figure out how to make a moonroof not leak in winter, and coil packs that did not go out (I had 6 replaced on first audi, 2 on the other). Both purchased new, the 2nd was a 2003 lol

  • @grometsc u sure its not u? my pos grand prix does not leak at the sunroof at all and i think the coil packs right now are the originals(99' grand prix btw) and im pretty sure a a6 2.7t would be an upgrade...

  • @racingisfun This is why our country is failing I guess...Great your GP doesnt leak and its coil packs are not issues.... Where on freaking earth did I mention a Pontiac GP in that post as having those issues????Please show me!!!!

  • @grometsc no ur talking about audis and id love to own an audi and im talking about how even my shitty gtp doesnt have problems like that though im at 220k km137k mileage and it feels like the trans might go...

  • @maxou5757 here in america, we like to support amercia by buying american cars. not saying foreign cars are bad. just not VW. they actually had to hire someone else for to come in and take over quality control because it had been so bad. they're were rated next to lowest JD power's initial quality ratings which is obtained by consumer complaints. you know actual people that bought the actual cars and complained. not biased companies like consumer reports. i'm only stating facts.

  • WRONG.

    jdpower(DOT)com/autos/ratings/quality-ratings-by-brand/sortcolumn-1/ascending/page-#page-anchor

Volkswagen (in initial quality) is rated better than lots of american brands and even better than Mitsubishi, Subaru, Mazda.

But yeah lol your american ... i know you will always support GM before foreigh cars...

  • @maxou5757 you're sadly mistaken. I do not support GM whatsoever, they only own 2.5% of their own company, everything else is government owned. Find the article that talks about the new guy they hired for quality control (that is all entire vehicle quality, not just interior) and it shows you the JD Power for that year. and sorry but Mitsubishi and Mazda aren't american nor are they classy or top of the line....they're not known for quality especially of the interior.

  • I'm on the fence between American cars and their foreign competitors. There's different things I like about each.

  • Thank you! I am sick and tired of people always commenting saying "oh American cars suck, imports are always better" I drive a Nissan Maxima myself, but I really love the new designs that GM is putting out. I am particularly fond of the new Malibu too. They both have pros and cons, no car is perfect :)

  • Yes I Agree!

  • 10 seconds not bad for a 4 cylinder try it with a 6 cylinder

  • I am really loving the new design for the Equinox. GM is churning out some stellar designs!

  • Except in the Terrain!

  • Very very nice acceleration for a 4cyl engine. and the noise really nice too for the excellent 4cyl engine 2.4 182horsepower..

    Excellent for GM!

    Congratulations

  • The car companies believed they could sell average cars and make their money on the financing side of things. Of course when you set out to make average cars and cut corners to save money you end up with bad cars. Things have really changed now however, they realize they have to make great cars to compete.

  • I'm not a domestic hater but I grew up driving Accords really hard, and they were relatively problem free with barely any maintenance. You couldn't honestly say that about most American cars back then. Hell, until about 2006.

That's how the imports gained market share and reputations.

Greedy US auto execs cut quality levels to make more money and blamed the results on the autoworkers by saying they were lazy.

It doesn't matter who puts a car together... using crummy parts the car won't last.

  • I can respect where you are coming from. But don't put it all on the Execs, the workers are to blame too, how can you have a guy doing unskilled work making 25 bucks an hour and expect to make a profit? I think everyone involved is to blame.

  • and for some reason people still think that domestic auto makers make junk cars that get shit mpg still think that arguement is valid.

    get a fucken clue.

  • For SOME REASON? I think the reason is that they built pieces of junk for the better part of 30 years and have built a bad reputation because of it. Americans could build cars as good as Toyota or Honda today but nobody will know it for 10 years. It will take that long for people to see high mileage new US cars on the road and see how well they hold up.

GM and Ford are building some nice cars now but long term durability is the only real test of how good they will be.

  • your problem is understanding that AMERICANS DO BUILD GOOD CARS like toyota or honda today, if not BETTER. driven a new GM lately? Driven a new Ford lately? i drive all new GMs throughout work and so on from GM cargo vans to newer impalas and hhrs and they get beat to hell and the reliability is pretty amazing.

people need to get there head out of there asses about the past, toyota and honda cars arent as good as they used to be when gm and ford were shit.

  • I already explained that I realize US auto makers are building better cars today than they used to. However, their well deserved reputations for building crap will haunt them for decades. They brought it on themselves for building such crap for so long.

Toyota and Honda still build excellent cars my friend and to say othewise is foolish.

AGAIN - long term durability is the true measure. It will take a long time to convice people that were burned american junk of 80s, 90s and up to 2006.

  • im sorry man, toyota and honda have been slacking while the domestics have been winning more and more buyers, ill take a GM/ford over any toyota or honda any day. tracky interior and the same issues domestics have to boot.

for someone to think that gm/ford make crap un fuel efficient cars is just plan BS, they have for some time now been making great reliable cars that people have there eye on and are buying.

  • Toyota and Honda have been slacking? You're on glue.

The domestics have been winning back buyers? That's why they're almost bankrupt I guess.

It's only in the last year or so that American manufacturers have built any fuel efficient cars that could even come close to Honda's or Toyota's.

The fact that GM is now building some cars even more fuel efficient than the Japanese shows they could have done it the whole time. That is the worst part - they just didn't. Now they're paying for it.

  • Toyota and Honda's quality HAVE been declining lately. Honda's have awful road noise, crappy automatic transmissions that die, Toyota somehow managed to fuck up the floormats so they are deadly, and also have quite a few sludge engines that aren't fixed. Meanwhile, Ford sales are increased greatly, and their quality is at LEAST on par with the aforementioned T & H, and I would even say it is better than them.

  • I admit that FORD has been building SOME better cars since 2006, BUT only time will REALLY tell. You can forget those nonsense 90 day Initial Quality Surveys Ford so proudly markets.

People like you having been saying shit like that since the 80's when Fords were falling apart on the roads, literally, and Toyota's and Honda's had hundreds of thousands of reliable miles on them. That's how Toyota and Honda built their reputation and the Big 3 lost theirs.

    Reputations take time to change.

  • Toyota and everybody else markets the 90 day initial quality surveys too. Our 2003 ford expedition has been pretty reliable with only a couple problems. Right now just waiting on a new fuel pump to install. But it's a great truck.

  • Toyota doesn't have to market reliability anymore. The general public, you know the people that actually purchase the automobiles... they're the best marketing tools Toyota could ask for. I don't think I've ever met a dissatisfied Toyota owner (except on the Internet - funny about that).

I can't even count how many pissed of American auto owners I've met over the years (in person).

  • dude you have your head so far up toyotas/hondas ass you dont even know what GM / domestic has produced for so many years now..

and thats FUEL EFFICIENT, RELIABLE VEHICLES.

  • Yeah... that's why GM is going bankrupt. Take a cavalier and compare it to a Civic or Corolla for durability and especially gas mileage and GM didn't come close for decades.

Why do you think all the tuner kids are driving civics, inegras et all? Because you can beat the piss out of them and they keep working everyday. Try abusing a cavalier/sunfire that way and it won't be long before it's sitting in a scrap heap with all the other GM cars older than 6 years old.

  • Gm is going bankrupt for one big reason UNIONS and they got too big, too many brands that had too many of the same things.

but the main drain was UNIONS, i mean look around GMs are everywhere, countless of them but they still couldnt make any money because of the pensions, healthcare and many other reasons with there union contracts.

plus unions are killing companies and corporations everytime they demand more and more when there isnt more to give.

'unions are a cancer and kill industries.

  • I agree, the UAW is a monkey on the Big Three's back... BUT the MAJOR reason for their demise was building unreliable rattle traps with poor fit and finish.

The fact that they are building better cars now, since about 2006, also shows that they could have done it all along. They still have to deal with Unions.

The executives at GM, Ford and Chrysler were greedy bastards that tried to appease stock holders by building cheaper cars to make more profits. They got higher bonuses that way.

  • you obviously know nothing about the tuner market. tuners are more then civic and integras. and they are always using aftermarket motors and such. i see alot of tuners that are cobalt ss's, gxps, and yes cavailiers, sunfires, gtps, but the thing with

cavis and sunfires, theres only so much u can do. with a civic/integra, theres countless motors that drop right in.

tuners are alot more then just imports man, you really need to open your eyes

  • Yes, Tuners are more than Civics and Integras but not much more. The only people tuning cavaliers, sunfires are the people that can't afford imports.

I have seen American tuned cars but not many and only in the last few years.

  • i beg to differ. many imported car brands, mostly asian, offer cars at lower prices then domestic auto makers. they also offer better financing services with low apr's and great lease specials. However american auto companys did that to themselves, and while they were acceptable cars, they werent worthy of competing with foreign automakers. now they seem to have turned around and i gotta say, they have some great products that outshine the competition.

  • yeah the cavalier/ sunfire isn't the only car GM makes. I've met many people that have put over 250K miles on their 3800. How about a GM V8?

  • Amen to that. 288K on a 1997 L67. It'll still get over 30mpg on the highway if i keep it below 2000rpm, which happens to be right at 70ish mph (a nod to the awesome low end torque of these engines). Oh yeah, and it'll still spin the tires all the way through 1st gear at will.

  • yeah but you won't hear about that...all you hear about is these young people who bash american cars.........little do they know they are underminding their own future. Then again the government got what they wanted (GM) so you'll probably see the economy "turning around" soon

  • My 70 year old father will not drive a domestic anymore and years ago he laughed at imports. Other relatives his age drive Toyota's, Hyundai's, and Nissan's. Why?? They're the guys that were burned back in the 80s when they drove Dynasty's, Caravan's, Cavalier's, Corsica's, LeBarons etc. They experienced tranny failures, engine failures, blown ac units at 45K and the list goes on.

Driving American cars convinced them not buy them anymore. It wasn't anything someone told them.

  • The GM V8's are really good. My mom has a Yukon XL with 180K on it. It still runs like new, with regular maintainance of course.

  • agreed, they have the best V8's in my opinion. Power, economy, longevity.

  • I agree. Definitely just an all around good engine and they are on a safe platform (GM's frames don't rust lol!)

  • thats debatable. but with proper maintenance they are great cars,

  • Not to be a domestic kiss ass but toyota is having their own problems as of late as well, financial and otherwise.

  • I'm not too worried about Toyota. 2008 was the first year EVER they lost money. They'll survive the storm no problem. GM lost money every year for about the last 15 and they're still scraping by.

  • I don't even drive a Honda or Toyota. I have a Ford Fusion SEL V6. The Fusion has been a decent car so far but the interior is crap compared to a Camry or Accord and the mileage is worse too.

Just because I marvel at the engineering ability of the Japanese doesn't mean I drive on of their cars. I used to drive Honda's and BMW only. BMWs are not reliable anymore.

Honda and Toyota have fantastic reputations though, well deserved. The domestics have their shoddy reputation for a reason as well.

  • i drive so many different GMs from 2003 on, my company does NO maintenance to these cars unless something breaks, i mean they just add oil, never do oil changes. they are all beat to shit and they never die, these GM cargo vans, hhrs, and so on just keep going and going. the caravans we have always have problems.

  • Wow cars since 2003! That's such a long time isn't it?? NOT.

  • @pcmr57

lol 2003 is the date when i started driving new gms.

    they hold up pretty well...

  • dude do you even realize what your saying?

"its only the last year or so that american manufacturers have built any fuel efficient cars"

dude are you kidding yourself here?

last year or so? one car brand and modelcomes to mind that liberals love and its over 20 years old GEO METRO. super fuel efficient .

i could use all the characters up saying all the fuel efficient models american makers have made that have been around for 10-20years now.

    get a grip.

    and

  • Yes I know what I'm writing and YOU clearly do not. The 20 year old METRO that you speak of is not an American car. It's a Suzuki, that's right, a Japanese car. GM bought those from Suzuki and put the name Geo on it. They also did it with the tracker and the prizm (a Toyota Corolla).

You remind me of a guy that would argue how he Geo Prizm was the best car he ever owned. He put 200K on it. He didn't realize it was a Toyota Corolla. He was an idiot. You are worse.

  • lmfao.

dude i brought up one brand that GM used to have, that liberals/hippies love.

thats not to say the tons and tons of FUEL EFFICIENT brands/models gm has made for years now.

get a grip man, fuel efficent cars have been around since the late 80s. gm/ any domestic maker has produced fuel efficient cars for the longest time.

now you say ford has been making good cars since 2006. earlier you said domestics have only made good/fuel efficient cars for only a year.

  • Ford's have been building a few decent cars since 2006, starting with the fusion. GM only the last year or so with the Malibu. Chrysler with nothing.

Any "fuel efficient" vehicle that Americans built were still inefficient compared to Japanese models and mostly still are.

Google 2008 50 litre challenge and see how the US cars compare to Honda and Toyota for fuel mileage and don't compare the Pontiac Vibe, it's a Toyota Matrix.

  • @pcmr57 Well then why is it that if american cars stink for MPGs that the foreign car makers can't seem to make a pickup truck as fuel efficent as GM Ford or Dodge even? I'll tell ya why it's cause they are into V8 territory something they had little to no experience with unlike the American cars. So they have to catch up if they want to have a chance for the truck market gas milieage.

  • I wasnt expecting an AWD 4-banger to be this quick. Not too shabby at all.....

  • Yep! This one points to the future, when most CUVs will be I4-equipped. Of course, I'd prefer a clean diesel I4 ... :)

  • With more torque.

    10 seconds ain't too bad.

  • for 4 cyl yes

  • i hope not all have I4, we need to have some pep available, atleast in option wise.

  • GM dispite going threw chapter 13 has been making cars and trucks that can compete on a global market. For example: ZR1 114,362 vs. 3 to 400 thousand dollar cars. As far as the CTS they have com a long way since 2005. And with the V series having a detuned version of the ZR1 engine, BMW and Mercedes Benz have a lot to worry about. People should stop sucking jap cock and jump back on the american band wagon where us americans belong................ USA USA USA.

  • It will be better if you put a video of 3.0 liter

  • the I-4 gets better gas mileage, along with decent performance. The Ecotec is one of GM's best engines ever made, with the exception of the 3800 Series V6.

  • Not bad at all

  • not bad

  • it sux that ALL trim levels only come with the 178hp I4 engine......the car weighs like 3,800lbs bout the same as the malibu.....The malibu has a hard time with the Weight of itself when mated with the I4

  • The 3.0 SIDI V6 with 250 hp is also available...

  • i went to the website and loked at it....they all have the same engine. but then again the V6 could be an option but i didnt see it

  • Wrong. It's a 2.4 liter 182 hp SIDI I4 that's standard on all trim levels. Also availible is a 3.0 liter 264 hp SIDI V6. The base Malibu's curb weight is 3,415 lbs and the base I4/four speed has no problem moving it around, I own one.

  • ok u must not drive fast becuz when ur doing about 60mph on the hwy then floor it, it does almost nothing but make noise

  • Actually, you're wrong again. The Malibu picks up really quick when you floor it from 60 mph because it makes it's peak torque and horsepower at higher rpms. There's plenty of power for merging, passing and the occasional moments where I put ricers to shame.

  • ok whatever the malibu hybrid an LS have the same motor. i have seen the hybrid an the LS both do nothin when u floor it at 60mph

  • Actually, you're technically wrong again. The Malibu hybrid, which has been dropped by the way, has a detuned version of the four cylinder engine in the LS. It only has 164 h.p. compared to 169 and it's slower and less responsive. The electric motor in this mild hybrid does nothing to help the Malibu's acceleration. The hybrid is notably slower than the LS.

  • wow 5 less horse power. yeah that makes a differencean i kno its been dropped and i kno it does nothin to help the acceleration. and even if it did help it still would have trouble

  • The few less horsepower and different tuning actually do make a difference. I'm telling you from experience, the four cylinder Malibu is pretty quick for a four. It takes about 9.5 seconds to get to 60 and once it's going it's really quick because it makes peak power at high rpms.

  • Actually...you're technically wrong. While the BAS Hybrid's motor has been tuned for efficiency (and thus losing 5 hp) the motor DOES provide acceleration assist. It does not, however, allow the car to accelerate without the gasoline engine because its configured to drive the accessory belt.

  • I never said that it doesn't assist acceleration, fool; I just meant doesn't help the Malibu accelerate quicker.

  • "the electric motor does nothing to help the Malibu's acceleration" - sounds like you meant it didn't assist acceleration, but w/e - its a moot point.

  • This engine seems to do just fine in this car, don't you think?

  • Yep. It does just fine for what it is ... =)

  • its OK but i have an 05 equinox (got it in 04 as an 05 model) with a V6 and it does much better then this and it sounds way more powerful

  • It has the 3.4 liter 185 h.p. V6 (LA1), right? I had the same engine in my 2000 Chevy Impala. It was pretty quick if not coarse and unrefined at high rpm. I did enjoy the throaty sound it made near redline if I remember it correctly.

  • but the one in the equinox is tuned and im gettin an Equinox Sport soon. but im keeping my 05 too

  • Why don't you save up for the 2010 Equinox?

  • i dont like its design. it looks like a van to me

  • that is true, but they're main goal for this new Equinox was to get much better fuel economy...EPA highway rated at 32 mpg, which is a lot better than even a CRV, RAV-4 etc. But if power is what you want, the new 3.0 liter V6 has a lot of it!! Rated at 264??? somewhere around there

  • Impressive for the 4-banger with AWD!

  • Wow I thought this would have v6 or V8. hmm. Pretty quick for a SUV with a 4

    -cyclinder

  • Thats one of the nicest sounding 4 bangers to come from GM since the 2.3 quad4

  • This SUV kicks mad booty in everything! Speed, fuel economy, looks, interior styling, everything. GO EQUINOX!

  • more like 9.8 seconds, but still would probably kill a cr-v

  • It would be about the same, the CR-V does 0-60 in 9.9 seconds.

  • 7 secs? thats fast for 4 cylinder SUV as 2238945gbs said

  • Pretty quick for a SUV with a 4 cylinder

  • I drove the new Equinox V6 the weekend before last. Very nice interior and a good engine.

  • Audio is a little quiet on this one.
