I really have to agree with you, in terms of the statue and the icon. They seem a bit out of Mama Freda's realm. I, like you, will stand to be corrected as I'm not a Houngan, yet... : ) But, I will say that when Erzuli is being served some minor details will be forgiven. If you serve Mama Freda from a pure heart and an open mind, she will teach you the ways of Erzuli...

I agree with you, but at that moment I didn't possess a mater dolorosa statue.
It was important to be done, so I had to took the best alternative I could get.
Even it wasn't a real ritual to gain something, but an offering to the lwa.
In a while I'll finish my website and you'll see traditional offerings to the lwa.
I don't just serve the lwa in haitian symbolism, but also the catholic pendants, like mater dolorosa for erzulie.
