That thing about sequential eating Christopher Walken's father were talking about was really interesting. It really was. But at the end one thing he said simply didn't make any sense to me. I don't know if I'm stupid, but here's what he said (and I let you be the judge): "...if I ate the wrong sequence, then the food gets trapped and it does not leave. Because the rule is... YOU GOTTA EAT MORE COW BELLS!"
Dont be upset because he recommends animal products, remember that he has a lot of experience and found exactly what works for him through a lot of trail and error. What works for him might not for another, keep in mind he might be a protein dependent person as where raw foodist are usually type A or AB and carb cravers.
1. They had "degenerative diseases" on the "ultimate raw food diet" of raw "goat's milk, honey and grains" ?? Um, no wonder. Sorry, but I don't consider those part of any ultimate raw food diet.
2. So the only way to survive on a vegan diet is to cheat? Interesting. Gee, must have been those 2 t. of cheese I had by mistake back in 2002 that's been carrying me through the last 8 years, lol. Hogwash.
Otherwise, still cool to see such an interview. Thanks.
interesting. This christmas I visited my grandma. She is 94 and in good health, mentally and physically. She survived two world wars, drinks and smokes daily, but she doesn't eat a lot. I guess diets a very personal and you should eat whatever you like, as long as you eat with moderation and keep the prefabbed processed food out (like white sugar).
@UmpaLoempa Thats really interesting. The Okanowa eat less. Does your Grandma eat meat or fish, egg? Does she eat protein at each meal? How about vegetables, processed food, white bread sugar? How about lard, margerine or cooking oil? Thanks : ) I study longevity theories but it is good to hear from others who know people living long.
I've been vegan 9 years; I have lifelong vegan kids, absolutely no "cheating", and no deficiencies shown in complete bloodwork. We aren't 100% raw, by the way. But since we are all thriving, healthier than anybody else we know (especially the kids!), how can we tell we have deficiencies? If bloodwork doesn't show it and we feel fantastic...how can we know? What signs would we look for? I would have liked to hear more about that.
Also , what SPECIFICALLY is a Life long Vegan , who eats a Balanced diet with alot of Greens, and getting plenty of sunshine prone to be lacking in that a person eating animal foods has an advantage ?
paul he did NOT answer about the calories in a clear way - with all due respect he did NOT say what people in the westeran world can do - eat etc etc! what did we gain from this intrview? sorry but the king is naked
My conclusion is Dr. Bass made it to 91 by fasting! My grandmother just died, she lived to 91 and was in better shape than Dr. Bass,by the way she ate meat everyday! My great grandfather lived to 98 and smoked nonfilter camel cigaretts for 60 years, lol ! i wonder if they had been vegans maybe they would have live into there hundreds !
"i wonder if they had been vegans maybe they would have live into there hundreds ! "
Well, based on the fact that we have no living evidence ever of anyone living beyond 100 while being vegan I doubt that this would have played out as you state.
Meat eaters will get cancer. Meat is murder and poison. Some people really do not know why we have animals on earth! ANIMALS ARE NOT OUR FOOD! Animals are our friends, helpers and angels. They are on earth to balance the negative atmosphere. They bring Love to this earth because they are very pure. Breeding and killing animals destroys our precious planet! VEGAN food is LOVE and compassion! Killing animals is never right! Peace begins on the plate with a VEGAN diet!
Cooked meat eaters will develop cancer cells to dissolve the AGE's and heterocyclic amines created in the cooking process. Cancer cells being employed is a natural process. Dr. Bass does not cook his food.
Why the emotional and dramatic tirade? How about some substance?
"They are on earth to balance the negative atmosphere."
Dr.Brass is not very convincing to me with his animal diet...what about our digestive system?we have a much longer one than the carnivores...even if the vegan diet wouldn't be the perfect one,I don't wanna be selfish...animals have the right to live!we can't choose to take their life just because we think we're healthy by consuming animal products....
Dr. Bass is 91 and Obviously very sharp mentally and not bad Physically either, hes totally Independent and needs NO care or medical assistance of any kind.
You gotta admit that IS very impressive especially in this usa society where most everyone over 70 is under some type of care , medication or requiring assistance in their day to day life
i wonder why more Vegans, especially Raw Vegans never seem to make it to this age in good condition ?
Hey Paul Nison I know you said this guy is super healthy and all of this at the end and indeed he is, but what about Jack Lalanne? Jack Lalanne is amazing and to me looks even healthier than Dr. Bass! He is 95 too! Paul can you interview Jack Lalanne? That would be awesome man. Try and get him on your show! Thanks :-)
Jack Lalanne doesnt do Interviews anymore, and if he did, he would only do the big production super popular shows, Hes a Celebrity big shot and is inaccessible to Us
Dr. Bass has always been a very down to earth , likeable non elitist guy willing to talk to anyone
@thedurianking : Lalanne ate fish. To my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong) he didn't eat red meat, chicken or dairy. He also liked a glass of red wine now and then. ;o)
I like Wild Salmon and Sardines! I think between this guy and Dr. Mark Hyman they got it nailed on being healthy! :D Dr Perricone is pretty darn smart too when it comes to a healthy diet! I tried consuming raw organic grass-fed dairy, but it made me constipated lol. I eat raw egg yolks!
even in tropics people could hardly thrive only on vegan food as searching for fruit all the time would be hard, plus uncultivated fruit like bananas are usually pretty small...
What I'm saying is that in nature it would be very hard to live by eating vegan food only and in many areas especially at some seasons it would be impossible.
So it's almost logical, that humans should be eating animal foods in most of the cases
i mean I don't think that humans were meant to eat fruit all the time in huge quantities, especially in places where fruit are seasonal as Dr.Bass Says. I live in a place where fruit grows for maximum of 6 months and majority of fruit is apples. And most of the apples are cultivated hence they are bigger and you can find them everywhere, while wild fruit including wild apples would be a lot less common and usually smaller.
Dr. Bass convinced me that eating meat or (especially) fish is good.
I don't think that people should eat that much fruit, I don't even want to eat a lot of fruit anymore it's just too sweet...plus it's bad for your teeth - a thing that I found out myself... That means I need to get calories from something else, that means grains or animal food, as vegies and lettuce doesn't have much calories. Therefore I eat raw fish which is awesome.
So true what he says about what we know now is less than 1% of what we will know in the future. That is exactly the problem I have with people who state science as fact. Science is only as good as the current knowledge and there is much more that we don't know than we do know. What is "true" today may not be true tomorrow.
This is why a person's mind should always be kept open.

i think nutrition is more than just physical food.
it also includes your surroundings (city or nature?)
your thoughts, your emotions and even your actions.

When people think Jack Lalane they think vegetables only, but that's not true.
Lots and lots of animal foods. That's where health is at ;)
