  • I will never forgive "Fiddlers Green" for making Ms. Brickell go on even though 1/2 the audience was still in line waiting to get in, since the reason my wife and I went that night was to see her and "New Bohemians" , Don Henley was "headliner" and could have played longer..we felt ripped off..back in the early 90's..and I swore never to return..so far I have kept my promise..except for the time I went to see the "B-52's" and only because "The English teacher" wanted to go...later that decade

  • she's genius artist:)

  • bought this album back in august 1994, when it first came out, instantly became my favorite "soft pop" album. this song, in particular, stands out. the words pierce you like a dagger! she needs to record more often!

  • How i love this song!!!!!! I love you Edie you are the best of times!!!! This is your fan Wally from Buenos Aires Argentina!!!!!!!

  • The saddest song ever written?

  • this is a great cd, but so is Volcano! :-)

  • One of the best songs by the wonderful and underrated Edie Brickell!

  • How beautiful is this.. Music, as it shuld be, still touches the soul after all these trying years...

  • Remember sitting in an empty lounge when I first heard this track, my ears perked up, I knew it was Edie, I was then on a mission to find the cd. The lyrics and the production are absolutely flawless. The lead guitar, amazing textures. Her voice I love.

  • Am I the only 16 year old guy who gets int this

    i think i have a problem :l

    Edie Brickell's voice is fantastic

  • @Lopinjop1238

Shows you have a heart and a brain.

  • @Lopinjop1238 you're just fine, follow on..

  • Wonderful I guess this shows my age lol...

  • maybe my favorite by her.

  • Beautiful song and beautifully sung.

  • One of the few songs that makes me cry.

  • Yes it is very sad and melancholic ... I keep aware not to be lost in the moment... because moments ain't gonna come back.

  • an autumn day with blue shinning sky and yellow leaves ..on the trees

  • Why didn't they make an official video? A great touching song and story to be told with pictures...

  • @FrancescoGuardi A very touching and sad story told in a wonderful song. However, your own imagination of this song is the very best video you can have.

  • @candelise yes of course. But i don't think this is a reason to make no video. I wonder why there's no video-artist feeling inspired to make it

  • What I love about this song is the beauty that's created by it, with the strange dichotomy of mixing a relaxed and sunny melody with dark and sad lyrics. Brilliant. I always feel like Edie is under-appreciated both for her musicality & song writing abilities. One of my faves :-)

  • I normally hate sad songs, but this one is so wonderful, this is my favorite song by her with the sole exception og Tommorow Comes.

  • Accidently found this video

I think its deep music that makes you think. nice though.

  • Lovely video.

  • This is the most wonderful song.

Thank you for posting the video!

  • I love the guitar, of course her voice is fantastic, but the guitar hohohohohohooho amazing!!!

  • This is officially the worlds sadest song. The bit with the tree gets me every time. Yep, it did it again.

  • To: theccbaxter. Yep, me too.

  • whow. what a song. I love it. But it is absoluetly courios. Melody and Lyrics dosnt match. The Song sounds so brightly. But the Lyrics are so dark.

  • irony. liz phair does a song called 'flower'. sounds like a kids song until you hear the lyrics. it would make any porn star blush with embarrasment.

  • @meisterschnick Goes to show a sad melody does not havre to be in minor keys. The music is selling the lyrics and the lyrics is selling the music.

  • Thank you, Marcelo, for adding this. It is my favorite Brickell song and one of my favorite narrative songs of all time. It is just heartbreaking. The sweetness of her singing in juxtaposition with the horrific crime is so effective. The country gospel feel of the "Are you there?" sections provide additional texture. Here's proof that a single song can contain the depth and impact of an entire novel.

  • Nice ... thanks for posting this!

  • Thank you for posting this. It always reminds me of the first time I fell in love.

  • Do you know how young-crazy my life was when this thing first hit my airwaves? I want to be sooooooooooooooo old old old. Hey xxxmedium, A big fat ;-) for you homey!

  • Cheers

  • I am older an older and I like this song more and more.

  • This has been one of my favorite recordings (the entire album) since it came out. So few people know of it but I still turn on friends to it from time to time. This song is particularly moving among the brilliant songs of 'Picture Perfect Morning'.

    Cheers

  • Totally agree, timmyboy! ;D

  • @marcelomenuzzi great album

  • Powerful, you have no idea how relevant this is!

  • this is without a doubt one of her best songs. thanks for the post
