  • I'm japanese

I like this song very much

    What's the song name??

  • They Look So Weird! :D

  • haha my hair use to be nearly the exact same as the first picture but my hairs really really long xD

    awesome video :)

  • Great style, five stars from me!

  • OMFG INLOVE WITH THE OUTFIT AT 3:06

  • 0,32 is cute, the rest... are not

  • love the dudes hair at 2:53

  • The music is amazing. I LOVE it. It's so relaxing. Oh, yeah, the Harajuku stuff is cool, too.

    :p

  • the girl at 0:28 reminds me of one of the characters from harajuku i think it was "love".

  • 1:19 and 1:37 to 1:53 are my fav

  • Umm.. I once thought it was a copy, but the 'cute' aspect is original, plus don't girls tend to dye their hair everywhere? These are creative fashions, that's what makes it all so fun.

  • i did´t know that new born german babies have

    blue or green hair @_@

  • are you serious. the uk is known for having some of the best fashions. THEIR ARE LOLITA and harajuku shops in the uk.......look up gothla uk, its a belly dance thing but i know in the area they had it last year their are a few shops and some ofthose dancers know the where abouts

  • wee i am a harajuku girl... and i love living in Asia so bad i moved to Washington..

  • You love Asia... so you moved away? I love Asia... so you moved away? I don't get it!

  • its because my mom was married to my american stepdad so i had to move here -_-

  • Suck... Sorry to hear that. If it makes it any better, I had to move out of Asia cause I was only an exchange student... ;_;

  • they are so creative, I love it!

  • 1:07 is the prettiest ^_^

  • kawaii Harajuku <'3

  • I love how Harajuku is not necessarily a fashion its a place where a bunch of teenagers go and dress as they want, as crazy as they want, and with no ones say so Love it so going to the Harajuku meet here in Brazil next month ^^

  • Sisen is still beat and always will be.

  • yeah, but I think to do it exactly because it's tacky. The point is to be over-the-top. It's sort of a subversive attitude, you know? it's cool.

  • its cool i guess but i if i was to see her i would probably remove em from her forehead haha

  • I like the style attitude (per se) but sometimes it's way too much cloning of vintage 80s punk/new wave/goth rock style. These gals don't know what history and attitude they're wearing. *LOL* Or I'm just too old to understand this. *hahahaha*

  • erm, can anybody tell me the track?

  • im this im that i just LOVE labeling myself!!!

    YAY!

  • love it.

  • im the only lolita i know (cause i live in a boring city in the uk) so id love to go to harijuku to meet some more!!!

    ^_^

  • omg i live in cambridge in the UK and its amazingly boring and dude.....if your a lolita ...in the UK...where do you shop!?!? XD i cant find no shops at all that even sell anything gothic let alone alternative at all or anything else no colourfull things or nothing where i live. Do you shop online? I feel as if im the only alternative dressing kinda colourfull person i know XD

  • limdo video

  • i want to know japan people if some like it my msn is miragesparrow@hotmai...

  • They are minority in Harajuku.

  • the best place in the world !!! I just come back from Tokyo two weeks ago ... I want to come back ... I'm sad ... Anyway thank u for the video ;) it's real ! even if I'm not lolita .. I'm more goth-punk ;)

  • ooooooooh look at the blonde one at 1.37 ish.... hell yes I would :)

  • pervert

  • Umm... that's a cross-dressing guy there by the way!

  • I have a quiz going on that lol

  • @Starfires theres a lot of cross dressing in Japanese street fashion and especially Japanese rock bands it's just whats popular among that

  • thats maria cross.. a guy

  • ... water ,water ,water ! ,lol

  • why is this zoomed in. i dont want to see their faces i want to see their clothes.

  • Well come on, their faces are what makes it all!

  • Actually, fashion isn't all hair and makeup. While it can be considered part of fashion, in most cases, clothes are a bigger part of it.

  • This is true and perhaps my title is a bit misleading. The story is more about the people there, with portraits, then the fashions themselves.

  • I love the girl at 0:41 ^^

  • ME TOOx]

  • I think that the song is a cute house kind of song it really doesn't fiz at all but it sounds ok i really like it xD!

  • Wasn't this video slideshow originally assembled by emoguylover? At least i always thought it was. If you just used the youtube audioswap program and changed the music it is poor form not to credit the original author, unless that is you which in that case i am sorry for my mistake.

  • I am the original author in fact. You can see the original, longer version of 'Harajuku Fashions' on Google Video and check the date- November 2007, by Starfire Productions. You can also see the original photos on my Pbase/ Flickr galleries. I don't blame you for the mistake!

  • Ah, i see then, thank you for being understanding of my mistake. Excellent slideshow, i have watched it a few times from time to time because i enjoyed it very much.

  • No problem:) Just waiting for Ayumi Hamazaki to see it and produce her own version of the song with this as a music video!

  • I think you should have picked more outstanding outfits, cus on many pics the clothes are kinda boring. And the music doesn't fit at all!

  • The music is from the You-tube audio-swap, one of their 'test tube' programs. If someone finds a more suitable piece of music there and if I think it fits, I'll change it. Other than that, get You-tube to include J-Pop tracks there!

  • The song is too sad and slow for the fashions :(

  • I decided I agree- the music should be more mellow and upbeat. Unfortunately, no J-pop is available on the YouTube 'Audio-swap' program. If I use something copywrited, the video will be disabled and all the comments lost. The video is replaceable from my computer- the comments will be lost forever. This happened with the first version.

  • I hope this neutral music is better. Actually, I don't like vocal music for slide-shows so much, as it distracts from the music. Also, these fashions are not really in the 'J-pop' field, being a kind of 'Japanese Gothic', though much more cheerful and child-like than their inspiration ever was. Whether you think that's good, or superficial, only you can decide.

I was never totally happy with the J-Pop versions either. As of now, this is the definitive edit of the Harajuku Fashions slide-show.

  • Also, as of today, one of the photos is on display at Kitamura Gallery, by Shinjuku-Gyoemmae station. Hurry and see it while you can- I'll be there this weekend (Feb 16-17th 2008!)

  • I totally agree with Rokraa

  • for me.... for me la J-ROCK better

  • Wow! I would love to someday go to Tokyo and experience the Harajuku fashions! They look sooo unique. Yes, they do look a bit "whacked up" and all emo. But who cares! thay look wicked!!! hehe thnx for the vid

  • Love the fashion and wicked hair, but what does the some have to do with anything? It sounds like everyone's dead and decaying.

Sorry, that just got on my nerves.

  • Riight, Luffie style, buut.

I hate that the west copies the Japanese fashion. (-.-)

The West destroys the whole point.

These days, people are so.. they don't have fantasy to create their own,OWN style.

    Rater tragic. :F

Sorry, but that's my meaning. 8D

  • I should say that no one person created this fashion- these are variations by people in the 'movement'. Now the world's a smaller place, people can get involved with culture from other countries more and people are learning more of Japan's unique fashions. Many of the people adopt it because it suits their style- 'if the shoe fits, wear it!' But I think people should adapt it their own way.

  • little rokraa,

obviously you don´t know, that every single harajuku style was born in the wild, wild west? (Goth, Punk, rockabllie, hilliebillie, wizzard & celt and even the from the japanese- beloved english -schoolgirl look!)- and so on..!

  • sandfruit..

    1) Saying that "every single" harajuku style is from America is foolish. Thats like saying everything was invented by an American. Your over glorifying the West.

    2) The so-said "Japanese beloved english schoolgirl look" is 100% Japanese. This is even today the set school uniform, because the Japanese dont believe in letting teens reveal themselves, they set a uniform. Thats what Japanese girls are known for. Trust me, I'm from Fukui, Japan. I get enough exposure to it all

  • Im white but I understand the fashion. Just cuase im white doesnt mean i run around in a crappy lolita dress saying KAWAII thinking im amazing. Yes, most people destroy the fashion, but some poeple can pull it off. So dont try and make me feel bad cuase most white ppl are stupd.

  • and to Rokraa

I'm with you 100%. I cannot tell you how many girls in my highschool now dress in tons of jewelry and legwarmers, and call themselves Japanese Harajuku girls. Some preps even started a group where every friday they dress what they call Harajuku. Being a native of Japan, its embarressing to see my culture put down the drain because the Americans wanna claim once again that something is theirs. Its annoying, and a good debate topic, lol. xOxO -- Masahara Mikoto ^O^

  • There's some I like to have they're clothes !

  • I love the Harajuku fashion! I would love to go out their and cosplay someday. ^-^

  • i will be lough if any one try to copy this fashion ..........ahh they were to much make up

that why they face like a ghost !!

  • There is not set Harajuku style. It can be almost anything.

  • Nice pictures n_n ... but... the song Ç-O ???

  • 4:13 is call moon festival ;)

  • funny.

maybe it'll took a long time to wear that clothes.

    XD

  • harajuku fashion is fucking brilliant.vivienne westwood clothes remind me a wee bit of harajuku.i would love to go to tokyo for the experience

  • I'm sorry. Emo resembles nothing of harajuku. Geez. A fashion statement is a fashio statement. I personaly think Harajuku is wongderful. 個人主義 Jeez. What is up with the bashing?! Just pipe down adn don't open your trap. :3

  • well all bashing and e-anger aside, has anyone considered what the "emo" trend sweepin around resembles? hm...id say harajuku. but, imho, and i AM allowed one u know, i think the "emo" trend is a plague....where as this is idk...original. im kool with it. but for some odd reason when i see kids runnin amuk in the states tryin to be like that i just wanna slap some sense into em....but then again, its the catch 22 because they have a freedom to express.....omfg im rambling ok...TIRED! lol

  • harajuku + emo = not anywhere close to the same.

emo stole elements from punk and goth and fucked it all up. you'd think it'd be good, you know, goth and punk, but no.

    boo boo booooo emo.

i really like gothic lolita fashion, especially harajuku style. :D good stuff ^^

  • My idea- we live in a time when we are expected to be tough and business-like. The punks were a reaction to society being hypocritically polite when in fact it was oppressing people, the Goths to superficial material 'happiness' images everywhere. Emo seems to be a choice to play the "I can't cope, life's too hard" card and feel sorry for yourself and everyone, when we are supposed to seem like we don't care. Just an idea of how it came about.

  • maybe emo is more of a reaction to the idea that we're all supposed to be positive and optimistic all the time. Now that's fun for the positve people, but how about the rest of us, can't we just be not positive, that doesn't mean we feel sorry for ourselves!

anyway: love the style (harajuku) but love emo too. Let me:P

  • if i tried to copy a harajuku fashion id end up looking like a complete and utter fool how do the Japanese get away with it? NOT FAIR

  • Harajuku puts the past and most modern style into use, and look awesome and unique at the same time o-o; america is the one behind. We in the us follow the same basic style. the usa should change and we should have an all wide style mix-up spasm

  • Who's stoping us?..... Think about that.

  • yeah most americans try to copy their style.. but cant because japanese are very humble about their style... americans do it for the attention and want eyes on em and.. japanese ppl do it for the style.. its about how u carry urself.. not what u wear..

  • Some truth here, but these Harajuku people do want the attention, it's a kind of subculture here. They do it in a quiet, unassuming way and always thank you if you take their photo. They want attention in a more personal way, it's not 'showing off' what they can do.

  • I love Harajuku fashion!

  • Their style is amazing! WOW!

  • Mmm some pics are not Harajuku... they's lolita, decora, street, D- fashion, xD Punk.... but not all are Harajuku...

  • Truthfully, these were all taken in Harajuku. But even in Harajuku, there are many different fashions and styles, the one I saw the most of being the 'Gothic Lolita' look.

  • I think the song you used was too sad. Harajuku is a pretty happy place.

  • If you search on Google Video, you can see other versions of this, with other songs...

  • harajuku has been my style for a while....I LOVE IT SO MUCH!...i would love to go to japan and go to the harajuku area and to johnvevermann i agree they may be stuck up but they sure look good doing it=)

  • kkcgk

  • i went to japan and went to the harajuku area

they are all SO stuk UP!

they think there all gods gift to the world!

but they look good doing it.

but i would still do any harajuku girl"oh whats that your fug?

mhm thats cool ...still going to bang yea ;)"

  • that may be true bu think about it this way. Japanese mainstream culture norms dictate absolute humility and loyalty to the group. If they are stuck up then it's just another form of rebellion against their homgeneous culture and society.

  • La vidéo est super, le doux chant d'Amy lee s'y ajoute, c'est merveilleux...!

    Arigato !!

  • LOVELY!GREAT JOB!

there're all kinds of beauty on earth, thank you for this video!

    cheers!

  • I'd agree- beautiful girls, fashions and all are as much a real beauty as nature and trees!

  • my friend said harajuku girls are weird, uh..NO!!!! i think most of them are very beautiful!

    anyhoo, nice vid ;)

  • I like them as they are beautiful and set the fashions as they like to, rather than just following them. I'm not so much into fashion myself, but I can appreciate someone putting care into what they do to express themselves and communicate. Luckily for me, they are also happy to be models:)

  • yeah yeah, i agree too, i dont like following fashion at all, although, i wouldnt parade around like the do, hats off to them!

  • 3:24 is a really good pic!

  • omg i wanna go to Japan soooo bad! I am planning to go as soon as i get the chance and im definetely gonna visit the harajuku area!

  • Well the video id amazing but i cannot understand what in the connection with such a depressive song as like you...Still, amazing job!

  • Yeah, I am open to suggestions as to which soundtrack is best. Look around the net and you can still find one of the original versions, with J-Pop music.

  • i love the harajuku fashion im actually making clothing based on that kinda style for my GCSE. love the vid.

  • Pardon my ignorance please, but what is the appropriate way to take pictures of people there? How do you ask people to pose? Is there any kind of custom to it?

    Beautiful photos by the way!

  • If I am very near, I ask them to pose, usually with gestures. But I prefer to take candid shots with a longer zoom lens, to get a natural look. For me, it is a combination of the two- some of these shots involve people posing for others or even one another, seen in the zoom lens. I'm actually pretty shy about asking, but if others are gathered around someone, it's easier (of course, you keep them out of the picture!)

  • hehe i just made "mhh hmm eto..." and then showed them my cam and then they just startet posing... xDDDD

  • they r soo kwl i luv their style its awesum sooo out there

  • I was in Japan this summer, and I loved Harajuku so much. Thanks for putting up this video, it made me happy. :)

  • OMG! @ 3:30 There are THREE Schwein no Isu Shinya cosplayers!! ^3^ I love all the DeG and Jrock cosplays in this! Great compilation!

  • you disgrace harajuku with music that is not rock

  • Sorry to disappoint you. The original version actually has j-pop music, but it was taken down because of the copyright problem. But I'm not sure conventional rock suits this video, with the carefree fashions here, IMHO. Who knows though, with the audioswap, I may well change the music again!

  • I saw a Toshiya cosplayer

  • i cant find any pics of harajuku guys :(

  • this is pretty cool.....i want to go to tokyo,,,i just think theyll all talk to me like I was japanese too....i look asian...lol

  • Thankyou!

    xx

    Daggie

  • No problem:)

  • Hello Starfires!

Its just Im DESPERATE to move to Tokyo but my mum says its very sexist....is this true

    xxx

    DAggie

  • It can be kind of sexist but on the other hand girls are more free to be feminine, without any danger. I don't think they are as sexist with Western girls, either, but there may be something I don't know. I say- if you want to see it, come and see it, just convince your mum it's safe!

  • Daggie,

I lived in Tokyo and go back once in a while, and I still don't see any sexism. Maybe I may be blind but I see the same amount of stereotypes toward sexes in other countries I stay at including New York, Toronto, L. Vegas, and here my home Vancouver, Canada. I can even say that most of the urban areas in Japan makes our western world of North America look 3rd world. But then again this is from what I myself see.

  • Japan has its social problems just like anywhere else. Yeah, there is alot of sexism, but that is such a bogus reason not to live there. Japanese society has racism problems, too. However, as a foreigner living there, you just have to deal with it as best you can.

  • LOL I saw that same guy in harajuku two weeks ago!!!! Did u go to Nudy Boy?? Haha I miss Tokyo (esp. Shibuya and Harajuku) the most!! NIce vid.

  • hey, where did you get those pictures?

    They look so awesome.

    And great video too.

  • I got them straight from my camera- I figured that this might be a good way to share them:) Thanks!

  • かこいいです。

  • i really like the photography in the video. very nice :}

  • damn ! so cool , awesome pictures of harajuku people :D , DAMN , luvs it a lot !

  • Glad you liked it, fashionNbeauty!

  • jpop . hu-> énekesek -> Kuraki Mai -> Multimédia -> Mp3-ak

I hope it helped... But this song is not Feel fine anymore.. o.o But that was soo goood

  • Unfortunately, my other one using J-Pop music (Ayumi Hamazaki) was suddenly taken down, because of a complaint from Avex Tracks. So there was a risk the same would happen to this version, or even that my account would be blocked.

I thought I was actually helping them to promote their music, introducing it to new people, but that isn't the way they felt, plus Youtube has adds here that they generate revenue from (though none of that has gone to me, even though I'm the one making the videos!)

  • Yeah, i understand.... it is so supid.. if there was no mvs and pvs on the youtube i didnt know Arashi or Kuraki Mai or the others... But now im a big fan, and next year when i go to japan, i will buy a lot of CDs... Umm....where did you get these photos?

  • Oh they are all legitimately mine! I took them in Harajuku of all the cool people there.

  • Thats great! Are you Japanese? Next schoolyear i am going to go to Tokyo as an exchange student and i cant wait to see the harajuku *.*

  • Actually, I'm from England, but I've lived here for over 10 years now. If you liked those pictures, you will love Harajuku!

  • Good job です!

  • They are actually more kawaii than kwai- some of them were even having a mini-birthday party there! I made this one to show the more genki side of the cosplaying... the other video has music to show they are finding a chance to break free from the normal life.

  • This song is from mai kuraki (i believe)... itis remixed but i love it! :D Hm, harajuku cosplayers are scary i think. But i want to be one of them just for one day. ^^

  • Oh nvm my gosh im so stupid....it says right on your little info thing...*smacks forehead*

  • Is the name of this song really Feel Fine?..Cause i looked on limewire for it...and it hasn't come up yet...if you could give me info on where to get it or who sings it that would be great!^.^

  • omg it's so cute nice job I love it..
