Hi, I got the same stepper, but I'm a newbie with electronic systems. I'd like to use it but I can't cause I don't know its datasheet. Can you help me?
@ormarcom I chose the music from the youtube library and can't find the details for it. If anyone knows how to find out what the audio track is, please say.
@Electrozonelectronic Audio information for this video Artist: The Robot Ate Me Song: I'm OK Album: On Vacation, Part Two Time: 02:56 Genre: Rock :D btw. your shaft looks wobbly :P
Wow, that was beyond unnecessary. From looking at your profile and your subscription to someone who posts nothing but rips of Family Guy and Naruto, I would venture a guess that you aren't really a 68 year old resident of Pakistan, either. Impostor.
@slycer98 A stepper motor will run on out of phase AC current. Which means if you put a capacitor on one winding you can make the motor go. Figuring out exactly what capacitor can be a little tricky.
@vftdhys a Stepper Motor is a Brushless Synchronus Motor that Divides One Rotation into a large Number of Steps Basically....Stepper Motors are used in Precision Type things....i Know Hard Drives used to have them before they started using "Voice Coil" type Acuation.
I just did that today! Seriously old scanner, Bell + Howell 2000D FB. The guy said it was free so I walked with it. 3 stepper motors, 2 regular dc motors, a solenoid, plus a whole treasure trove of gears, rods, and recoverable electronics! It's really old so all the parts are beefy as all get out. The weight of the whole machine actually caught me off guard. The funny thing was the guy wanted to sell me the same motors for 5 bucks a piece ha ha. Yyyyoink!
@donnyab The faster you drive a stepper motor the less time the coils have to charge so they end up drawing less and less current eventually they draw so little they have no power and cannot overcome their own inertia.
Hi this is probably off topic but seeing as you seem to know your way around electronics do you know which type of motor is the most efficient in terms energy usage for an rc application? Great video
WOW! how do you do that, I can't get any ware near that speed with my 297 and 298 chopper driver (homebuilt). I am running off a microcontroller and if I drop the pause inbetween steps to less than 2/1000 of a sec it stutters.
Just make sure you have a good PSU and drive the motor at a high voltage with the board current set to high and experiment to see which step resolution gets the fastest speed.
hey do you have a datasheet or some info about this motor? I just bought it and want to use it to make my new micromouse....will need it for some preliminary calculations.
The song is Bring me to life-Evanescence T.T

Thanks you for your post. What is the procedure to run the stepper motor from micro controller. plz reply me.

To connect a microcontroller, it needs inputs for enable, step and direction. Quite easy.

also...cool demonstration of the step motor at such a fast speed. Thanks for posting it.

The description says 1200 RPM. The video was made on the fly and it's hard to change the commentary.
Sorry you have been so offended.
Many thanks for your advice.

I have a question... What exactly is a stepper motor? I've heard of them before but not what they do.
vftdhys 2 years ago
@vftdhys It is a motor which, when a voltage is applied, moves step by step instead of continuously.
Electrozonelectronic 2 years ago
@Electrozonelectronic - Do you always need a controler to make it work!?

put your finger on the edge wile its spinning at 1500 rpm and press your funger in from the side and see what happens! : )
hddr3 2 years ago
@hddr3 . Not something I could recommend doing because it might cause the motor to stall.

Exactly. The motors from old printers are usually perfect for this kind of thing.
Thanks for the comment.

1. why does it stall like that ? &
2. if there is a load on it I presume it slows down a lot ?
donnyab 2 years ago
It stalls when the step speed is too fast for the motor.
If there is a load, the motor won't slow down, it will either go at the speed the stepper motor controller tells it to go at or stall.

is that full stepping, half stepping or microstepping? on a bipolar or unipolar motor?
great vid though!

Hi,
It's a bipolar motor and driver with the driver board set on full step.
Thanks for the comment.
