@JooSimAn The videos are shot in h.264 format. Try downloading quicktime for windows on Apple's website then open the files in quicktime. see if that helps

Hey I just got this camera, and I really love it except for ONE thing...

On my old camera, I heavily used the video mode, so I got the sd780 for the HD video. My ONE issue is that when I use the video function I get a LOT of background noise. Is this just me? Did you find a way to get rid of it in editing or something?

I have been researching this camera to buy and I read that common issue. Is the backround noise really that bad? I want to purchase it but not if the noise is so distracting. Please let me know if you would recommend this camera.

Imagine a million bees swarming the camera.

I tried to edit it out and everything, but it honestly just made the audio sound really robotic.

Despite that, it's a good camera. I'm getting a new one and hoping it doesn't have the noise issues.

I got this exact Camera yesterday, black and everything, I LOVE IT! The HD video.. Crystal clear pictures. IF your looking for a new digital camera at a reasonable price you have to go with this one. I ended up paying 266 Canadian $ for mine with 30$ memory card included. I LOVE THIS CAMERA. Much better than my old Olympus one.

@TouchMulaGANG yes!!! they do suck.....i brought my broken laptop in the first time and they told me it was the battery charger...I had the insurance so it was free, but i had to wait 2 weeks in the mail to get it...THe BATTERY CHARGER WASNT THE PROBLEM. so i took it back, they said it was the battery. I waited another 2 weeks in the mail to get a new battery and....IT WASNT THE BATTERY. i figured out myself online (a diff. computer lol) that it was my motherboard. Those Dumbasses!

I just got this camera, and I have a concern about the lcd screen. When I turn the camera on in picture mode (auto or manual), the screen is extremely grainy, whereas in video mode, the screen is clear and bright. The pictures and the videos come out fine, but while aiming the camera to take a picture, what I'm seeing through my screen is terrible. Is yours at all like this? If not, do you have any suggestions?

I actually have only used it indoors. I left it with my family back home when I left town so they could use it. At the time I bought it, I only tried using it indoors.

I'm a little annoyed by this though. They advertise this Pure Color LCD whatever, but when you use it, it's unappealing. I'm wondering why barely anyone has brought this up in reviews of the camera. My old casio exilim is from 2006 and it's screen is excellent in comparison. Disappointing...

it depends on the amt of space left on your memory card, the resolution you're using, and battery life. if you have an 8gb card w/full battery and film in 720p you can film for quite a while

You can, but it reduces the quality of the video and I wouldn't recommend it. It's not designed for video of far away objects. Try to get close to what you're shooting

I was wondering, have you or anybody else used a Sandisk Extreme 3 Memory Card, it has 30 MBS or other high end memory cards? which is suppose to be great for video quality. I would think a regular memory card would not do this camera just. I cannot imagine this camera without a great memory card

Great question. You do have the ability to shoot in standard format. I think you can do 640x480 and 320x240.

Can this camera also record video in standard format? 'm afraid my four year old macintosh won't be able to handle viewing from an High Definition format. When tried to view the video in High Def on youtube, the video froze up everytime and only the audio worked. I was about to order the camera when this issue came to my attention.

It isn't $300, I have been seeing it on sale very frequently over the past couple of weeks. I'm not familiar w/the 1200 IS so I can't comment on quality. I would imagine it is similar, but you get HD video on the 780.

It's very easy as you'd expect. You can either pop in the memory card to a reader (check out my video on the Griffin ipod dock/card reader) or plug in the USB. From there you can import into iMovie or iPhoto or just save to a folder on your hard drive.

i would think it is good enough to record guitar and singing. the downside to the camera is that it picks up wind badly outside. if you're going to be indoors you should be fine.

You could look into getting a program that will convert the .mov files into movie maker supported formats or look into purchasing a different video editor. I use iMovie '09 w/my iMac. I'm a recent mac switcher (Feb) and I love it.

I bought it at Best Buy for $249.99. It is normally 279.99. I think it is very much worth it if you're on the market for a digital camera. Easy to use, good quality pictures, and shoots 720p HD video...all while fitting in a jacket pocket.
