  • i like the part when he hits the drum and the cymbal at the same time! WORD!

  • his stick flies off, and he is STILL in a beat...

  • i like how he set up his cymbals

  • Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerb!

  • Tim should join red hot chilli peppers not saying chad is bad drummer just saying tim could bring them to a whole new level of supergroup

  • @muddogg1994 Supergroup? The only good player (atm) in RHCP is Flea. Remember, Frusciante left.

  • Tim is the greatest drummer all others should strive to be as good

  • @beatfreak1983 i'd be drum-tech for free.if i got to hear him every night :)

  • i like how he tosses his stick at 3:07

  • I love how he doesn't have headphones on or a track playing in the background and he played the song perfectly from start to finish... A true pro

  • Imhotep makes a pretty good drummer lol. But seriously, I love his tone, especially on the toms.

  • Colonel Kurtz look alike!

  • Here they come!

  • Love 'im!!

  • isnt that here comes the bastards at around 1:30

  • I wish they would keep a camera on his snare so i can see how he's doing those ghost/roll parts...

Could someone explain them to me?

  • @psuperpsycho

    It's in the description;

    "HERB IS GOD!"

    I dunno man, I ain't much of a drummer :/

  • His. Drums. Sound. So. Good. But above all.. played so well.

  • Deep pocket. Now that's a musical drummer.

  • i fuckin love the begining.

  • Here they come...

  • thanks for postin....... people deserve this kind of music. allways a tim fan!!!!!!

  • Pretty sweet how Herb breaks a stick at the 3:07 mark, throws it backward, grabs another stick, and never misses a beat.

  • By far my favorite drummer of all time.

  • Only Tim can make a drum set into a fine work of art

  • Though very skilled, Herb isn't about skill, he's about the closest I heard to a drummer playing musically, on par with my alltime fav. Stewart Copeland. Actually, i remember reading an interview w Copeland, where he was at a rehearsel with Les and Herb (Les had invited him to check him out for THAT new band :D ), exclaiming: wow! that guy had all my licks nailed, he just played them better!

  • Actually, it was Brain Stewart was speaking of in that case (in his book "Strange Things Happen"). Hopefully, this won't start a whole Herb/Brain b.s. thing. I am jus reporting the facts of Stewart's book.

  • @drummer78 hehe, no problem man, thanks for the correction, i read that article YEARS ago, nice to hear from another Copeland 'devotee' :)

Anyway, Brain and Herb are both VERY musical players! - which people doesn't really recognize and find important anymore, most drumnerds only focus on technique these days....

  • Was that a broken stick he tossed or did he just lose it? Some nice ghost notes in there.

  • Would just like to add my tuppence that yes this is a drummer drumming not someone playing drums. Tim's style flows like a Rolex's second hand, he doesn't "tick". Get'cha groove on son!

  • a little to simple and plain for me guys

  • @humbertobeaner simple and plain in many ways.but awesome flow and groove.the man.

  • Check out his band Laundry... Good stuff

  • isnt this the drums for here come the bastards?

  • @kickdrum100

The first two bars were start or drumtheme for my mname is mud, rest youre right about 'here come the b'stards' :)

  • UNDERATED AS FUCK!!

  • amazing, love primus

  • Amazing the way he runs the tune in his head...

  • anyone know he was a blue man from the act....get ready for it..........blue man group. i think for about 6 months

  • He's totally beautifully creative with his instrument. This stuff is so incredible to experience.

  • For all the Brain-vs-Alexander people out there, try this thought: Have 'Brain' try to play something like this version of 'Bastards', and I guarantee it will come off flat, boring, and lifeless. Then have Tim A. play *anything* on the Brown Album, and I guarantee it will come off with more life and groove than Brain's playing. Brian is technical and skilled, but he has no spirit, no feel to his playing.

  • @christraven agreed...he's very stuck in beats....Herb is light years ahead of him from a musical standpoint

  • @christraven Yeah, it's a real bummer he wasn't on the Brown Album, it's packed full of my fav. zingers... what it would have been.

  • Thats here comes the Bastards! from Seas of Cheeze, one of my top 5 greatest of all time! AWSOme

  • I like him and this video

  • He looks like Ed Kowalczyk

  • @ 3:07--he broke a stick

  • love the odd time signature playing style, I've always liked the feel of 5/4 time.

  • Imagine him and Danny Carey in a room together with their kits. My god... I'd probably pass out.

  • After that I will die quietly...

  • @djkitt I could die happy. Two best drummers in the world.

  • @djkitt wow =))) that would be awesome =))))))

  • @djkitt shit, dude, that will never happen. world would collide because of too high level of awesomeness

  • @djkitt

    id jizz...so much jizz

  • @JLeeMorganJr gallons sir, gallons!

  • 3:08 WTF ? dont understand what appened with drums sticks

  • @maximorel lol one of his tips broke off if you watch closely so he threw the broken one and grabbed a new one

  • damn good drummer he gets in the groove

  • herb is one of the most technical drummers alive, he innovates drums like albert einstein innovated math and physics, i wish i could be half as good as him

  • this reallya drum solo he just playing the song but

    playing likea BEAST

  • I love Tim's wide variety of sounds.

  • @aftermathfool some people are drummers then there is a drummer.tim is one of those DRUMMER

  • Nicely put, I couldn't agree more.

  • 3:06 lol ^^

  • this is "my name is mude" at the begining :p

  • "Mud"

  • lol he lost his stick XP

  • he broke his stick, then keep on playing, then get a new one ;-)

  • is that a ghost at 4:49

  • This is one of my long time favorite drummers. His style and approach on the drums is unlike any drummer i have seen. I can't even combine his sound between other famous drummers either.

  • @einhander2112 you r exactly correct i try to tell people the same thing

  • alexander might not compete with others dynamically, but hes basically the grooviest drummer around. i could see him playing any style of music while others limit themselves to fit in a certain genre.

  • @Abgulu

Clearly you haven't discovered Benny Greb yet!

  • My favorite drummer.

  • such an underrated drummer. he drum circles around most. crazy style. love his use of effects cymbals.

  • Bill Bruford + Steward Copeland + Neil Peart = Tim Alexander

  • Ehhhh, I like Alexander, but no one compares to Bull Bruford, or any King Crimson drummer.

  • So bold yet so true haha

  • Each one of those drums has a voice, and the way they speak to him is amazing. HERB THE GINSENG DRUMMER!!! You're the MAN!!

  • haha stick goes flying at 3:07

  • yeah but do you know why, his tip broke on one of the cymbals at 3:04 you can just barely see it break

  • Indeed, the tip on his right stick breaks at 3:05 and he replaces the stick at 3:07 w/o missing a beat!

  • wow ya the stick fukin broke and he tossed it,,,fukin insane shit!

  • this is basic yet very important drumming from Tim. He uses easy techniques in this video, but stays on time like a metronome. Also, he uses a wide variety of great sounds ie cymbals/drum heads/tuning. He is my drummer idol. He plays everything so chill yet its so technical.

  • Easy?!. May be for him it's easy... Tim is one of those natural born drummers with unmistakable style and touch

  • absolutely astonishing.

I kile the way its all substance and less flash than most drummers. in the pocket.
