I recently "discovered" some nice songs sung by her two daugthers from years fifties ! Las Hermanas Fletas ( unfortunately strictly reservered by copyright)
Fleta was surely a great tenor,....... and a good Father too !
I recently "discovered" some nice songs sung by her two daugthers from years fifties ! Las Hermanas Fletas ( unfortunately strictly reservered by copy right)
I love Spain and its people, let alone its talented individuals like Fleta. DO not ever forget that the 52.000 best sons of the world joined International brigades (incl. 8.000 from ex-Yugoslavia) to help proud spanish peple to defend democracy from fascist. Many of them left their bones in Spain. Ethernal Glory to their brave sacrifice.
No habia punto medio.
My father serenaded me with this song when I was just a tiny girl. I heard the guitar first, I came out on the stairwell and then he began to sing in his rich baritone. I thought that I was a princess. It made me a hopeless romantic. I can't sing this without crying. Thank you for this very soulful version.
@horowitz109 I belive that certin voices in particular Fleta , and Caruso were perfect for the mechanical process. I wonder how many modern tenores ,say Mario Del Monaco or Pavarotti would have faired if they only had mechanical recordings ?
There are hundreds of recordings of this haunting melody from this period, and Fleta's is one of the best. You might also punch up a James Melton version for comparison.
I always love it when someone asks me who I think is the greatest tenor ever. I get to say, "Oh, easily Miguel Fleta." to a response of "Who's that?!" No, not Caurso, not Corelli, although I love both, but Fleta. That he died so young is a such a tragedy.
Dear Jerzy, many many thanks for posting this rare song here! I have listened to it for a dozen times so far and find it still delighting, fantastic and charming. Your work here is an immense enrichement for the whole community, please do not stop introducing me to these treasures.
Thank you for posting this song... it's my Grandfathers' favorite song... and My Grandma too... eventually became one of my favorite also. Everytime I hear it - brings back the memories... keeps me close to them - my grandfolks... and also reminds me very much how they loved me. 5 stars!

One of the most virile and outstanding tenors of his or any day. Incredible control, high notes, and I think great flair.
