I remember when childrens T.V presenters almost used to look faintly disgusted with what they were reading like this guy...the people who sort of turned it all around were Philip Scofield and Andy Peters on BBC. After that they had to be innanly cheerful. Although I suppose there was always Timmy Mallet. We can't discount him. Is it just me or was there something faintly odd about those old Hornby adverts? I can't quite put my finger on it...
I remember our local Boots had a playable NES that would reset itself every 5 minutes (presumably so kids like me wouldn't spend all afternoon there) - they also had a SNES when they were released, I could never get a go - even with the reset thing, all the older kids would hog the thing.
Those were the days when Snap, Crackle and Pop were superheroes helping you recover your breakfast or stop it being stolen. They should of kept them this way.
This is nice! The bewitched board game looked pretty cool (I don't think we had that in the States). The 80's were good times...great time to be a kid!
Omgosh, i rma when snap crackle and pop looked like that, i remba having the action figures too it. Geez the games were expensive back then, i wouldnt pay those prices today.
omg... "the vampire game, you might get bitten by it" ?? that doesn't even make any rational sense!! i forgot that snap, crackle and pop were so cool, as opposed to the stupid little puny elves they've become... and since when did boots sell games consoles??
I remember all of this!! EXCEPT the presenter on c-itv - was he around for only a short time or somthing 'cos I have absolutly no recolection of him at all....
@lavverlylad No, sue was trying to learn how to give hand jobs.. and it went horribley wrong.. lol Sue got out a hammer and mathew said Ill knod my head...and you hit it...it was only a matter of time after that ><
anyone remember when Rice Crispies used to give away single colored plastic figures of its characters? And you could cut up the box to make a headquarters or car for them to go in?
omg, this has brought back horrific memories for me! i always wanted a cricket doll and never ever got 1 (but at £50, i'm not surprised!)great to reminise tho!
The Sooty Show. Wicked! Remember the bathroom scenes? Sue got the shower, Sweep got the bath and Sooty got the poxy sink! I thought it was supposed to be HIS show.
my big sis who was 11 had this 'PUSH' album. The RICE KRISPIES super-heroes advert that was quality. And that HORNBY ad too, was up there with the sci-fi-inspired CLARKS advert.
I remember the robot vadly, and that advert I don't remember at all!lol!!, but ad breaks were better back then. These days it's all mainly furniture shops!!!
I don't remember CITV very well when it was like this, I remember more of the early 90s stuff. The stuff I do remember is the Rice Krispies advert (they were lame when they were superheroes), the train ad, and the bewitched board game ad (I loved playing that when I was younger)
Wood Green? I am quite familiar with North London as well. I am not from London but visit it a lot and have been in Highgate Cemetery plus know Finchley and Archway area of Highgate well. Some of my family live in that area.
ha also on 03:18 at the end of the toys r us advert it shows some store locations and one of them is wood green - i've lived there all my life! :D the toys r us store was closed down in the 90s and replaced by a sega park which has also long since gone. The site is now currently occupied by jd sports.
I was 6 years old when this was recorded and at primary school. I can remember many 1980s TV ads and songs. Sooty was the best TV show. Also Raggy Dolls
My Pet Monster I always wanted one but they were too expensive for a stuffed toy. It was either that or a big playset for my action figures and the playset always won. Temped to buy a My Pet Monster off ebay.
Palace Hill was veery funny (if you were a kid!) along with things like T-Bag, Count Duckula and Round the Bend.. Also remember liking Woof! which was cute/magical. While Knightmare was just scary dude.
They were scarce sadly. I was born in 1983 and got an Nes in 1987. I would be shocked and excited by Nes ads as they were hardly any of them. Mattel used to sell the Nes for Nintendo in Europe until about 1990 so the early Nes's said Mattel version on them. I had the basic set with mario, I also got zelda I still have it map and all.
I was born in 1989 and it's really cool to see what CiTV was like back then. The adverts were really good. So I assume you recorded a lot of stuff back then to be put on this Internet? :P
no way i feel so old, bros push was the first album i ever had, i had a my pet monster and a nes, i always wanted one of those robots for the nes but the were too expensive - poor me
