In fact, while 0-60 is in no way an ultimate measurement of "fastness," to me a half second difference between the CTS-V and RS6 isn't something to ignore, especially when the RS6 has twice as many wheels putting the power to the road. Anyway, I like both and would take either over a California :)

Interesting to note that Top Gear was reclassified in the US as 'Entertainment' and not as a 'Factual' show. This should tell you all you need to know about Top Gear. Good show on both sides of the pond, but not exactly what you would call strictly truthful on all counts. Just like the news channels. ;)

@moizmajid Havnt watched the vid yet ( well to that part anyway ) but often when they do challenges like this, the cars arent legaly roadworthy or they have crap hanging off them ( like when they had to haul all that manure) so they get police escourts for saftey as well as making sure they dont get arrested for breaking all kinds of road rules. This way they can call it " Controlled conditions" and crap like that. Top Gear UK does the same thing.
@Proudrebel7 I hate to say the SRT-8 is slower than the CTS-V. However I do agree I thing the magnum is the better wagon. FYI they are bringing the magnum back into production in around 2013 :)
WHY do people watch this, then spend the entire time bashing and picking it apart. If you don't enjoy it, don't watch it! It's supposed to be entertaining, so of course they edit it to make it so. Quit over analyzing the whole thing and just watch it for what it is. An entertaining car show. People remind me of those that watch wrestling every week and go, it's so fake!! @StylowArts Actually it does have the LS9 and the corresponding Tremec TR6060 manual transmission. That's the same powertrain in a ZR1. The only possible difference is that the CTS-V has different headers, but not by much.
@xo45thvols1 Actually the CTS-V uses the LSA not the LS9. LSA uses a 1.9 TVS blower vs the 2.3 TVS in the LS9, different cam, heads, engine internals, and exhaust, and there are a few other differences. About the only thing the LS9 and LSA share is the block.
@GMisurdaddy- Okay. I thought that the horsepower sounded a little short for a true LS9. Still, that's an awesome thing to have when launching off the line.

@abacacus They are, but you can unlimit them. At least in Germany...idk what about the US, but here you can get the "AMG Performance Package" and the "AMG Drivers Package" wich gives you about 190 Mph, 100 Nm and about 30 HP more. The sedan gets to 60 mph in about 4,3 seconds. The CTS-V Wagon is faster, but i would rather pick the Merc up, because you can drive it with about 25 mpg...would like to see a CTS-V do that ;) Oh and it has a bigger boot/trunk...but thats nitpicking :D

As far as the gas mileage goes, you'd be surprised. My uncle drives one of the older CTS-V's and gets great mileage. The engine doesn't have to work very hard around town. When he's in a hurry though he says he might get 5 MPG...
@abacacus they are stock, because it's in the options list and AMG is a part of Mercedes today. You can just make that cross and you'll get those options directly from the factory.
See, if you're in a hurry with the AMG, you'll get at least 10 MPG ;-) But if i had to choose between one of them for real...i would choose both :D
@NFreund AMG might be part of Mercedes, but I believe it's still separate. It's like Chryslers SRT, where they help with ALL models, AMG take what Mercedes have done then modify it. Kind of like Roush and Steeda with the Mustang, you can order one from a Ford lot but they aren't stock cars.
For me, it would have to be the Caddy. I love American cars, always have. I love the simpleness. engine, seat, ass.
@NFreund I don't believe that is the case. The CTS is built on the RWD Sigma II platform which is exclusive to Cadillac. I think the Australians designed sigma, not the Germans. The Insignia rides on the Epsilon II which is built for FWD and AWD. I don't work for any car manufactures, this is all second hand knowledge so if you know something I don't please enlighten me.

So, the Cadillac, 556 bhp from a super-chatged V8 engine, and 0-60 in 4 seconds.
Now the SLS, 563 bhp from a naturally aspirated V8, and 0-60 in 3.4 seconds.
I think it is clear now that the lap time that car did is fake, that, or the lap the SLS did is fake and it was actually faster.

Isnt the Audi wagon quicker? It's got a lambo v10 in it, i know it would at least give this one a run for it's money if not beat it. Ahwell i guess the show is target for u.s audiences. I saw NFreund say its a vauxhall/opel , much the same as the pontiac , g8 is an aussie car. Still it's all GM so share the wealth and call it whatever u want imo. So long as decent cars make their way to you guys in the states it's all good. Bout time ;)

@moizmajid Havnt watched the vid yet ( well to that part anyway ) but often when they do challenges like this, the cars arent legaly roadworthy or they have crap hanging off them ( like when they had to haul all that manure) so they get police escourts for saftey as well as making sure they dont get arrested for breaking all kinds of road rules. This way they can call it " Controlled conditions" and crap like that. Top Gear UK does the same thing.

@Proudrebel7 I hate to say the SRT-8 is slower than the CTS-V. However I do agree I thing the magnum is the better wagon. FYI they are bringing the magnum back into production in around 2013 :)

WHY do people watch this, then spend the entire time bashing and picking it apart. If you don't enjoy it, don't watch it! It's supposed to be entertaining, so of course they edit it to make it so. Quit over analyzing the whole thing and just watch it for what it is. An entertaining car show. People remind me of those that watch wrestling every week and go, it's so fake!! @StylowArts Actually it does have the LS9 and the corresponding Tremec TR6060 manual transmission. That's the same powertrain in a ZR1. The only possible difference is that the CTS-V has different headers, but not by much.

@xo45thvols1 Actually the CTS-V uses the LSA not the LS9. LSA uses a 1.9 TVS blower vs the 2.3 TVS in the LS9, different cam, heads, engine internals, and exhaust, and there are a few other differences. About the only thing the LS9 and LSA share is the block.

@ka128183 I tend to disagree with your findings there. Hammond in the Marauder was more entertaining for me. The sport train episode, pure entertainment imho. I despise hatchbacks in all forms, they're stupid.
While TGusa is definitely getting better and improving,but TGuk has 17 seasons completed and it shows in pure professionalism throughout. (no I'm not a euro, I'm a simple American gear-head)

@abacacus They are, but you can unlimit them. At least in Germany...idk what about the US, but here you can get the "AMG Performance Package" and the "AMG Drivers Package" wich gives you about 190 Mph, 100 Nm and about 30 HP more. The sedan gets to 60 mph in about 4,3 seconds. The CTS-V Wagon is faster, but i would rather pick the Merc up, because you can drive it with about 25 mpg...would like to see a CTS-V do that ;) Oh and it has a bigger boot/trunk...but thats nitpicking :D

As far as the gas mileage goes, you'd be surprised. My uncle drives one of the older CTS-V's and gets great mileage. The engine doesn't have to work very hard around town. When he's in a hurry though he says he might get 5 MPG...

@abacacus they are stock, because it's in the options list and AMG is a part of Mercedes today. You can just make that cross and you'll get those options directly from the factory.
See, if you're in a hurry with the AMG, you'll get at least 10 MPG ;-) But if i had to choose between one of them for real...i would choose both :D

@NFreund AMG might be part of Mercedes, but I believe it's still separate. It's like Chryslers SRT, where they help with ALL models, AMG take what Mercedes have done then modify it. Kind of like Roush and Steeda with the Mustang, you can order one from a Ford lot but they aren't stock cars.
For me, it would have to be the Caddy. I love American cars, always have. I love the simpleness. engine, seat, ass.

@NFreund I don't believe that is the case. The CTS is built on the RWD Sigma II platform which is exclusive to Cadillac. I think the Australians designed sigma, not the Germans. The Insignia rides on the Epsilon II which is built for FWD and AWD. I don't work for any car manufactures, this is all second hand knowledge so if you know something I don't please enlighten me.

That race between the Cadi and the ferrari was utter shit. One, take a proper ferrari like the 40, two, actually race the two of them properly. 4 seconds to 60 and a top speed of 175 is slow, just plain slow in the world of the exotic car.
