@tinumyster Sadly, not very. If you're going to do your own cooking, there are lots of great, delicious vegetables and fruits available everywhere (though fruit tends to be pretty pricey), so you'd be okay. The problem is that most dishes at most restaurants, even ones that don't contain meat, USE meat or fish products for flavoring.
Vegetarianism isn't very big over here, so finding a place that is conscious about the meat content of their food is pretty hard.
Okay, now that i know how to officially make this, (thanks to you) I don't have to run to the restaurant down the road from where you stayed. I wish I could've shown you my beach before this video, you would've had a more comfy beach to cook at.
SPAM and Goya are yum. well SPAM at least. I force myself to eat Goya for it's health benefits - it's an acquired taste.
@AnyaE11 When you make it like this, the mirin and sugar make it more friendly to your mouth. And letting it sit in salt cuts down on the bitterness a LITTTTTTTTTLE bit.
@markshmily Not at all. I actually don't really like spam either, but this was good. I dunno why, but Spam is really popular in places like Okinawa and Hawaii. US military influence?
Goya is that green thing, and it's got a consistency like a THICK pepper, with a really bitter taste. Yuzu is a japanese citrus fruit. Taste wise, I think it's like a half-orange/half lime almost.
Ive never seen a cooking video outdoors....pretty awesome!! you're girlfriend is such a good sport about making videos in the middle of vacationing ^_^
That looks absolutely marvelous. Payday is this weekend; if I can splurge for a can of SPAM (that's not something you hear everyday), this is going to happen in my frying pan.
Speaking of tofu, I'm on a tofu kick these days (because I'm broke). Any fun recipes you can recommend? I'm already mastering Thanks for the video!
@shortnsuite3 I've had a couple of requests for a basil-tomato-garlic tofu steak recipe recently. I'm sure you can find similar recipes online, but when I put mine up, I'll let you know!
