  • I remember when childrens T.V presenters almost used to look faintly disgusted with what they were reading like this guy...the people who sort of turned it all around were Philip Scofield and Andy Peters on BBC. After that they had to be innanly cheerful. Although I suppose there was always Timmy Mallet. We can't discount him. Is it just me or was there something faintly odd about those old Hornby adverts? I can't quite put my finger on it...

  • I don't recall Muskahounds being on ITV. I remember it being on BBC.

  • must have been an old episode of sooty the shows dated as 1986.

  • I adore that Bros ad. "Includes all five hits." It makes it sound almost like they only ever had five songs in total!

  • What is this presenters name...I used to fancy him as a kid!!!!

  • @sundayboy

bollox...you would never seen him when he was a kid

  • @bedfordcrusader HA HAA I re-read my comment! It does read like that doesn't it:)

  • I was only 6 when this was on ^^ I remember that episode of Sooty even today. Ahh.

  • I remember Palace Hill - it sucked! The show it originated on (Your Mother Wouldn't Like It) was much better!

  • OMG @ 3:21 I remember this NES commercial - awesome! XD

  • Oh my god I actually remember some of this stuff. I must be ancient.

  • I didn't realise Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds was on ITV as well. Presumably this was after it's run on CBBC?

  • I was born the next month.

  • dogtainian and the three muskerhounds, loved it

  • lmao whAT THE FCK HAPPENED TO MATHEW. AMAZING

  • I think he died fixing a tv ariel? or was that the guy with the green bird? I forget :/

  • @Mortalfarmer That was lord Rod Hull. Matthew Corbett just retired.

  • @Mortalfarmer the fella you are thinking of is Rod Hull who had that dreaded Emu.

The green b ird you are refering to is Keith Harris's Orvil the Duck( I hate that Duck, always wining he can't fly)

  • Sooty and Sweep, typical men, hopeless without Sue looking after them.

  • I used to love the theme music to sooty show when I was a kid

  • wow that took me back

  • Thanks for uploading this, great memories!! :)

You are right about the date this was recorded. I can confirm this as I recorded the Sooty episode on this day myself.

  • Ah, It ended too sundenly; I could have kept watching for hours. Many memories came flooding back. Thankyou Youtube.

  • I remember our local Boots had a playable NES that would reset itself every 5 minutes (presumably so kids like me wouldn't spend all afternoon there) - they also had a SNES when they were released, I could never get a go - even with the reset thing, all the older kids would hog the thing.

  • That might've been me on that snes hehe....

  • @RomBurns There was a switch on the back which controlled the reset and once we found out how to activate this, well....

  • I work with a guy who looks a bit like Matthew, I keep expecting those feking hand puppets to turn up whenever I see him

  • nintendo? yeh great... but ive got the LYNX!!!

  • Oh God! How I miss my childhood :'(

  • me too!

its just so nice to read every one's comments about when they were little and how nostalgic these videos make you feel!

    Childhood aint long enough!

  • the nintendo - not quite the wii is it?!

  • Not a PS3 or Xbox 360, Is it? But brilliant back in 1988

  • nintendo i want 1

  • bros all 5 hits...lmfao

  • Bros were the biggest thing going back in 1988. My sister (who is two years older than me by the way) became a fan since she was 4!

  • Those were the days when Snap, Crackle and Pop were superheroes helping you recover your breakfast or stop it being stolen. They should of kept them this way.

  • Poor Matthew. He can't even have a wank.

What is the name of that CITV presenter?

    His voice sounds familiar.

I didn't know Bros had five songs and an album.

  • wow I would have only been a baby at the time this was made, cool

  • Fantastic ad for Nintendo - only at Boots!

  • the vampire game had a red stamp you'd put on your hand if you'd been bitten. really hard to wash off. good times

  • She had 1 krispie in the bowl as her packet only had 1 left and thats why snap, cracle and pop came to the rescue.

  • in the rice krispies ad.....why was there 1 single krispie in the bowl before the rest was poured out?...pause it just before the pour out.

  • This is nice! The bewitched board game looked pretty cool (I don't think we had that in the States). The 80's were good times...great time to be a kid!

  • It was all about CBBC! That was the best!

This was very interesting, thanks for uploading it.

  • I used to watch citv

  • Omgosh, i rma when snap crackle and pop looked like that, i remba having the action figures too it. Geez the games were expensive back then, i wouldnt pay those prices today.

  • Sue's in a maids outfit...and sooty has a smile on his face...My god.The Smutty and peep show.

  • roflmao! that med me laugh that! XD

  • 10 years after i was born.....

  • did they say a cricket talking doll

  • the year before i was born

  • I wish I called my dog sweep

  • omg... "the vampire game, you might get bitten by it" ?? that doesn't even make any rational sense!! i forgot that snap, crackle and pop were so cool, as opposed to the stupid little puny elves they've become... and since when did boots sell games consoles??

  • I remember going into boots to try their Megadrive and NES games. They had a pretty decent selection back then.

  • they used to be elves before, they brought BACK the elves..arrgghh

  • 4:29. That is such a gay little man in the picture. He's bending over on his knees with a little skirt riding up. Now that's gay!

  • I remember all of this!! EXCEPT the presenter on c-itv - was he around for only a short time or somthing 'cos I have absolutly no recolection of him at all....

  • that mathew corbet geezer works in west wickham sainsbury's

  • Fantastic quality. I bet it's from an old Beta max tape not your vhs rubbish.

  • Matthew Corbett been in a terrible wanking accident?

  • @lavverlylad HAHAHAHAHA

  • @lavverlylad

    hahah

  • @lavverlylad No, sue was trying to learn how to give hand jobs.. and it went horribley wrong.. lol Sue got out a hammer and mathew said Ill knod my head...and you hit it...it was only a matter of time after that ><

  • wa wa wa... hair,,,, what? his hair!!

ok Bros are seen as cool at the minute, but the adds???? How did they happen.???

For some reason the media decided, just as I grew up, to make media production crazy hard!!!! lol.

look at a commercial now and then,,,,

it weird cos we could make 10 commercials produced and ready every day if they were like that!! LOL,

  • lol you have to laugh at the graphics that were brilliant on nintendo back then

  • anyone remember when Rice Crispies used to give away single colored plastic figures of its characters? And you could cut up the box to make a headquarters or car for them to go in?

  • yea,i had all them..

  • Godamn I remember these ads, I was 9 years old back in 1988 :D

  • omg, this has brought back horrific memories for me! i always wanted a cricket doll and never ever got 1 (but at £50, i'm not surprised!)great to reminise tho!

  • 49 quid for that doll!! what a rip-off

I was one when this aired

  • lol I was like 2 when this was recorded - why the hell did they sell the NES at Boots of all places?? How weird

    I miss Count Duckular ;-;

  • around 2:19 was that the tin towers snap crackle and pop almost flew into

  • Snap, Crackle and Pop are PIXIES! PIXIES DAMMIT! NOT SUPERHEROES! Gaaaaah!

  • I would have been one month younger than three years old.

  • That just made my day! Brilliant, cheers.

  • what sooty ep was that

  • The Sooty Show. Wicked! Remember the bathroom scenes? Sue got the shower, Sweep got the bath and Sooty got the poxy sink! I thought it was supposed to be HIS show.

  • an advert nintendo and than a train set!

  • my big sis who was 11 had this 'PUSH' album. The RICE KRISPIES super-heroes advert that was quality. And that HORNBY ad too, was up there with the sci-fi-inspired CLARKS advert.

  • hmmm

Smash Hits used to constantly refer to Craig out of Bros as 'Ken'.

    cheers for uploading

  • I remember that hornby ad very well!.

    Cool clip.

  • Bros were so cheesy! ..I never liked them, I was into Prince in '88

  • i suppose thats better :)

  • can you please find more Hornby Adverts

    i love them!!!

  • I was 8 years old at the time!!.

  • I only hated the toys r us advert, and the Hornby one!. "I don't want to grow up, I'm a toys r us kid!", "A big pair of eyes!" WTF!!!!?.

Still, this is a great video, and I remember "Lookin'", and "Fast Forward" being CBBC's equivalent! :D.

  • I remember this 100 percent!!!! :D :D :D.

  • thanks so much for that upload!!!

remember Mark Grainger and some of those ads. brilliant. Gilbert's fridge!!!

  • There are so many memories from these clips....Thanks for putting this on....Who else wanted a Nintendo NES???

  • I remember the robot vadly, and that advert I don't remember at all!lol!!, but ad breaks were better back then. These days it's all mainly furniture shops!!!

  • LOL I also hated the Gilbert puppet when I was young. I was 11 when this was shown. :)

Toys seem cheaper nowadays comparatively or am I imagining it? 48 pounds for a doll or 33 for cuddley toy!

It was fantastic to see this. I liked hearing the theme tune of Sooty again. Thanks

  • "Bye, bye everybody!, bye bye!"

    Classic!! :D.

  • I wonder what Mark Grainger's doing these days...

  • Thats my m8's dad presenting that

  • I hated that Gilbert puppet when I was a kid, if I remember he constantly had snot dripping out of his nose.

  • I don't remember CITV very well when it was like this, I remember more of the early 90s stuff. The stuff I do remember is the Rice Krispies advert (they were lame when they were superheroes), the train ad, and the bewitched board game ad (I loved playing that when I was younger)

  • I thought Dogtanian was shown on the BBC!?

  • Wood Green? I am quite familiar with North London as well. I am not from London but visit it a lot and have been in Highgate Cemetery plus know Finchley and Archway area of Highgate well. Some of my family live in that area.

  • Cammi I have tried many websites for flings and online dating but they are not as easy as they say they are.

  • ha also on 03:18 at the end of the toys r us advert it shows some store locations and one of them is wood green - i've lived there all my life! :D the toys r us store was closed down in the 90s and replaced by a sega park which has also long since gone. The site is now currently occupied by jd sports.

  • I was 6 years old when this was recorded and at primary school. I can remember many 1980s TV ads and songs. Sooty was the best TV show. Also Raggy Dolls

  • I it the same building Toys R us used? :).

  • I was 7 days old when this was recorded :)

  • Dear god that doll in the toys r us advert is creepy(and £50- rip-off)

  • ive got a version of the rice kroispies ad. i used to love it, tried dancing around to it all the time.

  • I loved the Vampire game!!

  • ah the vampier game that was fun

  • ive got nes version. so i take that it wasn't popular like it was in usa

  • Bros :D "Includes all 5 hits", woah!

  • bloody hell. The days when a train set was still thought of highly enough to be advertised during kids tv

  • My Pet Monster I always wanted one but they were too expensive for a stuffed toy. It was either that or a big playset for my action figures and the playset always won. Temped to buy a My Pet Monster off ebay.

  • Great video :)

  • Palace Hill was veery funny (if you were a kid!) along with things like T-Bag, Count Duckula and Round the Bend.. Also remember liking Woof! which was cute/magical. While Knightmare was just scary dude.

  • Wow some classic adverts and Citv nostalgia, That rice krispies advert was so lame....

  • first time i have seen a uk nes advert

  • They were scarce sadly. I was born in 1983 and got an Nes in 1987. I would be shocked and excited by Nes ads as they were hardly any of them. Mattel used to sell the Nes for Nintendo in Europe until about 1990 so the early Nes's said Mattel version on them. I had the basic set with mario, I also got zelda I still have it map and all.

  • i feel so old now lol

i can remember my big sister buying the bros album and having to listen to it when we were on holiday

great adverts bringin a lot of good memories back :D

  • That brought back good memories, I forgot I had the Vampire game!

  • My pet monster Classic!!!!!!! Thanks for posting this is wonderful!

  • I was born in 1989 and it's really cool to see what CiTV was like back then. The adverts were really good. So I assume you recorded a lot of stuff back then to be put on this Internet? :P

  • Thanks for posting - you mention a Freemantle database - what is this and how would one access it? Thanks. Rich.

  • I've just included it as part of the description.

  • no way i feel so old, bros push was the first album i ever had, i had a my pet monster and a nes, i always wanted one of those robots for the nes but the were too expensive - poor me

  • hehe i have bros clips from 1990 in betamax :-D

  • ¿No tuviste nunca TV por satélite? Ojalá pudieras haber sacado algo de TVE internacional, seguro que te encantaría.

  • He tenido antena motorizada desde 1996.

  • ¿Y grabaste algo de los satélites? Mi tio tiene solamente satélite para coger hotbird y libres de otros transponders.

  • Sí, tengo algo... que pienso subir aquí.

  • Me parece una idea excepcional.

  • I must admit I mainly watched Children's BBC at this time ... Dogtanian of course had been shown on the BBC.

  • For me, it depended. I would go into a CITV watching phase to a CBBC wathcing phase and vice versa. I had already known that Dogtanian had originally been on CBBC (as some other BRB Internacional productions). In 1990 BRB co-produced a new version of Dogtanian with Thames.
