  • at lleast mcqueen is being carried on by sara burton his understudy of 5 years instead of someone compleatly diffren and has no idea of what mcqueen was or did. and in my opinion shes doing an amazing job :)

  • So sad he is gone :-(

  • agreed. personally, im not a fan of sarah burton's work... i find it too safe, repetitive, and overall too girly. u know the brand will never be the same again.

  • Sarah can do so much better and still pull off a ready to wear line, to bring the Mqueen line up from that beginning stage financialy. Like I think she needs to think alot harder conceptually. Like idk bring Christian Siriano to help or something.

  • no one will take over this brand and match up to his talent, however sarah burton has done an amazing job keeping mcqueens traditions.

    God save mcqueen.

  • I completely agree with Lee. This is how i've always felt about the succeeder of lines. However, mcqueen was a revolutionary designer- the most incredible artist of the 21st century thus far- and i think it is a beautiful thing for his line to ever last with all that he left behind. Although the shows are not the same without him, sarah burton can serve the fashion world with the vision of mcqueen at heart, andsurvive him through all of theknowledge andexperiences they sharedwhile he was alive.

  • There are ways of honoring and carrying on his legacy without forcing the McQueen brand to continue. His influences on art and fashion will live on forever regardless of the longevity of the McQueen brand. I'm sure Sarah Burton is just trying to honor the memory of her mentor and friend but it's just so unnecessary and does indeed feel very undignified.

  • that interview was done 4 years ago, and at the time he obviously thought he was going to grow old with the brand.

Things are different, this is not a dying wish and I do believe Sarah Burton is doing an incredible job at maintaining his spirit while creating something slightly different.

  • he was just one of the luckiest one who's graduating colection been bought by Isabela Blow and his shows in Paris financed.comon...there is many houndreds or thousands of huge talented designers starving for money to open theyr owen brand, shop, show!

  • @latecia1

He wasn't just "lucky" - He was the one. There are VERY few talented designers, so get your facts straight. Also, there's no such thing as a WOMAN artist - so get over yourself you dumb dyke.

  • @Cardsmaster - write my name down hon.i gonna show you later.:-)

  • Its weird because I JUST finished watching the Spring 2011 show, and the spirit of Mcqueen wasn't there. Sarah Burton's skill may have covered it up for some people, and imitated some of his previous pieces to hide the difference, but there is a big massive hole in the middle of the show. There is no emotion, an aspect McQueen's shows were drenched with.

People are referring to the brand as a "fashion house" now, which bothers me because now it is grouped with the falseness of Gucci & others.

  • @phoneylala90

    I share the same opinion

  • @phoneylala90 same i just saw it and it seemed way to normal, very generic and mainstream, no creativity or eccentricity. Mcqueen will never be replaced, plain and simple.

  • To be honest McQueen beats all brands .. it's original .. RIP

  • they shouldnt be allowed to keep selling his shit making money off his name if he didnt wish them so.. its just not right... well we all shouldnt buy anything mcqueen after fall/winter 2010 or anything thats not archived collection pieces i know i for one wont!!!!!! ps gucci hasnt been shit since tom ford left there clothing sucks only broke ppl save up to buy it an they look like shit wearing it just cause it says gucci all over smh so sad

  • This is actually so interesting to see what he thought! the McQueen brand will never be the same...NEVER

  • I think I saw a recent video of a collection that was just done without Alexander McQueen and it looked soooooooo boring! Argh!

  • The filter on this interview gives me the creeps.the way his skin is going from freckled to smooth.....in a reptilian way...r.i.p.

  • Alexander McQueen was a true visionary. There are many valid reasons for carrying on his legacy, it's not just about the corporation. It's peoples lives. Do you think it was wrong that Versace carried on after Gianni died?

  • If the gucci group carry on with the brand, as everybody knows just for money its going to go downhill regardless of who the next in house designer is they will never be McQueen. Then leading to media saying how the brand has been killed totally wrecking everything Lee worked for. Leave the company on a high and let it die with Lee. Its what he wanted and anybody with respect for him wants!

  • @fuckyou1458 i totally agree!

  • So what's happening right now, the Gucci group continuing the McQueen brand, is exactly what he didn't wanted to happen

  • I think if you are truly a McQueen fan you would not feed the greedy cocksuckers at Gucci group by buying stuff sold under McQueens name and not his original design. That should teach them who is more powerful, them or the consumer! But Alas, they know us better than we know ourselves and that is just SAD. I beg you to prove me wrong.

  • Someone on youtube posted a video saying LEE had HIV. I contacted the GUCCI GROUP about this and they never email me back. The clip is still running and they never made the jerk take it down. I was hoping they would take legal action towards this mean individual. I will stop buying anything MCQUEEN after his final collections are out! I MISS HIM SO MUCH!

  • he was cute

  • Tragic his wishes won't be honoured. Moneygrab.

His runway will never be the same, sad!

    Thanks for sharing

  • @vixalish He killed himself,he knew exactlywhat he was doing so he didnt just die...it was a kind of selfish act tbh so it should carry on whether he likes it or not since he just up and left the company

  • Gucci needs its money, plain and simple. They should not carry on McQueen without MCQUEEN

  • @couturecouture22

Agreed. There's no other reason to keep calling it McQueen other than to exploit his name, which is the rudest thing one could ever do.

after the Aw10 collection I will confidently boycott any attempts to keep the brand running. I feel it would be fake to do anything else. You won't see me running to get a skull scarf. His concepts and key pieces was the core. He had tremendous integrity. I really mourn his departure.

  • @couturecouture22- We the consumer have the power to stop this not them. They cannot make this happen if the market is not there, so it is up to we the consumers to wake up and say we will not put up with this farce. But if we do than we will continue to get what we deserve.
