In every portayal, they seem to get KOA wrong....She's always portrayed as a moorish, dark-haired, brown-eyed woman, but in reality, she had strawberry blonde or light auburn hair and blue eyes.
On a related note, AB wasn't beautiful by the standards of the day, but that did not mean she wasn't a beautiful lady...after her death, all portraits of her were destroyed, we will never TRULY know.
@ContrastY In those days they were not aware of biological sciences to the degree of how the gender was determined, sad for the queens of Henry the VIII. Just imagine if Katherine of Aragon's sons had lived and not been still born or died....
thank you Thank you for putting this up ! my fascination my love of the tudors but especially of Anne and ELizabeth began when i was 8 and this was the movie that began my love affair with these two incredibile if sometimes misunderstood woman..
i dont understand our fascination with henry and anne especially but i have to say i have never seen a version i didn't like, including this! :)
and i have never seen a version of anne i didn't like but i have to say natalie D was exceptionally beautiful, i though anne couldn't get more beautiful than natalie portman and then i (rather lately) watched the tudors and i was blown away! she's gorgeous and thats a women saying that!
@lilmizzy2008 is it really all about who can play the most beautiful Anne? after all, Anne's beauty was reportedly limited, although she knew how to work a spell with her eyes (which were not blue, as in the Tudors).
Watch "A Man for All Seasons" (also on YouTube) for an extremely succinct but eloquent portrayal of Sir Thomas More, who refused to sign because of his conscience. Interestingly, the music in A Man for All Seasons was by the same composer, but not nearly as beautiful, although there are more quotable scenes.
@steve1111111ful I can't seem to find the whole movie of A Man for All Seasons online in full. It's free on Amazon for Prime members. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place on YT.
Well, Henry did manage to produce five sons in his lifetime: two by Catherine of Aragon (both died in infancy), one by Anne Boleyn (stillborn), one by Jane Seymour (Edward VI, who died at fifteen) and an illegitimate son, Henry Fitzroy (son of Bessie Blount, a mistress) who died at seventeen. True, reproductive science was primitive then, but even if Henry had been made aware of the facts, as an anointed king, he still would have blamed the wives.
as much as i love this movie, Mary Boleyn is totally different in this movie than what she suppose to be! She was a little sad that Henry was no longer interested in her, yes, but she wasn't angry. She was wanted by so many men that the king would soon be replaced by others lol.
According to the Academy Awards exposé Inside Oscar, an expensive advertising campaign was mounted by Universal Studios that included serving champagne and filet mignon to members of the Academy following each screening.
Despite receiving some negative reviews and a mixed, but complimentary review from the New York Times, the film was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won the award for best costumes. Geneviève Bujold's portrayal of Anne, her first in an English-speaking film, was, however, very highly praised, even by Time magazine, which otherwise skewered the movie.
The film stars Richard Burton as King Henry VIII and Geneviève Bujold as Anne Boleyn. Irene Papas plays Catherine of Aragon. Others in the cast include Anthony Quayle, John Colicos, Michael Hordern, Katharine Blake, Peter Jeffrey, Joseph O'Conor, William Squire, Vernon Dobtcheff, Denis Quilley, Esmond Knight and T. P. McKenna. Elizabeth Taylor makes a brief, uncredited appearance.
Anne of the Thousand Days is a 1969 costume drama made by Hal Wallis Productions and distributed by Universal Pictures. It was directed by Charles Jarrott and produced by Hal B. Wallis. The film tells the story of Anne Boleyn. The screenplay is an adaptation by Bridget Boland, John Hale and Richard Sokolove of the 1948 play by Maxwell Anderson; Anderson's blank verse format was retained for only portions of the screenplay, such as Anne's soliloquy in the Tower of London.
Thank u for posting this! I have been wanting to see this for a long time! Is there any other movies like this besides the tudors. like one that deals with just henry and kathrine howard? or jane seymour? Like this movie is just about Anne and henry
@Chelseauchiha50 Yes, I have uploaded another one here, hun. Its called "Henry VIII & Anne Boleyn (BBC 1970) 1-6 " playlist.:) I hope you like it. Its very short but it deals with them two:)
I am watching this because I saw an interview with Johnathan Rhys Myers and he mentioned Richard Burton as Henry VIII. I've never seen this one and so far I like! Thank you for uploading!
@ProfessorSSJ omg I love JRM,:) I am a huge fan of "The Tudors" T.V Show..lol Yes, I think I remember the interview that you mentioned where he talks about Burton.:) I hope you like this version. Which will be a bit different than the others but good in it's own way..I guess.:) You're welcome:)
The man who portrays Thomas Boleyn, the father of Anne, also portrayed the kindly Catholic priest who befriended the ardently Protestant Jane Grey in the movie "Lady Jane" starring Helena Bonham Carter!
I have to say thank you so much for putting this up!!!!, even though I am not a huge fan of Anne B, but Genevieve Bujold plays a beautiful Anne B, at least they got her right, I don't think Anne B was as Beautiful as nataile D who plays her in "The Tudors" or even has blue or Velet eyes. thank you for uploading this film. -_~
@Hattaru - Dorothy Tutin played Anne Boleyn in the BBC 1970 series The six wives of Henry VIII - she was magnificent as an Anne , in the film version of the series she was played by Charlotte rampling - like Natalie Dormer she too was far too gorgeous for the part.

One of the greatest injustices is that Richard Burton never won an Oscar. Truly one of the most accomplished actors ever.
