Pilot seems to have encountered ground effect (like every other time he gets within 10-15 feet of the ground) and couldn't get the plane down... Makes for a long landing... btw love the music when it skips to the landing..
flyckn, this is my thought on why thwy don't use Nellis....Say the president is going to the strip for a speaking engagment. If he flew into Nellis his motorcade would be exposed to public roads for such a long time that the secret service would have a cow. (lol) Now if he flies into Mccarran he is that much closer to the strip...less exposeure for him and his motorcade to any "bad" guys. Now yes is does screw up planes landing and taking off at that time....but that is just my guess
OMG!! iwas working that day and we were on ground hold for 30 minutes.. i was stopped right next to the bridge just before the airport tunnel.. if you see the southwest tail @ 1:03. i was only about 50 ft from that plane..
i had front row seats in viewing this landing.. nice!
look at the distance between when the rear tires hit and the front tires hit. its hard to see the front but if you look closely you can see a puff of smoke
That's not the greatest thing you would want when landing. It is an indecation of two things we see here. 1.He flared too early and 2.He might of been going a bit faster then their approach speed. But overall a pretty good landing.
omit the word heavy when om communications with Air Force One... just saying. .65

the plane is only called airforce one when the president is on it

Don't want to ruin the rep of Air force oilots by spilling a drink on landing....
AF1 is an extension of the White House ...but safer....
They're Air force 1. The Heavy is understood.

That is a Vegas summer day for you. The hotter it is the more potent the ground effect.

Interesting that the TRs came out before the nose gear was planted...

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Sounds fake, not saying it is, but all Boeing 747 aircraft are supposed to have the word Heavy in the callsign, "Air Force One Heavy"
