I hear you sir but that point is pointing out a very high ignorance, that on some may call stupid, No insult intending this is just a point of reference. If i saw heard anyone play anything that I have never considered as a musical instrument. I guess I would point out how remarkable that person was.

However I feel the person commenting has heard pan music, knows people play pan as an instrument but never made the real connection.

It is common scene, a musical instrument is to play music with and create music what have you to do with music an instrument is there for. THE STEEL DRUM/PAN IS IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD AN INSTRUMENT.
