@yokinee1 Products I use... Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Cream and Extra virgin olive oil. I wouldn't say these products are the main reason for my growth, but they are my go to products, and are great for keeping my hair moisturized and healthy. :)

How often do you use protective styles or wear it up?

I twist mine & untwist it the next day or within three days max if I get a good break from work lol mainly because I don't really like wearing my hair back...but I think my hair is growing kinda slow : \. Do u think it's cuz I'm always styling it? My one year anniversary was March 2011. If I stretch my hair it touches my collar bone & while curly its just at the top of my shoulders.

@21SayWhat21 It sounds like you have a great length for one year. I transitioned for almost 8 months, so I would say that puts me a little ahead. How long did you transition? Sometimes we think our hair is growing slow, when it's really growing exactly the way it should. I bet your hair is nice and healthy and you will hit your hair goals. :)

@aliciajamesmusic I transitioned for exactly 8 months & my natural hair was about an inch below my ears & permed hair was down to my collar bone then I cut the remaining length off plus an extra inch from the damage of trying to groom 2 different hair textures, possibility for split ends & such. Maybe I'm just impatient but a week ago I finally did my FIRST protective style since the decision to go natural. I didn't want my hair rubbing my coat this winter so I have large "micro" braids lol =]

@keniegyrl LOL! It's okay! The products I am currently using are: Extra virgin olive oil, cantu shea butter, and Herbal Essence shampoo and conditioner. This is all I use on my hair. It's not all about products, it's the way you use them and also the way you treat your hair. It's hard to break it down, I suggest going to my channel and checking out my regimen videos. It will tell you step by step what I do! Would be alot to type! LOL! Good luck! :)

I think what really helped my growth was being more gentle with my hair, protective styling and having a simple regimen! :) Good luck!

There are some people that say that our hair grows slower than other people. But I don't agree with that, It's true that we retain less because of how we treat our hair, but when it comes to hair growth, it can grow just as fast as other people. My hair grows in spurts, and it seems so does yours. I can easily grow over 1.5 inches in less than one month, and i've done it, You hair looks like it does the same thing. Your hair's gorgeous.

@jacienz I think studies have shown our hair does *on average* grow a bit slower. But it doesn't really matter because the real problem for most black women is retention, not growth, i.e. the hair grows but it gets broken off because they don't know how to treat our fragile coily hair. Alicia is retaining her length because of moisturising and protective styling.

I did the big chop three months ago and my hair is super thick and I didn't know how course it was until I cut all the perm out. Its encouraging to know that my hair may grow longer.
