I just bought 4 Matt Finish albums & I can't wait to have a relaxing Saturday morning in bed with Matt Finish blaring out of my CD stacker just pure magic.
Rest In Peace Matt. Gotta love this band. The bass line, the unmistakeable voice of Matt Moffitt...so Australian, so cool. As an ex-pat Aussie living in LA these days, I miss going to see a great pub band like this one. Last time I saw this band was at the Intersection nitespot, Ramsgate Sydney, early '90s.
Why the fuck do we need Pete Townsend's fucking approval??
It's the same old bullshit AUSSIE cultural cringe, WE DON'T NEED THE FUCKING APPROVAL OF THE REST OF THE FUCKIN' PLANET!!
Do we need to prove it to ourselves. I've seen the days of the Bondi Lifesaver Selinas blah blah blah and our bands have NOTHING to prove, they kicked arse!
mind you the youngsters are draggin' the chain nowdays or am i just gettin' old? Tell me.
I havent seen a Matt Finish gig since Matt Moffitt. Im gonna go and check them out at Balmain or Heathcote in August. I remember seeing MM in 1981, I was 14, then saw them a few times in the nineties. They always sounded great, but it was the voice of Moffitt that hooked me in. He had that distinct sound, you can never forget it.
Dose anyone know where I can get this song it's not on the Short Note album which I have listening to this morning, I totally agree with F4UNick this song is totally UNFUCKENBELIEVABLE This song makes me want to get into a car & cruise the highways. Matt you may have passed on but you are still here with killer music like this MAY YOU FOREVER REST IN PIECE.
Matt Moffitt, songwriter and founder and lead singer of the rock band Matt Finish, has died in Sydney in his sleep, apparently from a stroke, at the age of 46.
Matt spent much of his childhood in Glenbrook in the Blue Mountains of NSW.
Unfuckingbelievable Have To Agrea With dooveelacker Avter hearing this I Had to Go To Your Web Site And Buy The DVD i Loved This Band in my young days Thanks :)
The track 'Fade Away' takes me back to the Amadale Hotel (Melbourne) 1981, drenched in sweat, half tanked and wired listening to Matt Finish pump out some of the most powerful rock songs I'd ever heard ..... There was an immediate addiction!
I guess the term 'Unfuckingbelievable ' gave it away ? or do you know some Germans who also use this term :-)
No, Matt Finish were not so well know in Europe (never toured there as far as I know) BUT, Pete Townsend of the Who thought the Short Note album was fantastic....
How good is the sound and quality of the recording. It looks like it's in high definition but was recorded in 1981!!!
I first saw Matt and the boys at Parramatta Park around this time, at a gig billed as the last 2JJ concert. After they got through Laymans Day, Mancini Shuffle and Short Note i was blown away.
My band gigged with these guys in 80 and 81 and they were such an inspiration. Such a great period in Australian rock music. Long live Matt Finish. x
