I honestly don't really care about politics that much, but I don't see how referring to my country by its constitutional name in completely unofficial and informal communication can offend anyone...I wish I could use/say something that wouldn't dissatisfy anyone, but unfortunately, I don't think the situation allows it.

I hate how in America we start learning a second language officially in high school when most other developed countries begin learning their second languages around age 10 or so. I know German teenagers that speak three languages to my two.

Listened to this song in my German class in high school. It disappoints me greatly that my college teaches Arabic, Japanese, French, Spanish and Russian but no German. Every single high school in the area teaches German, but not the one community college nearby.....

@arceus208 Lassen mich just means "let me." "Lass mich rein" is correct because: Lass is the imperative form of lassen, so it's a command form; mich is me, and rein is in. So lass mich rein = let me in.

You can never have a perfect translation from 1 language to another, and it's ESPECIALLY true for music because the syllables don't match up - i.e. the Japanese word "kawaii" translates as "cute" in English. Kawaii is 3 syllables, while cute is 1

If you're singing, that's the equivalent of 3 notes to 1 note, so "Kawaii" becomes "It's cute, right?"

Sorry for using Japanese...all my German examples had the same syll. count
