  • ACPI:System State [S0 S3 S4 S5] (S3) stuck in verbos mod plz halp?

  • @sn0le D: thats sad... i have never heard of anyone doing hackintosh on my model.. is there any kext for broadcom bcm43225?

  • @ahzhang02:

Are you sure it is 43225?

I found some threads on insanelymac that showed how to get Broadcom 4325 to work in OSX.

  • hey dude? i really need help, my pc is like dead now, ok, err.. i have a broadcom bcm43225 how do i enable my wifi?

i have a ati raedeon 4250 HD, how to enable QE/CI?

how do i enable trackpad/keyboard/battery icon? (i have a acer aspire 4552 laptop)

    thanks :D

  • @ahzhang02:

Sorry. Laptops are usually too much trouble to get working, so I've never bothered to hackintosh one.

Your only hope is to find someone who has successfully managed to install OSX on the same model that you have.

  • Do you have any audio kexts for: Gigabyte: GA-P43T-ES3G

Hope you can help! :) I have been trying to get sound to work for months now I have found 1 driver that made it so I can talk into the microphone I could here myself but I could not get sound to play as in youtube and music... I went to system pref and switched it to outgoing and all that stuff still didn't work. Hope you can help me out! :)

  • @level99fisher Yeah I have the same mothboard as you and I have the same problem.

  • @level99fisher:

GA-P43T-ES3G rev1.0 use the Realtek ALC888 audio chip.

GA-P43T-ES3G rev1.3 use the Realtek ALC888/892 audio chip.

    Which revision do you have?

  • @sn0le I have 892 audio chip and thanks for the fast response :) Do you know where to get that kext from?

  • My ati radeon 4650 is not listed. Kext didnt work either please help

  • @ItzRandy510:

If you check out InsanelyMac forum, in the ATi section, there are several threads that has info on how to get that gfx-card working properly.

  • So how is it that you make a dualboot install, I mean, to install Windows you need the partition to be MBR, while on OSX, the partition has to be GPT. OSX won't install on MBR nor Windows will install on GPT. So the question is, how the heck people manage to get this working?

P.S. I know its easy to do when you have two separate hard drives, but I make this question because I want to make it work on a single HDD. Your reply would definitely get me out of doubts :D

  • @daftsapien:

I got a few videos about dualbooting OSX and Windows.

I prefer using separate HDDs because it is simpler.

It is possible to get both OS running from a single HDD, but I havent tried it my self.

  • Will a Hackintosh user be able to sign up as a developer at the Apple site? Will the developer SDK function on a hacked computer? Sorry for the question in advance. Any information on this would be helpful.

  • @londog2010:

There's plenty of people that have used a Hackintosh to develop iOS apps with the SDK for iOS.

But theres no way of knowing if Apple will introduce some kind of mechanism to make it hard and/or impossible to use a Hackintosh with their SDKs.

  • Dude, I have a GA-73PVM-S2H (Has the same Audio chip), i followed your guide and installed the AppleHDA.kext + HDAEnabler.kext, no success,

I had to go back into the audio folder > Repositories and install the extra ALC889a.kext that is in there

  • SnOle, sorry to have bothered you with my silly(?) question. I simply connected the windows folder with stuff you indicated to SL and all works fine.

Best regards and good luck, Rein

  • @rvreijsen1:

No worries, it didn't bother me. I just haven't had the time to reply.

I'll reply to it so that other viewers of this video and wonder about the same thing can see it.

    Enjoy OSX. :)

  • SnOle, being a dummy w.r.t. Mac, can you please explain how to transfer the contains of the OSX folder from Windows to Mac.

Once i collected the stuff with Windows, can i simply put it on e.g. a CD which can be read by Mac? Or do i have to format this CD with e.g. Transmac to get a proper media for OSX 10.6.7?

I hope to have explained my question well enough. All refers to a supposed conversion from Windows to OSX.

Many thanks again, Rein (The Netherlands)

  • @rvreijsen1:

Sorry for the late answer Rein.

If you have files on a Windows computer and need to get them to a computer running OSX you can do the following:

    - Burn the files to a Data CD or DVD.

    - Put the files on a USB memorystick. They often use FAT32 and both Windows and OSX can read and write to FAT32.

    - Put the files on an external drive. Most Windows users will have their drive formatted in NTFS, and OSX can read from (but not write to) a NTFS-formatted harddrive.

  • Well snOle, i followed your fantastic guide carefully. All of a sudden, in the beginning of part 6, i see in the right upper corner -OSX- , which apparently includes many goodies. I struggle with the question where this OSX is coming from since my screen doesn't show it.

    Many thanks, Rein

  • @rvreijsen1:

Ah, now I get it. :)

Thats just a folder where I put the files needed to install kexts for Ethernet and Audio.

The folder also contained some DMG's with files I tested before I made these videos.

Many of them are kexts that didn't work etc etc.

All you need is OSx86Tools, Kext Utility and LAN + Audio Kexts.

If you want to use iStat Menus to monitor CPU-temps you'll also need the special version of fakeSMC.kext

    Good luck! :)

  • Dear snOle,

i do not understand how you get the OSX folder in the post-installation screen to work from there on. I have downloaded OSX86Tools via Windows but need to know how to connect to the Hackintosh installation.

    Thanks in advance

  • @rvreijsen1:

I'm not sure what you mean.

Could you explain a little bit more?

  • THANKS MAN!!! YOU ARE MY HERO!!! I SOLVED THE AUDIO ISSUE ON MY HACKINTOSH WITH YOUR HELP! THAAAAAAAAAAANKS!!!!! *****

  • @uxm2009:

    Glad to hear that.

I just went through my PM's and comments from the last week and answered your PM.

Your motherboard has the same Audio Chip as mine, so using the kexts I provided links for should work with your motherboard.

I assume this is what you did? :)

  • @sn0le

Yeah that's correct. I used the kexts you provided to your video. Thanks again! My hackintosh runs like a dream now!.. :)

  • @uxm2009:

    Sweet! :)

  • Hello friend,

Thank you for all of the wonderful info. I am going to start building a hackintosh for parents in the next few weeks because their computer is so outdated. I would like to build them a machine that will not be outdated so quickly. Can you please refer me to a link that has info and the parts list for building a cutting edge system with a

4.38 Ghz processor. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work my friend!

  • @Kederalath:

Check out this video. He seems to be running Sandy Bridge and overclocked his CPU to around 4.5GHz.

    /watch?v=3YoA-mGrW1Q

  • Can you use that EFI string tool on a nVidia 4xx card?

  • @dathtom:

I doubt it. I haven't tested it my self.

But from what I read on Insanelymac forum and TonyMacx86 forum you need something else than just a EFI-string.

I see that some GTX460 owners used a Nvidia driver for Quadro cards (OSX driver).

For other cards I think you need to use a Fermi-compatible bootloader.

    I don't know for sure, since I haven't tested GTX4xx cards.

  • where can i download all this stuff? if i try to install anything other than the ps2 driver, seatbelt fix, voodoo kernel, and the smbios ddr3 fix it will fail on the reboot. basically i can't install the drivers for sound, ethernet, or video.

  • @666lilnickY:

If you mean the files I show in the video, the links are in the description box of the video.

What are those things you mention, and why do you need it?

I've never heard of those things. :)

  • @sn0le the the ps2 driver is for my ps2 keyboard, and the seatbelt fix and smbios fix are to stop kernel panic.

  • @sn0le

Do u know if there is a guide for the Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3 LGA 1366 mobo?

  • @randyme1979:

    I've never checked for one.

My guide should work, except that you may need different kexts for audio and LAN.

The GA-X58-USB3 uses Realtek ALC892 for audio while mine uses Realtek ALC889A.

And it uses Realtek RTL8111E for LAN while mine used Realtek RLT8111D.

  • i have an asus motherboard will this work and if not how do i get it to work thx ur vids are awsome!!

  • @1337scoot:

What model of Asus motherboard do you have? Some work and some don't.

  • @sn0le i have an asus P5P43TD

  • @1337scoot:

Insanelymac has a forumthread that is a guide on how to install OSX on a Asus P5P43TD Pro.

The Asus P5P43TD and P5P43TD Pro both use Realtek ALC887 for Audio and Atheros GB LAN.

So I think that your motherboard should work.

  • I have an ATI 5770, and there's nothing i can choose from in the OSx86 tools :S

    Help plz

  • @v4trogaSci:

Go to Insanelymac. They have a forum.

In the forum they have a section for hardware.

And in that section is a subsection for videocards.

There is a section for ATI videocards.

There you should find all the relevant info to get your 5770 working.

  • What version of the OS X are you running, and i have a AMD Phenom x4 64bit....will it would using ur method?

    Thanks, and great tutorial!

  • If i use MenuMeters instead of istat menus, is it good to go too?

  • @tpclhk:

    I don't know. I haven't tried it.

It should work, you should test it. :)

  • @sn0le Thanks =P

  • @tpclhk:

    No problem. :)

  • Comment removed

  • Will Empire EFI utility work with Leopard? Also can I run Windows and Linux on it?

  • @cgillyard:

    Did you mean Kext Utility?

You can dualboot and tripleboot the computer.

  • @sn0le Just curious if it's possible to run multiple OS on one system. Thanks.

  • @cgillyard:

Running multiple OS'es is possible. Just like it would be if you wanted to run Linux and Windows.

    No difference.

    :)

  • ite like 6 different bio update on gigabyte website which one should i down load??

  • do i have to update my bios? am scared lol

  • @HOTROD256969:

You don't have to upgrade the BIOS if everything works.

I only updated mine because the smart-fan speedadjusting of the CPU-fan was buggy in the BIOS version that was on my motherboard.

I usually don't upgrade the BIOS unless I really need to.

Like to get support for newer CPU, get rid of bugs etc.

  • i love your videos !!!

its thanksgiving week here in the US.. i will be buying lots of har ware..

Apple SL 10.6.3 ( new version)

    Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R

    Intel® Core™ i7 950 Processor

    3GB DDR3 1333MHz TRI CHANNEL KIT

and my budget for the video card is only $150.

    any tips guys.

  • Hi There! First of, sorry about my english!

I only installed my hackintosh thanks to you!! You did a very explained tutorial...

But I got some things that I couldn't solve...

Such as my trackpad, wich doesn't works...

It worked untill the installation of myhack!

Then, when the system restarted, it works no longer! I'm using a Notebook HP Pavilion dv9000... I tried to use a Usb Mouse, but non succesfully... Could you help me, please?!

  • hey i deleted the hpet kext i dont know if thats the cause of my problem but now i can only hear youtube videos but the video is black, plus i cant see twitter widgets or streaming media on some other sites, i am running iatkos 10.5.8 on dell studio 1535, i reinstalled the kext but didnt work, can anyone help?

  • can you just quickly tell me how you change the hd"s to different controllers,, also snole i am getting the same problem before, when i boot into osx, i get the bootloader, i chose Mac Hd, and i get stuck at the apple logo, i thought it was that ahci was turned off but its on, the only way i get into osx is by the boot cd(efi), Thank you very much for your help man, snole is the man

  • @24hyatt:

You move the SATA cable for that drive.

On my motherboard I have 10x SATAs.

6 of them are blue, which is on the Intel controller. They will work in OSX and Windows.

4 of them are white/grey, and they are on a JMicron controller. They will work in Windows.

So the logical thing would be to have the OSX HDD on a blue port, and the Windows HDD on a grey port.

Remember to turn off AHCI for the 2nd SATA-controller.

  • @sn0le im really sorry for bothering you this much man but im still not getting it, i did exactly as you said, i put my windows hd on jmicron(gray) and made sure it was in ide, and left sl, on intel controller(blue)made sure it was ahci, i left my other 2 drives on intelcontroller too, i can now get into windows but im having the same problem from the begining, when i boot into sl, i get chameleon bootlader i choose mac and i get stuck at the apple logo with the thing spining, we have same specs

  • @24hyatt:

    Do you have a GA-EX58-UD5 or a GA-X58A-UD5?

I see that you have 8GB of RAM.

    is it 4x2GB?

If so, try using only 2GB.

If that works, try using 6GB in triple channel.

Check the manual of the motherboard to see what memory slots to use.

If you still don't get it working, you should try installING OSX again.

And if you have a GA-X58A-UD5 you might need other kexts and newer myHack.

  • @sn0le i have ex58, same one you have(older model), i tried everything man but i cant get osx to boot,( i did the ram process but still didnt boot, and i tried enabling ahci but that screwed up my windows and no longer boots) i guess im going to start from the beginning and reinstall windows with ahci turned on and put windowss 7 and osx on same harddrive because from my readings it sounds alot more easier, do you reccomeend me doing this process,,, thanks snole, any help would be apreciated man

  • @24hyatt :

If you enabled AHCI on the Intel controller (blue port) it shouldn't affect the Windows HDD since it is on the JMicron Controller (grey port).

PS: They have separate settings for IDE-mode and AHCI-mode

I don't recommend Windows and OSX on the same HDD.

as far as I know you need a modified kernel for OSX to make it run on a HDD with MBR partition table.

    OSX needs GUID partition table.

It is possible to do what you want to do, but it is in no way a simple task.

  • @sn0le o okay, but do you kno why my osx keeps getting stuck at the apple boot logo, i mean it worker like 5 times before but now it doesnt, i tired with only 2 ggis of ram and still dint work

  • @sn0le also,,, i think i kno what maybe the prblem, do you know the custmize part when installing osx, where you select what to install like the (not) detailed kexts, i skipped that, could that be why i cant boot

  • @24hyatt:

If you're using a retail Snow Leopard DVD you won't need to make any costomization.

I only did it to take away all the languages I didn't need.

  • hi sn0le, you rock! thanks so much for the patiance you made yr tutorial with, it was the one which got my hack working.

may i ask one question. what can i do if osx86 tools utility gives me the message "can't get property list item "kernel" of property list" when trying to add efi string. tried to google it but coudlnt find an answer.

  • @vornehintenlinks:

Thanks for your kind words. :)

It could be a number of things.

    What Videocard do you have?

Have you installed any kexts prior to using OSx86 Tools to generate an EFI-string?

  • snole,, at the part where you type your gpu in i get confused, because when i click apply changes it pops up with a applescript error, what do i do

  • @24hyatt:

What kind of GPU do you have?

  • @sn0le yea man i have a 9800 gtx+ ud5 mobo, 8gb corsair ram,,, i mean i do exactly as you say but the the script error keeps popping up

  • @24hyatt:

If you have 2 or 3 PCI-express slots the videocard will fit into, try moving the card to another slot.

It could also be that you have one or more kexts for the videocard already installed before you try to generate EFI-string.

Remove any kexts you may have for the videocard.

If you haven't installed any kexts, and you still can't generate EFI-string you could try installing NVinject (kext for Nvidia's).

    It should also work.

But try different PCI-express slots first.

  • @sn0le okay cool but how do you remove any kexts , like where are they stored

  • @24hyatt:

    Kexts are usually in S/L/E.

    Thats short for System/Library/Extensions.

Kext stands for Kernel Extension, so thats why they are in the Extentions folder.

If you remove any kexts you need to repair permissions.

Either manually with Disk Utility or simply run Kext Utility and it will repair disk permissions for you.

  • @sn0le @sn0le okay, but i have another problem, i cant boot into osx unless i boot with empire efi cd, i got into osx and installed myhack took out empire efi and rebooted, even did the same with chameleon bootloader, any ideas why, when i boot it gives me windows 7 option and nst mac osx, i choose mac hd and computer shutsdowns immeaditley

  • @24hyatt:

So it boots fine into OSX when you boot from the Empire EFI CD, but not when booting from the HDD?

"even did the same with chameleon bootloader"

    Did what?

  • @sn0le yes correct^, but please do note that i have a seperate hd for windows and a seperate drive for osx,,, do i have to change the bios Hd order

  • @24hyatt:

If you want to dualboot you either use Chameleons boot menu, or you use your motherboards F12 boot meny.

I showed how to do that in my dualboot videos.

If your Windows HDD is second boot device (CD or DVD is first), that would be the reason that you can't boot OSX.

  • @sn0le aright i got hackintosh all set up including kexts and stuff but i still dont know how to dual boot, the only way i can get back into windows 7 is by changing ahci back to normal, and when i want to boot into sl, i have to choose the hard drive manually, do i have do this manual boot everytime, how do i install a boot loader, please help me out man

  • @24hyatt:

Thats because you probably installed Windows with AHCI turned off.

You have a couple of choices:

    1. Reinstall Windows with AHCI turned on.

    2. Hack Windows so that it supports AHCI without reinstalling the OS.

    3. Put the Windows HDD on another SATA-controller that runs in IDE-mode.

When you boot from the SL drive, don't you get a bootloader with options to boot from OSX or Windows?

  • @sn0le yea i had installed windows7 couple months ago with ahci turned off,yes i do get a boot option from sl drive but when i click on w7 it turns off,,,of the choices you gave me which one do you think is the easiest.............................i also do get another problem sometimes, when im booting i get stuck at the apple logo and the little symbol loading, doesnt boot, did i not do something in the bios, ahci is definetley turned on

  • @24hyatt:

Have you watched my 3 videos about dualbooting a hackintosh?

Of the 3 choices I gave you, the easiest for you is to put the OSX HDD on the Intel SATA-controller (which runs in AHCI-mode) and put the W7 HDD on the second SATA-controller (which runs in IDE-mode).

Reinstalling W7 will take time, and hacking the registry of W7 to make it run on a SATA-controller in AHCI-mode without reinstalling W7 may cause problems.

Don't know about the 2nd problem. Haven't experienced it my self.

  • hey man i have a laptop i don't find my network driver mi laptop is a toshiaba satellite a305-sp6906r

  • @chacalo4:

Sorry, I can't help you. Installing OSX on laptops can be very difficult, so I've never even bothered to try it.

You should find out what chipset/chip that the Toshiba uses, and search for kexts for that particular type of chip.

  • One Question: do you know if you can use the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 on a Hackintosh? if not could you recommend a very powerful graphics card which will :D

    thanks.

BTW: is it possible to run Boot-camp without any problems after doing everything which you just did in this video? :P

  • @suuunly:

I don't know about the videocard. You should check Insanelymac.

They have a whole section of the forum dedicated to discussion about Nvidia and ATI videocards in Hackintoshes.

Why run bootcamp? Windows runs natively on a PC. Just watch my dualboot videos.

  • @suuunly you can use the gtx 285.

  • These tutorials were a great help. Thank you so much.

I already had Win 7 existing and installed SL on a slave drive. I had to install easybcd to even get to see the mac osx boot option. But the only problem is when I try to select mac osx to boot it seems as if it is about to boot but it just reboots. Win 7 boots fine.

    Any ideas? thank a bunch!

  • @rafi1313:

Slave drive, as in IDE and not SATA?

If so, you need to use a SATA HDD for OSX.

  • @sn0le

Sorry, I should have clarified. Both HDDs are SATA and my Asrock H55M-LE mobo is running AHCI.

  • @rafi1313:

    Hmmm... Thats weird.

Your motherboard uses a Intel H55 chipset and not a X58 chipset.

So it might be that you need a different version of Empire EFI or a different bootloader.

Your best option is to try to find a guide that is specific to your motherboard or similar motherboard,

Did you check Insanelymac and see if they have any threads about that motherboard?

  • i have a dell xps 435t do you think it will be hard to convert it into ihack pro.

  • @ArmandoCruzMusic:

    watch?v=34CcOtOCPHU

    It should be possible.

I also checked insanelymac and searched for "XPS 435" and found several threads about the Dell XPS 435 and similar systems.

They even have a installation guide.

How hard it is compared to my install is hard for me to say.

I'd guess Dell uses their own kind of motheboard.

But it all boils down to the chipset, which most likely is Intel X58.

iMac's use that chipset, and thats why many i7 PC motherboards are OSX compatible,

  • @sn0le MY APPLICATIONS OR WINDOWS FOLDER SAYS X86 ON IT, SO I'M THINKING IT'S X86 CHIPSET. ALSO CAN I USE LOGIC, FINAL CUT AND PROTOOLS ON IT? DO YOU THINK IT'S WORTH TURNING IT INTO A HACKINTOSH NOW OR SHOULD I WAIT TILL THINGS GET MORE STABLE. MY HUMBLE OPINION IS THERE SHOULD BE A VIDEO SHOWING HOW TOO INSTALL ON A DELL XPS 435 AND OTHER SYSTEMS. I KNOW I'M SHOOTING FOR THE STAR, BUT THATS ALL I HAVE.

  • @ArmandoCruzMusic:

x86 is not the chipset. It just means that you're running 32-bit Windows.

If you were running 64-bit Windows it would probably say x64.

You can run any program on a Hackintosh, so you should be able to run the programs you asked for.

  • Ya this is the best Tutorial I've seen!!!

    Very nice job!!

  • @AwesomeSlayer2010:

Not sure. AMD is hard to get working. Sometimes impossible.

  • 2 questions:

With this are you able to run garageband?

    How much does this cost?

  • @crazybassman101:

Yep. Garageband will work. I don't use it, but I do have iLife 09 so I have tried it to see what it is.

    The cost would be the computer ($?) + OSX ($29) + iLife 09 ($79).

  • All 6 parts excellent. Ty for sharing.

  • @Clivesvlogs:

    Thanks. :)

  • if you have osx 86 tools you dont need kext utility just hit install kexts

  • @wawa1196:

    Thats true.

I just got used to using kext utility when I used NvEnabler for the GPU.

When I discovered OSX86Tools for making a EFI-String for the videocard I kept using Kext Utility for the rest of the kexts. :)

  • @SpikezHackz:

Well, I just turned it off.

I am an old school guy and want to see the regular POST screen.

I find the new full screen logos annoying, but thats just probably me. ;)

  • What card do I need for wireless internet on the Gigabyte MoBo?

  • @Olphus:

Newegg has a couple of internal WLAN-cards that are OSX compatible.

I also got a PM from a guy that had bought a PCI-card that hold mini-PCI Express cards.

And he used an original Mac Pro WLAN-card.

Pops straight up in OSX as an Airport card, no drivers needed.

  • By the way, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you and thank you!

You have the EXACT kind of needs that I've been looking for! And your videos are the best EVER, really! Congrats!

Thumbs up if you agree that sn0le rocks and he saved our asses! HAHA

  • Comment removed

  • I have an older Gigabyte motherboard... it was a more involved install but the end result is with sound , graphics and ethernet....the wireless card is still a mystery. But hey its a dual boot , got Windows 7 going too

  • @newstart2009:

    Sweet. :)

  • @sn0le ya hopefully i will do a vid soon....it's more complicated than some vids, but it works..

  • @sn0le "If you plan to transfer your stuff from a Mac to your Hackintosh, please do not use Firewire and Target Mode." Some people have experienced issues with time machine and networking as well man =/

Well, I have a TIME CAPSULE, with 383 gigs of files of my old Macbook pro.

I really want to make a HACKINTOSH, but I need to know if I will be abble to access my time capsule with it, and also do backup with TIME MACHINE. Do You know if it works with this method n' this hardware of yours?

  • @boonu:

I don't have a Time Capsule, so I can't say for sure if it will work or not.

I did test Time Machine on my old Hackintosh, and it did work for backing up files.

However, using the Time Machine backup for a re-install didn't work.

But there might be ways to get it working. I just haven't tried it alot.

All of my files are stored on a RAID 1 array on my old computer.

    I access them over LAN.

  • @TiberiuDubau09:

Very nice to hear that. It means that my video has served its purpose. :D

  • Thanks

  • Hi, i'm installing mac os on a Dell Studio 1537.. I was in the graphics card step but my keyboard and mouse pad doesn't work. Could you help me?? What should I do know, the work before I did the empire EFI post install step. Thanks!!

  • @eldaguinio:

Installing OSX on a desktop is one thing, installing it on a laptop is a totally different matter.

Your best bet is to Google "Dell Studio 1537" and the word "OSX" or "Hackintosh".

If you're lucky, someone has already figured out to get everything working on that particular laptop model.

  • let me get this straight I need a macbook also in order to install hackintosh on my desktop pc?

  • @airmax3255:

    Not when using my method.

Other methods require that you either have a Mac or another Hackintosh to prepare a USB-stick.

My method works without the need for a Mac/Hackintosh.

You just need the original Snow Leopard DVD and a computer to burn the Empire EFI image to a CD.

  • I just installed the iAtkos v7. Everything is working except for my gpu and sound. I download the 0sx86 tools utility and did everything you showed in the video and it's still bad. I was wondering if you had any advice on what to do next to get this working. GPU is a geforce 210 (gt218). the audio is onboard on a gigabyte ep45-ud3l mobo. Thanks in advance.

  • @gaarauchiha90:

Sorry. Haven't used iAtkos my self, so it is hard for me to know if there are any special things you have to do to get this working.

I would try a kext called NvInject or NvEnabler for the GPU.

And you need to find a kext for the motherboards Realtek ALC888 Audio chip.

  • i noticed that my ethernet connection reads 0Mbit/s just like you showed in your vid. when i tried changing the settings to manual like you showed, nothing changed. the ethernet works fine, but it still reads 0Mbit/s. any suggestions? thanks again for all the work and detailed tutorial vids.

  • @migsrus:

I don't have any suggestions really.

Do you have a Gigabit Switch? If you don't, you'll have to set it manually to 100Mbit.

Also you could try to play around with the various options. (Duplex and MTU).

If you test with a transfer to another computer in your network you can see what the transferspeed is in Activity Monitor.

I get about 50 MByte/sec when copying a file from my fileserver to my Hackintosh.

It should be higher (in theory), but it depends on many factors.

  • @R0CKET2MARS:

    Fakesmc.kext doesn't go in S/L/E.

It goes in the "Extra/Extensions" on the root of your HDD.

I doubleclicked kext Utility afterwards to repair disk permissions on both S/L/E and "Extra/Extensions".

I am by all means not an expert in DSDT.

As far as I have understood how DSDT works, it does so you don't need kexts for your motherboard.

I got this rig working with kexts, so I haven't taken the time to understand DSDT better.

  • Hi sn0le, first I'd like to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for taking the time to put up all these videos. They have been a tremendous help, especially for a noob like me. A couple of newb questions but are you able to dual boot off this machine and use windows? And is this machine fast enough for current gaming?

  • @MrFunkygoodtime:

Thanks for the feedback man. :)

Yeah, dualbooting works. I have some videos about it.

I installed Steam for Mac the other day and played through Portal twice.

    Works fine.

I used this videocard in my old rig, and it was good enough to play.

Basically it is the videocard that is the biggest limitation.

If you want a purebreed gaming rig, a i7 with an "outdated" GPU isn't the way to go.

But to play WOW or similar it would be more than enough.

  • @R0CKET2MARS:

You can see what files the myhack installer installed for me @ 6:43 in this video.

Everything in the folder called "extra" on the root of the drive is what myHack installed.

I don't know specifically what they do, but it has something to do with hardware emulation or something, so that OSX thinks it runs on a genuine Mac. :)

  • @R0CKET2MARS:

Unfortunately, Gigabyte uses self extracting EXE-files for the BIOS updates.

So you need to get them unpacked with Windows somehow.

You can download the EXE-file, put it on a USB-stick and unpack it on a Windows PC.

When you have done that, you can use the flashing utility in the BIOS to update the BIOS using the unpacked files on the USB-stick.

That is how I did it, and it worked just fine.

  • sn0le,

Your guides have done WONDERS for me!!! You are the best! I am having two strange issues that I did not see mentioned in your guides.

    1. Audio is working but I must manually select between line out and headphones. I was told on this board that it worked automatically for most people? Any thoughts on this?

    2. Still having strange shutdown and restart issues. System just hangs forever until I have to do a reboot manually.

Again thanks a million for your guides!!!!

  • @mattystevenson:

    2. I haven't had these types of issues my self, so I can't offer any solution.

You should go over your connections, settings in BIOS etc to see if there is something there that might be a problem.

If you can't figure it out, drop me a PM with as much details your hardware, how you have everything connected, your BIOS settings, what version of OSX youre running and kexts you've used etc.

  • @sn0le Hey man sorry for the 3x post last time. I wanted to write and tell you I found the reason I was having most of my problems. For whatever reason when I was building my machine, I plugged my main hard drive into one of the 4 GSATA ports and everything else in the regular SATA ports. Don't recall how I could have been so dumb to do such a thing. Either way shutdown/restart work like a charm now as do many other things. Kernel_task was always running high but just fine now. Thx again!!

  • @mattystevenson:

    No problem man. :)

Nice to hear that you figured out what the problem was.

Now you can enjoy OSX. :)

  • @mattystevenson:

    Thanks for the feedback. :)

    1. Same for me. I use a headset plus a cable from another minijack to my stereo. A quick way to change audio output is to hold down "alt" while you press the speaker icon.

Then you can easily change output. I am not sure if it even is possible to have sound out on both outputs at the same time.

BUT. The audio-connectors on my casing are connected to the Audio header. So I get sound out on the rear connector and the casing connector at the same time.

  • Hey sn0le! how u been? I just finished my i7 hackintosh with the same motherboard :D i got some info to tell you.

There's a (RealtekR1000SL.kext) and Network Utility automatically shows 1 Gbit.

After doing all the updates, Audio quit working. Im on 10.6.3 and have tried many other kexts to get audio working but no success.

I was wondering if you installed any other kexts or did any other modifications to ur OS since your #8 Update Video?

    Thanks.

  • @soccerbitch:

    Nice work! :)

I need to try that Realtek Kext. I have Gigabit LAN between the Hackintosh and the fileserver I have, but I do not get very high speeds.

Allthough I get 30MB/s (240Mbit/s), so it is way higher than 100Mbit/s.

I've thought it might be because the kext I used might not be optimal.

I haven't done any modifications to my setup since video #8.

Still haven't updated to 10.6.3 or got sleep working (sleep is something I never use anyways, so I haven't bothered).

  • @sn0le Good news, did some research and got sound to work. The funny thing was its so simple to fix lol i just want to kick myself wasting time on looking for the kext while it was staring right at me. You have to backup your AppleHDA.kext before updating to 10.6.3, for me, i just had to get into the Kexts 10.6 folder and drag the two kexts to kext ulitity like u did in this video :) So updating to 10.6.3 is successful now

  • @soccerbitch:

    Sweet! :)

  • Just a little notice about something.

If you plan to transfer your stuff from a Mac to your Hackintosh, please do not use Firewire and Target Mode.

I got a PM from a user saying his motherboard probably fried because of that.

I am currently doing some research, to see what caused him to fry his motherboard.

  • Hi , there is a F12 bios now , is this working ok ? what do you recommend for snow leopard ? thanks , finally got the Machine MOBO bios working , needed to short out pins 1 CE and 6 SCK on boot 2- 3 seconds , on the bios chip to force a bios reset . :( :) bit tricky to do longer to find out how!! short was put on bios chip M to fix mobo . somehow the dual bios was muffed up . all seems ok now ..

  • @kenspocket:

Ah, great to see that you fixed it.

I'm using BIOS F12 now. At the time of my install, F7 was the latest.

However, it had a bug in the auto fan control thingy for the CPU-fan, so I tried with a Beta BIOS, F9e.

When I did a reinstall to make my guide, F9e would not work for the install.

Basically, try installing OSX with F12 BIOS, if it doesn't work, try with F11, F10 or F9.

If that doesn't work, use F7 for the install.

Would be nice if you tried this, and tell which worked. :)

  • @sn0le ,yes thanks , F12 is working with install , sometimes very slow to boot in between reboots , or mouse pointer ok but no click action for 5 mins after boot . installing the boot loader so no CD is needed to boot seems to fix that issue .

  • @kenspocket:

Sweet. Nice to know that the F12 works for the install.

Thanks for letting me know. :)

  • Thanks sn0le, your tutorial is amazing! You did a wonderful job!

    I'll order my parts next week. I will use: i7 930 / GA-X58A-UD3 / Sapphire ATI 4890 / Fractal Design R2 with extra fans.

Do you think the kexts (LAN and Audio) of the UD5 will be functional on the UD3? (I think both Motherboards use Realtek ALC889 codec)

Have you tried to Dual Screen?

  • @alienrebeldotcom:

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to see that people like my work. ;)

The LAN should work, they both use the Realtek RTL8111D chip.

So the kext I linked to should work fine.

The Audio might work. The GA-EX58-UD5 uses Realtek ALC889A, and the GA-X58A-UD3R uses Realtek ALC889.

So their slightly different. Either the kext I linked to will work, or you just need to find another one. Shouldn't be too hard.

    I've done Dual-screen with my 24" Dell U2410 and my Sony 40" LCD-TV. :)

  • @sn0le Great! I will keep you informed... Thanks again.

  • hay whats up?

  • @miketurbo5:

I just put my hardware over to my new casing, the Define R2.

And I connected the front audio ports to the motherboard, and it works.

Thought I'd let you know, since you asked about it. :)

  • @SpikezHackz:

I'm usually cautious about upgrading the BIOS.

I only do it if I have some sort of problem, or if I need additional CPU-support.

The reason is that I've actually had a working system, and upgraded the BIOS and the computer would randomly freeze etc.

Downgrading the BIOS made it stable again.

So my rule is, if it's working, don't f***g mess with it. ;)

  • Addition:

The system was a PC I had years ago.

So it has nothing to do with the computer I have today.

    Just a little detail. :)

  • Thanks For The Video snOle Ima do this on my hackintosh i put together yesterday might hehe.

my mother board is the Gigabyte, GA-EP45-UD3L P45 Socket 775 ATX Motherboard,

and my processor is the intel core 2 quad q9550 2.83 ghz. im grateful to god i found your videos wow im really confident about doing it this way atlast someone who puts step by step intstructions thank you so so so so so so so much.!!! if all goes well ill post a video response to this around monday or sunday. cheers.! =DD

  • @drumsforjs:

Glad you found my videos helpful.

Your LAN might work out of the box, since it's a Realtek RLT8111C.

The GA-EX58-UD5 uses Realtek RLT8111D and needs kext.

The GA-EX58-UD3R (depending on revision) uses either 8111C or 8111D.

According to feedbacks I've got from others, the 8111C works out of the box.

And you'll need a different kext for audio, since you motherboard uses Realtek ALC888, while the kexts I've linked to is for ALC889.

Other than that, you should be good. :)

  • @sn0le Hey i Installed It Successfully But im missing audio and im having a lot of trouble with my video card its the nvidia geforce 9800 gt idk i think i did something wrong it stays in the blue screen then i restart and everything is back to normal.? can you help me.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @drumsforjs:

Did you get a kext for your ALC888, like I mentioned?

The kext I've linked to is for the ALC889 on the UD5 motherboard.

If you did get the correct kext, were there any instructions?

Some places I've seen that the instruction is to delete the original Apple HD-Audio kexts.

About the videocard, it should be straight forward.

Did you set the correct parameters?

Do you use VGA or DVI?

  • @sn0le Thanks Yea I Found Some Ima install them And The Video Card yea its Working now But to Get the good resolution how do i get it.?

    do i use osx86 tools.?

i use vga an adapter so it could adapt to the avi.

  • @drumsforjs:

You need to run OSx86 Tools to create a EFI-string for the videocard.

OR.... You can use a kext.

But I find it very easy to make a EFI-string.

There is even a tutorial here on Youtube for using it.

Thats how I learned how to use it.

  • @sn0le THank you Very much but my video card is not in there so i should do what you did here right.? go to custom gforece.? well i did it but went to displays resolutions and clicked on the wrong one and everything got messed up from there but now i have a clean install again. well i would love to know how could i do it the kext way.?

  • @drumsforjs:

    Go to kexts dott com.

    Find a Nvinject kext.

Drag n drop via Kext utility.

    It should work.

  • @sn0le Thank you very much ill keep you updated everything is ok now all i need to do is fix my video and audio and make a video thank you so much.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @drumsforjs:

    Sweet! :)

  • @sn0le Well i got my hackintosh up and running but no graphics card and audio. its frustrating. well heres my graphics card its a nvidia geforce 9800 gt bfg, and well i cant get audio for my EP45-UD3L. =((((
