  • I have two of these. Both did not work from the factory as claimed. When in the "off" state:

    1. the constant line is grounded through the switched line. This means that a small amount of voltage seeps into whatever system you tap for the switched power. On a VW or Audi, if using the stereo, this will cause the factory alarm to disable

    2. the scanner does not turn completely off. The LEDs continue to scan, but at a much reduced brightness. Visible only at night

Must be installed with a relay.

  • I'd like to install an aftermarket alarm system- that when I arm the car, I get the red scanner light (Like in knight rider). How can I do that with this system?

  • @SVPrelude Mine still works after 3 years but only half of the LED's!One was inop as soon as I got it!

    I like the concept though...

  • Can u guys make an installation video for this scanner.

  • how do you install just the LED light into the car? does anyone know?

  • It just needs 12v to opperate.

You would most likely be safe to tap into a specific fuse.

You could then install a discreet 'in line' switch you could switch on when you get out and off when you return.

If you were feeling adventeris you could very easily use a standered relay and connect wires with reveresed polarity so the scanner comes on when you shut off the ignition and goes off when ignition is back on.

You could still utilize the switch so you could temporarily shut off.

  • @JesseSpartan Very simple . The red goes to constant power, the yellow to any power that is controlled by the ignition (Radio, CD player,......) and the black to ground. Easy peasy....

  • Difficult customers below this comment.

  • Uh, the description says the LED's move back and forth, but the video shows the LED's moving in one direction, right to left, then starts back right to left, never going left to right. Do you have one that goes back and forth like your description says?
